I've never gotten free stuff from Sony, but was asked once if I'd be interested in testing out stuff... but that ended up not happening

you're thinking about the free $800 lens from Rokinon

They don't care, what they put it in box costs them about one dollar.

yeah, einsatz is a flickr and programs the API to spit him informations...

I had been reading about the changes to flickr and I still am a bit fuzzy as to what happened and where/how the increase in contacts is occurring, I just passed 49k. I tried researching it but generally didn't find much. But I did find some information that pointed to a change in the way # of views are counted. It said that now, any time a photo of yours loads anywhere in Flickr, it will register a view. So if its on a contacts page and someone is scrolling through the list of photos, if your photo is there, it counts as a view (which it should). I'm not sure but kind of doubt it is affected by external links and embeds.

I just tried it again, and when you click on the 3 dots, you can get to the exif info now (couldn't before), but when I clicked on add/remove photos to groups, it gave me this message:

This is a beta version of the photo page redesign and is missing some features. We are working hard on adding new functionality frequently. We will provide most of the functionality you expect on Flickr soon.

While we don't yet support what you’re trying to do, you are free to opt out of the new experience and then opt back in if you wish.

think I'm finally ready to get a ND filter.

does anyone have any thoughts on fixed vs. variable? I tend to like variable things so I am leaning in that direction..

also any thoughts on these two?

When I was researching on VND filters, some reported an X pattern when set to very long exposure. Make sure to look out for that. I've been wanting to get an ND filter for the longest time. When it comes to fixed ND filters I can't decide for crap on what level I want to get. I have been hesitant on VND filters but I think I'll start giving it a chance.

Yeah, at least if you have that just in case you are still over-exposed at 1/8000.

I tried a vary ND, 2 actually, as I thought it would be good to have the variable flexibility. I sent them both back because the vignetting was ridiculous on them. Now I use solid NDs….no issues at all. I've also stacked an ND with a CPL and still no issue.

thanks for the inputs! think I'm gonna hold off for now.

I also found it annoying that you have to focus before putting the filter on - I mean for people photos, which is what I wanted to use it for, that's gonna be super tough -

Hmmm...how come you would need an ND filter for people photos?

so you can shoot wide open or closer to wide open (for bokeh), and not be overexposed (when the condition calls for it, that is...especially when there's still a lot of sun/ambient light)

oftentimes ND filters are used with strobes too

Here's a good example of ND filter used with a monolight/beauty dish, aperture @f2 (NOT MINE)

I used a 3-stop ND filter to be able to shoot in nice bright ambient light, but still have depth of field blur and use studio lights at the same time. Worked out well!

Definitely didn't know it could be used for that. I spent way too much time looking at long exposure photos in the ND forum on POTN then.

had some time with my friend's 70D over the weekend - pretty nice camera - you can hook it up to iphone via app and scroll through your pix on the phone, share, etc. etc. You've heard me asking about options such as this before, well this is the best way to do it. Love the flip touchscreen too.

Ken, I took a look and can tell you that the difference you are seeing is not from the metering mode, but from the exposure time. The darker image is 13 sec and the brighter one is 30 sec. Both have relatively similar settings otherwise.

well, after I switched to spot metering, the exposure time was decreased (while staying same or near same aperture) for a proper exposure So, I just went with it. I guess keeping the shutter speed the same, would be overexposed. I'll try it again tonight but stopping down the aperture... yet keeping the longer exposure... I'm curious now.

it is because the metering that the exposure is different. The spot metering meters for mid tones of the spot. Where as multi takes it for the entire scene.

quick question regarding CC Photoshop (Creative Cloud), my fiancee and I have the service, and I was just curious, if... suppose I open up a file on MY computer in Photoshop, I save the file, close it (and delete "Recent Files"), can you access that file in another computer later?
