Post Hyundai and RKSport to Unveil High-Performance Genesis Sedan at SEMA

From Hyundai via WCF...

Hyundai is heavily pursuing tuning fans with a series of Genesis coupe projects (see related links) making debuts in SEMA early next month. However, their aspirations are not limited to their new sports coupe. Hyundai America Technical Center has enlisted the help of California based RKSport, Inc. to debut at SEMA a customized high-performance Genesis sedan. Naturally, it will feature various exterior modifications courtesy of RKSport, but the main reveal is a never-seen-before enhanced version of the Tau V8 engine developed by Hyundai's U.S. powertrain engineering team in Michigan.

"The 2009 Hyundai Genesis provides us a great opportunity to expand on the overall concepts originally designed by Hyundai engineers," says Bob Smith, owner, RKSport. "We plan on maximizing the performance abilities of the Genesis and are looking forward to developing a must-see car at this year's SEMA show."

"SEMA allows Hyundai to experiment with the rear-wheel drive performance and design of our Genesis platform," says John Krafcik, vice president, Product Development and Strategic Planning, Hyundai Motor America. "We expect the home-grown surprise under the hood of this Genesis will spark some interest with the crowd at SEMA."

We'll have to wait until SEMA for the engine's technical details and performance specs, but RKSport will be adding a composite hood, front and rear lower bumpers, side skirts, composite rear roof spoiler and trunk spoiler. Other bolt-on components include TSW alloy wheels, Baer performance brake package, K&N air intake, Eibach lowering springs and a Magnaflow performance exhaust.

Awesome!
Now it's the Hyundai version of the 300!

Now all it needs is metallic tint, half rolled windows, unnecessarily whopping bass, and 50 cent playing at the speakers peak

Well, not all.

I mean, take a look at Kicherer, IMSA...etc. Not all are bad.

No point in buying this car new (if at all) considering that Hyundais have terrible resale value. The rear window dip looks stupid too. So what if it makes it "unique"? It looks terrible and that's why no decent car maker will put it on their cars.

I am glad they made that distinctive design thats only for this Genesis coupe. Every future genesis coupe will have this rear window dip, it separate from other 99% coupe cars. Good job Hyundai!!

I like the license tag cutout in the trunk of your PS (eliminating the Hyundai logo). Looks, dare I say, Aston-ish....

Yea, I also like the rear cutout, however, i would like it with Hyundai Logo in there somewhere.

I would like to see the Hyundai Logo proudly displayed!!

The dip gives it character. And frankly it's never really been done before, so kudos to the Hyundai designers (finally).

Hmmm, this is what I'm wondering;

23K sticker price, do I choose:

Nissan Altima coupe 2.5s
Honda Accord coupe EX I4
Hyundai Genisis coupe I4-T

Tough choice, but with respect to performance the Genesis wins, and might edge out in aesthetics as well. Personally driving a Nissan, Honda, or Hyundai doesn't mean much, they're all in the same league.

Maybe the new Accord isn't all its cut out to be? Now its 2 members with the new Accord (coupe and sedan) who are thinking about going other cars.... one guy wants a WRX, then another guy is thinking about going to a Genesis coupe...

I think they're taking a few to SEMA. The one I saw a pic/drawing of looked pretty good. Hyundai is pushing for aftermarket support.

I just saw one of these bad boys on the street today in Fountain Valley, Near the Hyundai Headquarters on Talbert.

It was a lime green one; couldn't tell if it was V6 or Turbo I4. But it does look pretty damn awesome.

I am seriously considering getting this car instead of the Evo...

car will look awesome no doubt. but I'm not too sure about the interior. I read from Korean forums also that they don't think the interior is on par with the exterior.
