I like LR for several reasons.

I like their import set up and the being able to back up to a 2nd location.

I like their cataloging

I like their develop module...its very fast and intuitive for me, I don't like having to click through tabs...scrolling quickly down the right menu bar is simple and quick

Batch processing, renaming, exporting, etc

I edit on a MBP with a track pad...even when I had my iMac I still used the magic track pad. Its quick, accurate, and easy.

there are more reasons but those are the basics

I almost never use photoshop. In fact...the first in years that I used it was last month when I was shooting web assists for a client. So, I had to cut out the white background on everything.

Other than that, I don't do any real photo manipulation which is what I always used it for in the past...like over 10 years ago....PS 2

Wow, someone in wash+wax wanted a wax to look really good, so he desaturated the "before" pic and totally over saturated the "after" ones. Laughable.

No I've only had cs6 for a year or so. Still in the learning phase of how to use it lol. And I'm Def not on a pro level like a lot of you guys on here are just an amateur hobbyist at best.

A person I'm attached with on FB for photography, just posted a landscape picture of an open field with one olive tree in it. Descent picture, nothing to swoon over.

But they titled it "100 Year Olive Tree", if I knew them better, i would have replied, guess its not virgin.....

It was very intuitive in the early days...now its got so much stuff crammed in to it (good stuff) that if I didn't have a foundation from using it so much in high school and part of college I think I would lost trying to use it now.

There's a lot with it now. Back when I started with it. It was just so damn slow and would freeze many times on me. So I left it out of my steps.


It's the same with LR, I used it A LOT with LR 1 and 2, LR 3 was slow, so I left it except when I needed large batches, like my son baseball game. LR 4 was a step back to good. But I'm stuck in my current process of PS.

I started with PS 2.5.1 and it was totally not intuitive. It wasn't until I got PS 3 that layers made it easier to use, IMO.

Woot.

I told myself I didn't care about all the extra features and just wanted the better sensor, but I love all the toys this thing has.

The remote app that lets you control pretty much every aspect of the camera and review photos is pretty neat. It takes advantage of NFC to start the wifi connection so it only takes a couple seconds to set up. The camera itself doesn't come with gps but you can tag the photos via the phone, which is a fiddly way of doing things but kinda neat.

The electronic viewfinder is better than I thought. It's placed the same way it is on my old Yashica range finder so you can frame with your right eye and not mush your nose against the camera. I never even thought of buying one for my gf1 but I can see myself using this a lot.

On top of all that is has not one but two food scene modes. Appetizing Food and Cute Dessert.

I used my VF a lot on my GF1...gave it to my dad when I thought I was going to possibly sell my camera.

Congrats on the pick up...The gx7 is something I would not mind owning at all to replace my GF1.

Got other things cooking though.

What made me deliberate over the purchase most was that I don't think GX7 is really a exact replacement for the GF. If I already had a dslr I don't know if I would have gone with it over the GX1.

The GF1 with the pancake 14 can fit in a pocket, but the bigger grip and evf of the GX7 gets in the way. It feels like it will handle well, but it just isn't as pocketable. The GF can also take a beating. I never use a strap with it and have managed to drop it a few times, but it continues to work flawlessly. While the GX feels solid I doubt the folding LCD on the back will survive that kind of treatment.

Man, I don't know what kind of pants you guys wear when you say you can comfortably put Galaxy Notes and GF1s in your pockets!

I couldn't even comfortable put my GF1 with the pancake 20 in my back bike jersey pocket. MAYBE a jacket pocket...but still.

well, big is relative based on what resolution your screen is at.

they are 1600 wide, and on my 1080p screen they look just fine.

but if you were at say 1680, 1280 or 1024 etc they would look huge
