i saw the new civic coupe for the first time yesterday.. i think it was the LX or EX, not Si... I had to turn my head to look again cuz it was so fuking disgusting..

The front bumper looked like it had 2 big ass plastic cheeks. It looks worse in person than pictures.

I get that, I was being a wise ass

I commend Honda for sticking with a manual, however I think a dct should be an option for those that want it. The dct would not be my choice though.

Now if they would just stick that motor in some cars over here...

I agree, over at TOV there are people moaning about the 6MT..saying that this is 2014, not 2004, that MT shouldn't exist....lol

Honda has a DCT for motorbike, a DCT for engines with less than 200lbft of torque, and a DCT for sport hybrid, now they need a DCT for cars with more power as well as SH-AWD such as TLX V6, CTR, etc.

More info on the Type R...

Honda isn’t ready to show us the production version of its latest Civic Type R just yet, so at the 2014 Paris Auto Show, it's time for a new concept. This time, however, the concept’s impending arrival coincides with the release of the first specs for the car, which is scheduled for launch on the European market in 2015.

Power will come from a new direct-injected and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, rated at “more than” 276 horsepower. We hear the final figure may be around 320 hp, which makes sense since prototypes for the new Civic Type R have been benchmarked against the 355-hp Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG.

The engine will also feature Honda’s VTEC variable valve timing technology and a 7,000-rpm redline. Drive will be to the front wheels only, and Honda has confirmed that a six-speed manual will be the only transmission. The development team is said to have selected this option to maximize driving enjoyment, though whether this will limit the car’s appeal remains to be seen.

“The manual transmission allows the drivers to select the gear they want, for example, down from fifth to third when approaching a corner,” Honda engineer Suehiro Hasshi explains. “The concept of the new Civic Type R is to be the complete driver’s car so this was the best option.”

The new Civic Type R will also be the first Honda to feature an +R mode; activated by a button next to the steering wheel, +R mode adjusts engine torque-mapping, the steering and suspension dampers for maximum performance. The dampers, by the way, will feature four levels of adjustment, from supple to race car-like firm.

“The +R button brings out a more dynamic and athletic car for the driver, to set pulses racing,” Hasshi says. “The difference in character is immense.”

Another new feature of the car will be its Steer Axis system, designed to reduce torque steer. Recall that the new Civic Type R will be a front-driver, so, in order to deliver power to the wheels without disrupting the steering, the car’s front suspension system includes an additional mechanical system involving two kingpin-like supports.

No performance specs have been released yet, but Honda promises the Civic Type R will be faster than any Type R car launched in the past, including the NSX Type R (known as the NSX-R) sold exclusively in Japan the early '90s.

As for the latest concept, apart from a new shade of blue and some decals, its looks are almost unchanged from that of the original red concept shown at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, suggesting it’s likely to give an accurate impression of the production model. That production model will roll off the line at Honda’s Swindon plant in the U.K. and sales in Europe start next year. Sadly, as the car is based on the version of the Honda Civic we don’t get in the U.S., a local launch isn’t planned.

Hey you can benchmark against anything. It does not mean it will match or exceed the benchmark.

I heard NSX was benchmarket again P1....

What's the lap time of the CLA45 AMG at the Nurburgring?

My understanding is that the benchmark for the A45 AMG (not CLA) was the BMW 1-series M, and that car was good for 8:15. I believe A45 AMG is faster than that. The A45 AMG however is about 200lb lighter than the CLA 45 AMG.

Honda Civic Type-R finally will arrive at US coasts

The much desired Type-R, the hot-hatch version of the euro-spec Civic, will arrive soon at North America. Sources next to Honda revealed to MotoryRacing today that the new +276 hp 2-liter that will equipe the new Civic is in development to a next generation of US-spec Civic.

The 2015 Type-R is close to hits the european streets, but the US market has to wait. The euro-Civic lives another life, parallel but differrent, from the US-version. In Europe the C segment is hathcbak's kingdom, with less figures sales of sedan versions. The R&D of the different series has differents needs and headlines.

The hottest Civic never would come before 2015, when the europeans is waiting the launch of the Type-R, with a probably announcement at the end of 2015 and an early launch during 2016 for US-specs model.

Honda has to squeeze the recent updated Civic Si and to fit and tune the 4L turbocharged to US-spec Civic (Euro Type-R only has manual transmission), so you have to wait a little more for receive the first Type-R-esque engine since the birth of the legend in 1997.

1. Tune for US spec? i dont like the sound of that..... 276 -> 200hp?
2. There will be even less ppl buying ILX now.

My spidey senses tell me that that motor will end up in the ILX, so detuned for sure so it doesn't cut too much into TLX 2.4 sales. Maybe ~240hp?

Or maybe they should just put that motor in the TLX as well, and bump the V6 up in power.

^wishful thinking

Yessssssss!!! I'm mainly excited that we will be getting a boosted engine from Honda. The potential for this in other models is great.

Edit: I'm not sure how trustable that source is...

There's a chance that a US version would have independent rear suspension instead of torsion beam or trailing arm or something as found in the euro version.
