City Hall as shot:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/19385410@N00/4710429863/" title="bldg as shot by sho_nuff1997, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm2.static.flickr.com/1285/4710429863_1b7938270f.jpg" width="379" height="500" alt="bldg as shot" /></a>

City Hall straightened:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/19385410@N00/4710427401/" title="Straightened bldg by sho_nuff1997, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm5.static.flickr.com/4032/4710427401_394351895c.jpg" width="391" height="500" alt="Straightened bldg" /></a>

Is that all just distortion, or is it something I am doing wrong? I thought I was relatively straight when I took the shot.

Yeah its tough - I think it mainly has to do with lens characteristics - it's especially an issue with wide shots - a way to combat this is to use a zoom lens, go far back from the subject, and zoom in.

You may have seen photogs at weddings doing this, where they stand far back from the subject and zoom in for shots - the reason for this is it minimizes or even eliminates distortion because it makes the image plane flat or almost flat, as opposed to curved when you are right near the subject. Hope that makes sense.

I hate those chairs! Some of our classrooms have them and the backs have zero support. Makes it really hard to sit up straight

Why not convert it to BW? It looks like there's a little CA on the lower left dimples.

This one is from last year, but I was reminded of this trip after talking to a fellow photog today:

<a href="http://www.flickr.com/photos/ep_jhu/3981681735/" title="Around the bend by ep_jhu, on Flickr"><img src="http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3498/3981681735_736dee09e0_b.jpg" width="1024" height="1024" alt="Around the bend" /></a>

I know what you mean. I sat in them after I took some pics just to remind myself how much I despise them.

These chairs were in an outdoor theater next to the main theater.

Probably.. It was taken on a less than good lens with extension tubes. Yeah, I should convert to BW. I didnt think of that though.

Thanks!

We drove out to Colorado. Left last Friday and came back on Sunday morning. I have like 650 pictures, many in RAW - need to get through all of them, touch some up. I was looking to make myself a poster for my basement and I think I have the perfect shot

Is that pic on top from Water st and wells? I'm staring at that building right now
