$45K for a used (potentially new) performance sedan...what would you look at?

Perhaps

But if we look at the JD Power rankings for overall quality in mid-size Premium cars, the Jag is second only to the Lexus GS. It also beats the Hyundai Genesis in overall quality.

http://www.jdpower.com/autos/ratings...1/#page-anchor

And if you pick up a low milage certified one you get 6/100K warranty.

Yeah nice review. As for the quiet exhaust, I'm sure a little tweaking to the stock system (resonator removal) will give it a better sound.

Now if Hyundai would just hurry up and get them built.

My step dad just picked one of these up. Got the XF in 08 and drove it for 100k, not a single problem. He expects the supercharged version to do the same.

I come from the 8thgen Civic world and have owned a 06 SI coupe since they first came out and Ive been a passionate car enthusiast for longer then that..

Anyway ive read through most of this thread and ive seen a lot of educated un bias recommendations for the most part. I know this might be way off anything you where considering butttt..

Have you ever consider a used low mile Civic SI Sedan ?

Sporty looks, unmatched reliability, decent rear leg room, high mpg,not too mention the fun factor.

I can assure you for the money they are the best cars overall you can get. The power levels will not compare to anything you have listed but a simple Hondata reflash lowers the vtec engagement and raises the redline. It will provide more tq down low so you wont need to shift past 5k really to be at legal speeds at a good rate.

I just wanted to throw that out there if you haven't considered 1 to this point and you would be saving a ton of money in the process..

He can fit 3 kids easy in the back and the K20 flows very well so with just the Reflash he will have the passing power of a V6. I know its something he prob never consider but it is an option at a much lower cost then anything he has mentioned.

I am def not tryna be an asshole here & shouldn't judge since i have NEVER stepped foot in a civic but i highly doubt out of a good portion of the cars mentioned here that the civic's passing power or interior space is even close .

^ Agreed to some extent. But really, OP is looking for something bigger. I should say Civic is not adequately sized to be called a family sedan.

Interior space is decent i dont have exact mesaurments on hand and like i mentioned with the now cheap reflash the passing power is there. I was just putting it out there that's all i myself would want something higher on the luxury scale for the money he mentioned if it came down to it.

Your correct the rear seat room is most likely not as spacious as some of the other cars mentioned. Ive just seen it become so popular the past few years for all it offers so i just wanted to bring it to his attention.

I love the brand, hate most of its products.

If they make something attractive, I'll get it right away. I'm a Honda fanboi.

ohh dont get me wrong, i still love the brand and if i went the consumer choice honda is def a great choice still.

I think they need to go back to F1, get a driver similar to aryton senna and develop the new nsx

a new s2000 would be nice too, and something the equivalent of a prelude also?

This is where it goes back to personal opinion (if they make something attractive) that is a personal opinion of your dislikes with some of the products.

What's attractive to one may not be attractive to all and vice versa. Everybodies ideas of what's hot ad what's not are different.

Perfect example the gentleman bringing up a civic in a 45K thread.

and i honestly think they would if more people bought these vehicles and they actually turned a profit off of them. I highly doubt if they made profits off of those cars as they have on their family/sport/luxury sedans they would have stopped making them.

Plus those are cars that certain people buy those are not over the whole board cars.

This isn't a Honda hater forum. We're almost like parents who are (or were) very proud of our children, it's harder to please us and easier to disappoint us. You'll see this in a lot of forums devoted to a certain brand.... once some owners get rid of their cars as well as the rose-colored glasses (or just the glasses), their outlook changes.

In real life I'm known as the Honda guy.... always defending Honda as they get bashed a lot, mostly from the enthusiasts. On here I like to think I stand in the middle, but may seem like a Honda basher. To use a cliche.... I call it how I see it.

That is exactly the reason why you were getting so defensive, like a girl.

My Mazdaspeed3 has one of the most controversial front ends in the market right now, do I get offended if someone say it's ugly?

No, because everyone has different taste in "looks" department.

But you are a little too girly to take criticisms, and in fact I wasn't even saying anything about 4G TL in my post.

Man up and think broader.

LOL like i said before i was just throwing it out there and Ive seen all age groups driving the SI sedan its a very fun car.

Maybe a BMW 335D would be a good look for you 4 door, decent rear leg room, tons of TQ,high mpg..

Used fully loaded and i am sure they are in your price range..

^^you really think that 335 has decent rear leg room?
Man, you must be really short...I sat on my buddy's 335D before and don't find rear leg room to be "decent" as what you described.

Also, no one here said anything about civic not being a fun car. Op is just looking for something bigger than civic or 335.

Im sorry, but if you think the back seat will seat 3 kids easy you must be about 4'6" tall, and even then the back seat will be cramped for kids width wise.

No kid would want to sit behind me driving (my sister has one so i know) The civic is just TOO small and not powerful enough for his needs, especially with it loaded up with the family.

I can barely get three kids (two car seats on either end with my oldest sitting directly in the middle) in my TL.

Then we'll meet up somewhere in PA/OH and take the exact same shot we did in LA only standing next to our R-Specs and send it to the AHM.

The R-Spec is starting to trickle onto dealer lots.

Really depends on where you are located; some areas have a good inventory of the '12 4.6, while others only have a limited inventory.

Florida seems to be the mecca of '12 Genesis inventory and probably your best chance of test driving an R-Spec sooner rather than later.

Btw, I spotted this brand new genesis with a new headlight for the first time today..... and the car itself looked so much more expensive than the previous models.

And I don't know why but it looked really fast too. I mean the V8 ones have been very fast, but now the exterior design really backs up that performance figures. Looks pretty mean.

No R-Specs in the Northeast Man I am so ready to pull the trigger.

I swear my car knows the time is near. Among all of the other things I've fixed in the last few months now I have....
Loose driver's side mirror
Rearview mirror exploded (fluid leak) over the weekend. Now it's all cloudy and I can barely see through it.
