A repost is a repost is a repost. If the exact same image, diy, text, etc. is posted in multiple places, it's a repost.
I have no problem with people wanting to share their photos, text, diy, or whatever, but don't repost the same info in multiple places.
Instead, simply post the item in one place, and link to the post, or quote the original post and place it in other threads. This is the method I've tried to employ with items that I wanted to share across threads.
I understand quoting and place in other threads sounds the same, but it is different in that it links back to where the posts "true" home should be.

Careful now, I don't need any splinters.
Either way you look at it, what I stated doesn't inhibit anyone from sharing whatever they wish to share anywhere on this site. It's just the method in which they share is cleaner IMO.
The way I see it, say I posted a photo in the favorite photo thread and quoted my post, placed it in other threads, it may entice people to want to click back and see the other photos in the favorite thread, a thread they may not have even been aware of, or a sub-forum they weren't aware of for that matter. It promotes site navigation and is our own internal advertising if you will.

thanks for the pointers. I can do that from now on, it's not a problem.
it's just very difficult to tell with him because in the past he claimed to be "joking" about reposts. now I know he wasn't actually joking.

A repost is a repost. Re-read your profanity-laced e-mails and IMs to me, weirdo. I told you that I posted that your OMG-CRY-THUD-posts were REPOSTS with no malice in mind back then. You flew into a rage about it, remember? (BTW, who the heck gets mad about someone telling them their post is a repost? Oh yes...just you. )
And to calm you down, I told you I post on AZ for fun (which is true) and why take it so seriously.
Try again, bud.

But they aren't doing to try and increase how many "thanks" they get...

that's so great. and so true. about many things.
it really comes down to people being self-centered and unable to recognize that each and every person is living their OWN lives and that just because they have experienced something themselves a certain way, doesn't necessarily mean everyone else also experiences that thing that same way. I think it's something you learn over time. Some people never get it.
