I don't think so - this is not photo files, it's the catalog structure - it's the size of the "Lightroom 4 Catalog Previews.lrdata" folder.

yeah it does include previews - is there a way to ditch previews for certain albums? That would help I would think

I wasn't looking / thinking carefully enough - the 37GB resides inside the "Lightroom 4 Catalog Previews.lrdata" folder so this is only Previews, not the catalog file. So I think technically I could delete whatever I want in there, and it would just lose the previews - which would be ok, I could rebuild that if I need it. The reason this is particularly important is because it's on a 256GB SSD and I want to conserve space.

I will admit I am on a much older version of LR, but under "catalog settings" you can adjust the quality of the preview. This may reduce your preview file sizes going forward.

You can also "Discard 1:1 previews" under the Library...Previews menu. That may help.

To my previous comment - you can have multiple LR catalogs - just break them up by year/event/etc and that will also generate separate preview files. I did this when I was in class - I had a catalog in my thumbdrive to take to class and another on my laptop. This way I kept my class stuff and personal stuff separate.

was optimistic about this but it only helped slightly. After deleting 2 years worth of previews, the 37GB went to 35GB.

If your previews file is the issue though, you'll want to be sure you update your settings on "Catalog Settings" under "file handling", too. Make the size smaller, update the quality and set the 1:1 to delete automatically.

something unfortunately lot of people have trouble understanding...

it's like, "what does the $_____ include??" as far as I'm concerned, it can only include my vision as a photographer, and nothing else. but of course you have to talk about the other stuff, period of time, copies of photos, album, online sharing, turn-around time, etc. etc. etc.

as if your vision as a photographer, is not enough. #annoying

My opinion is that if you have to ask me that question then go get a family member to take pictures with their point and shoot. #aintgotnotimeforthat.

Well try checking out SLR Lounge Video, as they deal with workflow. Maybe they have a solution for you.

Why would anybody want to buy this for that much?

Miley Cyrus’ Nikon N80 SLR is Currently Bidding at Over $90K on eBay

We hate to contribute in any small way to the Miley Cyrus hoopla/shenanigans/ruckus (pick your poison) but when an old 35mm SLR that would normally go for about $60 starts bidding at almost $100,000 we can’t help but take notice.

The camera in question is an old 35mm Nikon N80 SLR, and as you might have already guessed, the reason it’s going for so ridiculously much is that … well … Miley is selling it.

nikonn80_1

Ironically enough, it seems Cyrus’ original intention was to stay anonymous in this particular case. The camera went up for sale yesterday under the username getit555, which has been active since November of 2007. If it is in fact her, she’s sold 16 other items at regular old, normal-human-beings-can-afford-this prices in the past.

The reason the camera has taken off is because Cyrus tweeted a link to it saying “BUY MY OLD CAMERA!” Although the tweet was quickly removed, the damage (if you can call it that) was done, and fans have been flocking to the page to place their bid on a little piece of Miley memorabilia ever since.

^^^ I don't know haven't tried :whatever:

I wish Flickr also had a "Like" or (or something) in addition to Favorite for each photo - there are many times I like a photo (and want to show that I like it) but wouldn't call it a "favorite" (and don't want it added to my favorites list).

"Try our new Photo Experience"

it's a trap on Flickr, don't fall for it.

the new experience is incomplete, it doesn't have the codes for the photos, doesn't have more sizes, etc. etc. they say they are adding the rest of the features later. ok , thanks...

Yes you can. Just hit the blue button on the lower left. It gives you an option to opt-out.

I agree - it's not complete. I can see where they're going, and it's not as offensive as their other changes, but it's just not ready yet.

must be a Yahoo thing, because I just went to my yahoo mail inbox (desktop) for the first time in a while, and it's totally different. All I know is, I really miss the feature where you can click on "unread mail" and then delete them all with just one click.
