Can you add more ram?
If not take out your older modules and replace them with larger capacity ones?

Well then, I would have to suggest the hardware route then. Just last night, I was doing some regular work in LR (nothing too crazy, a group of 600 photos from the weekend) - and I suddenly noticed my computer was running very slow. I was trying to do some cloning in photoshop and I'd click the mouse a few times and the results would show up like 10 sec later. It was uncommon and odd so I looked in Task manager and saw LR was taking up 3GB's!!! (I have 8) I closed it but that wasn't enough, I had to kill it as well. The program definitely likes using system resources.

okay, dumb question here.... what exactly do you mean, when you say you had to "Kill it"? Like exit the program? close the program? Maybe I'm not closing the or killing the program fully or correctly?

A reboot would also take care of this, I certainly hope you've tried that as well.

could be. you have Windows right? sometimes LR doesn't close, even though its not actually "open". so you go into Task Manager (Ctrl-Alt-Del) and click Processes tab and find LIGHTROOM.EXE, select it and choose End Process, and confirm.
A reboot would also take care of this, I certainly hope you've tried that as well.

Creepy guy in the mirror.
I signed up for a workshop in June with Brooke Shaden. It is really kinda out of my realm and will be stretching me beyond my capability - really into the area of art pieces. I am a little nervous but I am interested and have a few stories I would like to tell.
We will see how it goes.

lol, Brooke Shaden. Nice name. That must have been an LA name change.

With all of the talk about newer lenses, or upgrades to older models. I've been poking around on amazon.com. Pretty cool to see lenses that I own, I can sell use for hundreds more than I paid for them.
If I ever would though ....

Brooke Shaden is the sh*ttttt... that's so cool you're going! I have a similar resource here in Chicago, Aaron Nace (Phlearn) - he does workshops and one of my friend knows him, he said we can go by anytime!

...so, I picked up a used Sigma 10-20mm to be used with my a77 (APS-C). This way I can start using the a900 (FF) less since I really love it. And I'm quite certain I'm not buying the new Sony FF later this year (if/when it comes out), I'm quite happy with the a900. Anyway, so I wanted to do a comparison between my a900 + Rokinon 14mm f2.8 (which I also LOVE), to the a77 + Sigma 10-20mm @10mm (15mm equivalent)... I still like the a900/14mm better... I think there IS a big difference between 14mm and 15mm.
Anyway, I can still live with the a77/Sigma 10-20mm tho...
But what's weird is the colors are totally different... I can't seem to get the photo with Sigma lens to look like the Rokinon lens in PP. If it matters, the Rokinon 14mm was shot @f8 and Sigma 10-20mm @f9.
Anyone have a clue? Is this due to the lens/optical elements?

A lot of my photos come up in certain searches, because I tag the fuck out of them, but have never been paid for anything, Rokinon DID asked me if they can use one of my photos (because I posted it on their FB page), and I just said "go ahead"

that's good timing because when LR4 is fully released, isn't it only another $99 to upgrade?

ugh, don't even get me started on taxes.
tax here in British Columbia is 12% And even if you buy from another province, you still pay tax... I can't remember if you still pay the tax of YOUR province or the province where the seller is from... if you buy from a US seller... most of them will NOT lower the declared price value... so, customs will nail you for tax anyway

the issue i got with getting a mirrorless cam is that they are still pretty bulky, not really pocketable.

There's no such thing as a good p&s, knowing that you're looking for what you get from a dlsr. Getting a smaller dlsr would be what you want to do.
