The texture? It's just dirt and muck. The photo is of the ceiling of a Metro station here in the DC area.

well, it was kind of a 'placebo effect' test.. did you think it was the Tokina? or could you tell it was the (inferior) Tamron.

Correct exposure with just about any lens gives you a good image. Some give you CA and lens distortion up the ass, without them, doesn't matter what the lens is.

but lots of reviews said the Tamron isn't sharp. this is (I think clearly) not the case -

I really like the window washer pic... looks like they are falling off the building... neat effect with the angle... did you shoot it that way or crop it?

hey - they are not window washers - those are "boxes" that extend from the Skydeck on the 103rd floor of the Willis (Sears) Tower. And, you can walk out onto them and look straight down. It was pretty crazy feeling! A bit scary, I mean, I kind of had some trouble doing it! So this is 1,400 feet high, I shot it from the 43rd floor of a building a block to the north (where I work) with the 200 2.8 + 1.4x - I shot it at this angle, glad you liked it. It is cropped slightly from the bottom right.

here's a shot from the ledge - and why I was frustrated with the 10-24 - I don't think I got one good shot - I wonder if its because I was nervous to be standing there...

This shot is gonna be featured on the CBS2 Chicago news tonight at 10pm. They just put it up on the screen and say a few words about it etc. I will most likely have a youtube of it.

My company did this billboard.. just took a shot of it today for fun.

Oh yeah, I used my boss's monopod, and I'm seriously in love with it.. it's soooo handy!
