Thrifty Couples Opting for Photoshopped Wedding Photos in China

  • Michael Zhang · Apr 19, 2012

A strange bit of news coming out of China: couples are opting to have their wedding photos faked using Photoshop due to rising photography costs.
Rising cost of a wedding photo-shoot is forcing some Chinese couples to get their wedding albums prepared with the help of morphing offered by various online photography-related agencies. With the help of computer software like Photoshop, a couple’s ordinary photo can be added with wedding dresses, flowers or even a tropical island setting to create faux wedding images.
While the cost of a professional shoot in China can run upwards of $950, having your wedding photo album faked by online Photoshopping businesses only costs $50.

The Barbie and Ken ones remind me of a similar series that a fellow DC Flickr'ite did a few months back:

while in china i came across a slight problem with my 1D.

im not sure if its my 1D having issues or my CF card or the eye-fi card.

anyways a few times i would take a picture and then noticed that the red "write" light was stuck on.

i just thought it was the camera taking a long time to write to the card. so i would just let it sit there and keep writing and continue taking pictures.

but then i noticed that it wasn't actually writing the images to the card as my image buffer kept getting smaller and smaller and i was not able to review any images i had just taken.

so then i tried powering it off and on, and it would just continue to sit there attempting to write to the card.

the only way to remedy it was to open the memory card door causing me to lose whatever images i had just taken.

anyone got any ideas what might be causing the issue?

i dont recall if the problem showed up on both my 2 4GB CF cards.

btw my CF cards are 30MB/sec and 20MB/sec and the eye-fi card is a class 6 SDHC card, so they should be plenty fast, and its not like i was shooting at 8.5fps..

This is the best copyright typo I've ever seen. If you really want to show you give absolutely zero shits about what you're doing, this is the way.

I think they were doing it on purpose. It is an extra letter added, not a wrong one used.

Plus a quick google search shows results with that name...

Srika, can you explain to me how you do your panorams? i mean do you just take a picture and sweep across.

like this:

what if sweeping across like that isnt wide enough then what do you do?
can you stack it on top of each other? if that makes any sense?

absolutely. you can arrange your panoramic as a grid. that's primarily how I do mine, btw.

thats a beautiful shot. actually I thought you were posting some random photo from the web, maybe a stock photo shot.

In CS4, when you are choosing the images for your panorama, you just choose all of them - you basically dump them into it and it'll spit out the merged photo. All of the panoramic programs work like that, you can feed whatever into them and it will try to make sense of what you gave it. Obviously giving it intelligible and logical images makes you get better panoramics.

Got fisheye?

http://www.digitaltrends.com/photogr...m_medium=email

A rare and monstrous Nikon fisheye lens was recently discovered and is now up for sale at a London-based Nikon dealer.

A photography connoisseur knows that having many lens, filters, and miscellaneous accessories can add interesting effects to your pictures, making photography more varied and fun. But if you have about £100,000, or approximately $161,380 USD lying around, this Nikon fisheye lens could be the ultimate add-on.

Made in the 1970, the Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 lens weighs 5.2 kg, measures at 171 mm long, and has a diameter of 236 mm (11.5 lbs, 6.7 inches, 9.3 inches respectively). That’s pretty much about the width of a human face. When it launched, this Nikkor was considered the world’s largest wide angle lens, with the ability to capture photos at the size of 24 x 36 mm at an angle of 220 degrees.

“We came across it around seven weeks ago,” said Gray Levett, co-founder of the Nikon shop Gray’s of Westminster told AP. Levett found the impressive piece of glass on an overseas trip and is now selling the rare item at his London-based store.

Thanks to the extremely wide angle the lens can help produce, this Nikkor lens was primarily used for portraits and architectural shots. Only a few hundreds were believed to have been produced. Let’s face it: It’s not like this thing is exactly fun to lug around with its weight and unusual size.

And is the lens really worth six figures? We looked at the second best place to search for random old items and found another listing for a similar gear based locally in New Jersey. At $12,000 (or best offer), you can also own the 6mm f/5.6 version of this Nikkon fisheye lens via eBay. The seller won’t ship for obvious reasons and is “willing to travel,” so if you’re a huge collector or love Nikon products and have lots of cash to spare, we encourage you to have at it. In the meantime, you can also DIY yourself a $24,000 Holga if you’re more of a Lomography kind of person.

the color is cool just because it seems like 'real life' but I definitely prefer it in B&W.

No mention of Adobe's release yesterday?

I loved the PS CS6 beta and will definitely purchase it. My CS2 license is for Windows, and I want CS6 for Mac, so I think that's a double-whammy and I'll have to purchase the full thing rather than the upgrade since CS2 apparently isn't on the supported list for upgrades.

Maybe I'll sign up for a class at a local community college and try to get the discount...

I got CS2 for a good price thanks to ChodTheWacko, I hope to continue the tradition of not having to pay full price! :p

All my gear is being calibrated by Toshio and not due back until the end of next week (which is already making him rush it so I can have it for a couple of gigs that weekend). So, naturally, my brother contacted me and needs me to come to NY yesterday for his engagement photos. They're already late getting their save-the-dates out.

Sooo....I'm renting a 5DII, 70-200, 24-70, and 135L for the weekend and hopping on a train. I really hope I won't be sad not to have a wider prime or an ultra-wide, but I'm thinking the 24 equivalent to the long end of the 11-16 I'm used to shooting with on the cropped body, so fingers crossed it will be enough. And the 2.8 aperture on the 24-70 should cover me, since I don't want to limit my dof too, too much while shooting 2 people. I agonized over these choices last night! Ugh. I hate not having my stuff!!

I'll probably regret renting the 5DII instead of the 7D...I'm going to get spoiled. I also know I'm going to love the 135. I've been coveting one. That part will be fun.

It'll also be fun to play with portraits in Central Park and wherever else they want to go.

/random photo news of the day.
