This was an attempt at Lunarography the other night. Exposure is more difficult than I imagined it would be.

The moon is one of the toughest things I have tried to shoot. I have a picture of one I took somewhere. Came out ok, but took a lot of experimenting.

Spot meter the moon, add about 1/2 stop to start with. Tripod needed.

It may be the 8th sign of the apocalypse, but my life finally managed to free up enough for me to actually go take some new pictures this weekend.

Agreed Solo, I'd even say a full stop. even w/ spot metering most are overexposed and show up as a white sphere. I'd say better to underexpose and get the details of the surface.

A few years back in the height of my photography interest I became interested in strobes and lighting. I had purchased several flashes as I had determined the best way to go at the time was strobist. I wouldn't say I lost any bit of interest but just free time came to a minimum during my last two years of school. Well now that I am techincally done with school I have gotten back into it more.

Here is probably my best two attemps from way back and then my best attempt from my first try back into this area.

Back Then:

3 nights ago..a spectacular lightning show was happening a few miles from me...by the time i ran in to grab my camera the show was almost over..i did manage to catch the last bolt...i wish i had more time to set up though...just a quick shot...

this one was from yesterday..we had another storm roll through for about 30 minutes then the sun started to come out... i was on my way out and when i opened my garage...this huge thing was right in front of me so i took a quick snap...

It was my first (really shitty) attempt at tilt shift. This was taken last Christmas at the Grand Canyon. It was -7* at the time.

Heres another:

That one is the same way it came off the memory card.

Much better than before, given that dark grey cars are hard to strobe. Im also working on my lighting techniques a lot these days
