Growing on me a little bit too.

I'd still take the M3 first, but it's definitely not bad.

i like it
it looks cool....
i don't know how it will perform...that remains to be seen. The interior looks real nice IMO.

BTW, how many people actually "use" their M3's? A large portion of them are the SMG's...because that was the closest thing to an auto. I mean ... i don't like the fact that the IS-F comes in an auto...but does it really matter?

um..no... for those who want the most performance adn know that a manual with foot operated clutch cant come close in speed and performance of the new 8spd trannys

there is a reason why REAL racing dont use the manual transmission at all and focus on the sequential/semi autos in their cars

There's also a reason BMW has decided to offer the M6 and M5 with a manual after initially releasing them without one.

A have to give a for giving it a try. At least toyota is trying to do something. You couldn't get honda to put a V6 let alone a V8 in the tsx if you paid them a million dollars to do so. They tried to take on the performance leader. So even though the car doesn't do it for me I have to respect the effort.

ya...for people who dont care about performance and dont want to get the most out of the car.

and there's also a resaon why every single professional motorsport DO NOT USE a traditional manual. not F1, not WRC, not CART etc...

manuals simply can't come close to the performance of the new gen transmission where performance is the priority.

The best tranny in the world couldn't make this car any less ugly. I saw it today at NAIAS and it's 10x worse in person than it is in the pictures. The only thing going for it is the blue paint which looks nice. Everything else looks like it was designed by a 16 year old working at Pep Boys. I laughed out loud when I saw the exhaust up close and those laughs only got louder when I saw the hood.

Lexus made a big mistake with this one. They should have started from scratch instead of butchering an IS to make this contraption. There's not a good line to be found anywhere.

Although the IS-F isn't the BEST looking car ever but its a pretty decent looking one.

Everyone seems ready to call it ugly, yet the 3 series coupe (which the M3 will look a lot like) really isn't any better - just plain and boring. At least the IS-F looks interesting.

In your opinion. Looks pretty good to me.

If the IS250 or 350 weren't around to compare to the IS-F there wouldn't be as much of a problem. Problem is they made quite a good looking car, not so good looking. The lines of the car are all off. It doesn't look proper IMO.

yeah, DSG is a GREAT example. But your typical AT simply cannot predict a downshift like a MT, or at least a driver-orientientated transmission like SMG and DSG. Just because this new 8AT can shift great (supposedly) going up doesn't mean it can match the ability of a good driver's shifting heading into a tight corner, for example.

There is absolutely no performance reason for 8 speeds given the ability of that engine (great power all around) IMO. I can understand a high-revving engine which needs to be up there all the time. This is simply a way of saying "MB and BMW only offer 7 speeds, we have 8"

that's a matter of opinion. But many companies seems to be using the raised trunk design a la Bangle's controversial 7er design, Lexus and Acura included. That's the truth.

Also can't contest the fact that the 3er has become the benchmark in the segment. How many years has C&D had it on 10 Best? Something like 11 or 12, I forgot exactly how much but I regardless it's been on the top for quite some time.

I'm still not feeling the stacked exhaust and the ground effects (espec just past the front wheel arch), but if they price this puppy right, this could be a winner.

Of course, I would prefer a slick shifting TSX-like 6MT, but won't be holding my breath.

that is one of the most amazing colors ever.

i actually don't mind it too much, but yes, the hood and the flares make it look somewhat bulbous.

what i am 100% on though is needing to get rid of that exhaust set up.

The exhaust note sounds under...done. The grawl is there but it sounds too benign considering the specs of the car.

But I think I read most show cars get special paint treatment + highly polished + light.

The color is the best thing on the car. It's probably one of the nicest blues I've ever seen. There's a lot of depth and dimension to it, sort of like a candy blue.

It's hard to capture in a photo what the color looks like because it shifts as it rotates. The photos jesal posted make it look lighter than it really is. Here are a couple I took:

Well excuse me for not having a fancy camera

(i like the blame the camera and not the user)

I took a video of it spinning that shows the color better. I will post it soon.
