thanks Jefford, this ended up being a consolation prize, I went out to get some back street and alley pictures in the North End, but hated all of them. Waited until it got darker and got these

^ I'm with you. I just love these hydrants for some reason.

My gf always gives me this look whenever I shoot these randome hydrants on the street.

I never knew our office had studio strobes and set up until today....... guess I don't have to buy flashes now...

I'm going to use these set up outdoor for my car shooting!

This pic was taken with 5D II with 24-70 (our company's camera)

maybe its just a matter of being immune to things because I see em so often. Though, having the river go right through the city really makes for some great photos. We have a channel that is kinda on the perimeter of the city, doesnt help like yours though

I know your city from the last time I was there (which was the first) - and I loved it! I especially love how you have that European old-town kind of feel to many of your places, just because of their place in history. Oh and love Quincy Market.

I like quincy market, but hate that theyve essentially turned it into a big strip mall. I totally love the north end, you go off the main streets and its amazing. I tried shooting in there the other night, but hand held in low light without IS > me

Agreed, lots of amazing restaurants (now home to the best restaurant in NA Alinea), great nightlife and a huge sports city!

You just have to get used to the redlight cameras, traffic, high taxes, and $$$ parking.

yeah, I've been through over 30 Chicago winters and am still here.. as sh*tty as the winter can get, a part of me feels like if the weather was like summer all-year round, I would feel like something was missing. The part I like about the season changes is the diversity in daily life. What would be ideal though is another home in some nicer climate (like somewhere in Europe, something like Spain) to escape to when I felt the need...
