Thank you! I don't carry it on me as often as I should and end up missing a lot of photos.

Couldn't you just make a request to the commander to be the unit's event photographer? We had a designated photographer in my unit. I would have definitely volunteered if I was as much into photography as I am now.

There are regulations for my MOS stating that I can't be assigned alternate duties (I am a Biomed Tech, which means I fix medical equipment). And the way my Battalion works, our PAO/Photographer is part of PSD, which is a reassignment. I do photos for my company, but there aren't many company level events.

I really want to get to shoot during a Cavalry Charge at a Change of Command.

I wanted to bring a camera in CIC, but I'd just get chewed out then thrown out.

With all the car photos, doesn't feel like a random pic thread.

What's wrong with having car pics? They're part of random.

so I came up with this idea to use the TV/Theater room in the building I live in for photoshoots (it has a high ceiling). So, today, I wanted to test it out with my girlfriend especially since she was getting her hair done.

this was just a test run... I might start collaborating with models off Model Mayhem

1 Alienbees B1600, with large 86" umbrella + covers to make it like a large softbox (camera right)

So about a week ago I did a photo session for a friend. It was to promote a clothing brand called Kush Life (backed by Snoop Dogg/Lion). I came to the shoot thinking I'll just be the back up shooter, but little did I know I was the main photographer!!! I was like wtf? I said what the hell so I just worked with what I had.

It was a great experience though. Learned a lot about shooting people and portrait. In the end I prefer shooting cars and landscape. It's definitely a lot easier to capture static subjects.

I also learn that the lens that I used ,15-85mm f/3.5-5.6, is not the best for portrait photos. A lot of the shots came out blurry due to low light. Now I have my eye on that Sigma 35 f/1.4

the canon 50 1.4 is now 299 new. If you aren't waiting for the 50 1.4 IS then I would scoop that up.
