I remember seeing that. I didn't pay much attention because I don't have a 5D2. But I would guess this works similarly on the 7D also.

just curious, how important it is to you guys if your camera has GPS or not? I, personally couldn't care less...but that's just me

some people are whining about new camera bodies coming out w/o built-in GPS... I mean... I have it on my a77, but has never been turned on. To me, it's like the cruse control in your car... nice to know you have it, but will rarely use it, and won't miss it if it was to stop working.

Yea I don't care, but I would be nice to see what pics you took where and sort your pics by geo location.

don't care. I can set it in flickr if I feel like it.

Ditto...
And LR4 has geolocation now, too. I'd turn it off right away to save battery. Besides, sometimes I go places I don't want to advertise I've been.

Nice...at some point I need to get a 77mm for my 70-200.

Oddly enough, I ran into Samys today and picked up a heliopan CPL for my GF1...gave it to me for 90 bucks (46mm ugh) and I lucked out that they were doing no tax today...all very random and in my favor.

Anyone here using Silver Efex? If yes, how does it compare to Lightroom? I mean...I'm sure Silver Efex is excellent for b&w's but is it a whole lot better? Or can you basically do the same with Lightroom but just more steps/tweaking?

Silver Efex Pro and Silver Efex Pro 2 are at the top of the Mountain when it comes to B&W.

You can always d/l a demo copy. And if you do like it. I suggest this to advance your use.

I'm trying to get my Tamron 10-24 serviced since it's broken ("Err" after taking photos, on either the 7D or 5D - I *think* the contacts are bad or something of that nature). 6-year warranty, supposedly. I call Tamron's warranty department, it says the voice mailbox is full. What the hell.

However, supposedly I can take the lens to Helix Camera (where I bought it) repair department, and they can send it in for warranty work. It will cost me $10. So I'm gonna do that.

$10 ain't bad... I just sent my Sigma 85mm f1.4 to get it updated because it wasn't compatible with my a77... And in the instructions, it specifically said you have to insure it... and it was a $969 lens... so the shipping ended up costing me $40...

the worst part is... they say it's going to be around 15 BUSINESS days

I had to go to a service call up in the White Mountains yesterday. As I was getting dressed to leave I looked at my camera bag which I often toss in the van with me when I travel north for work. I thought, "nah, theres no snow and no color yet"

.....drove into the aftermath of a small snow storm a few hours earlier which had slight snow clinging to all the trees on the mountains, beautiful scenery.

So a couple guys at work just came over to my desk asking if I bought a new liquid cooled digital camera. Obviously I had no clue what they were talking about, but fedex mistakenly shipped us one of these.

http://learn.hamamatsu.com/articles/emccds.html

They figured out the error pretty quick

Just got an Android app. called SunSurveyor. It gives you current and future locations of sun and moon from most anywhere. What I really like is it gives you the times for the blue and golden hours for both morning and night. This is great for knowing where they'll be in the sky when/where you want to shoot, especially for landscape photography!

Here's a shot I took from my back yard.
