heh just saw this - it was the day of the release and so they had a release party at that store - I signed (what seemed like) over 100 books, felt weird at first but then I just kept doing it and it got kind of monotonous lol.

I meant SD780... I wish Canon wasn't so screwy with the numbers, the 780 has 720p video whereas the 790 does not - it would appear the 790 is "better"... the 940 appears to be a new version of the 780..

Why do they still bother with viewfinders on these things? They're a joke. The battery life is good enough nowadays that turning the LCD off and taking shots through the viewfinder is not really worth losing out on the live view.
I briefly considered the Lumix GF1 today, after seeing some of its HD video output... then I saw the price and it didn't seem as appealing.. Still if I had some extra cash to burn (and already had a 7D) I think I would get the GF1.
check out this full resolution image.. top one at 20mm f/1.7

Came across this today, its a camera mount LED video light, I thought about using it for DSLR - but it costs $250. Steep for what you get, which is just an array of LED lights on battery power.

So I looked around and found this LED shoplight which I think would pretty much the same thing aside from the mount (I would probably want to hand-hold it anyways) - and it goes for a much easier-to-swallow $50. Could probably easily modify it to look less "shop" like. In the past I have shot alongside videographers and used their light as a primary source with good results, this would probably get the same kind of result.

hey for cases you can't bounce flash on ceilings what would you do about it?
a friend suggested the indexcard/ or gobo method another one said mini softbox and bracket the flash.
