Im 6'5 and i fit better in the back seat of the Genesis than i do the front of my TL (other than out right leg room)

This depends on your definition of "near", as alot of folks on these forums get highly dramatic with their descriptions and definitions. So instead lets get to the actual numbers of the Genesis/Civic dimensions. The first row is the Civic and the second is the Genesis for each dimension. As shown the interior dimensions of the Civic are within 10%, the interior volume is about 85% of a Genesis.

So to me the differences are not that great (<10%). It amazes me how much interior room is on some modern compact cars. The engineers do a excellent job of efficiently using all the space they can. Consider the fact that the Civic is only 65% of the weight of the Genesis. It's obvious the Genesis has alot of other stuff (V8, features,...).

Can we please stop talking about Civic in this thread?

It's like comparing apples vs Romanesco Broccoli. It's that weird and inappropriate.

No that would be like comparing a McLaren MP4-25 to a Genesis. They both have four wheels, a V8, and a steering wheel but that's where it ends.

For coupe will get a significantly more changes to the sheetmetal than the sedan did for its refresh.

And will be getting the GDI 3.8 engine and likely the 2.0T turbo.

The 5.0 won't happen until the next generation; looks like it may be likely considering that Kia is going to debut 2 diff. concept designs of a V8 coupe at Frankfurt and Detroit.

Residuals on the Genesis sedan has been somewhere btwn that of the Infiniti M and Lexus GS; nowadays, a buyer would get guaranteed resale (on the condition that they service their car at a Hyundai dealership).

Anyway, someone put a downpayment on an R-Spec and is supposed to pick it up early next week.

Considering only 1,200 R-Specs are slated for the US, I got a feeling they are going to go quickly.

LMAO @ the Civic comparisons. Here you have a dude in his 40s with three kids and needs a larger sedan but for some reason a Civic keeps getting thrown into the mix.

He's set on the Genny. Let's just hope these damn things hit the ground already!

According to this article, under $45k, you should get a brand new CTS or an used Porsche Cayman.

No worries, according to Google, Cayman comes with about 14.5 cubic ft. You can put your kids in there, if you have to.

Saw an R-Spec on the freeway yesterday .. looked pretty sleek and still had dealer plates / sticker

Too bad the guy didn't get on it .. I really wanted to hear what it sounded like.

Seriously, Paper numbers mean NOTHING!!! Go sit in the 2 back to back, the civic is NO where near the actual size inside. Shit, you could park it inside the genesis.

Just like you comparing a Genesis sedan to a Civic and trying to justify the numbers saying they within 10%. There is No doubt they have gotten good at making small cars bigger inside, but one can not compare the interior volume by the numbers on paper of the 2.

Hey Neil, How are the Hyundai dealers by you? My dad had his windshield crack over the weekend (with this being his first problem) (very hot day) when he started the car and cranked the AC. He went to the dealer to take care of some 60k service at 65k (he mentioned the windshield and not seeing a crack) and he got back into the car later that day to them having replaced his windshield free of charge.

R-spec, amazing specs with GDI... like wow. What kills it for me is the brand. They should make a new line.. Leave Hyundai as generic, and make a new cool brand.

^ How can you compare any car to a civic? I did an 4 hour trip on a civic with 3 of my friends.. We could barely get out of the car. Our backs, necks and legs were killing us. We felt like we battled for hours.

I rather drive an Aztec, yes it is the fugliest thing ever put on wheels but at least it has more comfort than a civic

Depends on the Civic, a 9G > 8G > 7G ...

I'm 6'4" and also did a road-trip to Detroit in a friend's 86 Civc with two other folks who were 6'+. We were cramped for sure, but had no problem getting out. I suggest yoga and Pilates.

Folks get all dramatized over this size thing it's amusing. There are two Genesis's at work, they are big inside but not enormous by any means. A neighbor had a A8L, it was big but I had more room in the 2nd row of a another neighbor's 3G Oddy. If you want alot of room get a mini-van, that's room to me.

Back to the OP topic, the interior on the Genesis is very nice. Gives Lexus a run, haven't had a chance to look at the details yet.

Mhmm.. I want to see you do 40 hours fishing (no sleep, standing on rocks) and the climb out of that piece of shit 2011 civic...

I do long trips in M37, I come out refreshed and ready to go. Same was in my 08TL-S. It's not about the space at all, plenty of space in the civic, it's the damn seats.

Just kidding. I feel you on the stress of the financial services industry. I'm sure your co. is getting bazillions of calls from panicking sheeple. I'm staying put with my stocks....and buying more when things bottom out. I've got 20+ years to retirement, so I'll make out like a bandit.

Just kidding. I feel you on the stress of the financial services industry. I'm sure your co. is getting bazillions of calls from panicking sheeple. I'm staying put with my stocks....and buying more when things bottom out. I've got 20+ years to retirement, so I'll make out like a bandit.
I'm a consultant at a large FS/bank. They had a massive "cleansing" of consultants a few weeks ago so I'm currently "on the beach". Hopefully back to work shortly but probably not the best time to drop $40K+ on a new car.

Bad news. Sorry to hear about that. Hang in there with the job search.

Hope you find new work soon

Quick Reply: $45K for a used (potentially new) performance sedan...what would you look at?
