The TSX used the same K24Z3 as the Si.. Maybe the base TLX will eventally use a form of this engine? Does anyone have anymore info on this 2.0T engine? Torque, Redline etc..?

I really wish Honda would bring back the Civic hatch to the U.S. I loved them hatch backs.

Wow, in this shot, it almost looks like a mini STi.

I love the EUDM Civic so much. Damn plain and boring American market.

Yep, why give people something they might actually consider awesome when you already have the Crosstour.

Euro Civic's and Euro Accord's are super nice, especially the Type-R trim when available.

The TSX has the K24Z3 but the Si has the K24Z7. But other than a couple of lb-ft, I'm not sure what distinguishes one from the other.

In any event, not too certain of the specs on any of the upcoming turbo motors but I'm also eager to find out.

Interesting comparison here.

http://www.vtec.net/articles/view-ar...&page_number=3

K24Z7 (2012 Civic Si) vs K24Z3 (2011 Acura TSX 6MT)

Interesting results here. The curves are almost identical, up until about 5600 rpms. Then the TSX's K24Z3 output takes a brief dip while the Civic Si's K24Z7 keeps on pulling. At about 6300rpm, the torque curve of the TSX's K24Z3 suddenly levels off, which pushes the horsepower curve upward, giving the TSX about a 5hp peak advantage.

The ILX also has the K24Z7, no?

Yes, but paired only to the manual transmission trim model.

ILX with auto transmission has to settle for the lesser I4 engine.

1) Engine specs please.
They better have a turbo 4 in there.

2) Bring it to NA

If both 1 and 2 are not met by Honda, then chalk this up to yet another honda fail.

Yep...tis a fail then for you.

It's not more than a vaporcar that will never see production at least from what I'm reading here: http://www.motorauthority.com/news/1...n-geneva-video

Honda’s latest Civic Type R is nearing the end of its gestation, and at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show today we got our first definitive look at the completed car in the form of a thinly veiled concept version. The aggressively-styled Civic Type R concept is said to point to the styling direction for the production version that will go on sale overseas in early 2015, and takes inspiration from Honda’s Civic race car that competes in the World Touring Car Championship.

Interestingly, the design shows some new elements not seen on the regular Civic or the prototype versions of the Civic Type R we’ve been spying for the past year. The design is heavily linked to performance, with many of the elements offering real performance benefits, as confirmed by testing at the Nürburgring race track in Germany.

The shape and angle of the stand-out rear spoiler, for example, has been designed to provide additional downforce. Additionally, the upper and lower front grilles have been enlarged and air outlets on the hood provide cooling for the engine. The front and rear fenders have been widened to accommodate 20-inch tires, and air outlets are integrated to optimize airflow.

We recently drove a prototype, complete with Honda’s new direct-injected and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine, and found it to be absolutely brilliant. The engine also comes with Honda’s VTEC variable valve timing and should deliver at least 280 horsepower in production form.

The engine will be paired with a six-speed manual transmission and spin the front wheels. It’s not clear at this point if an automatic will be offered.

Unfortunately, the latest Civic Type R, like its predecessor, won’t be offered in the U.S. as it is based on the Civic platform designed for the rest of the world. The good news is that we may see some of the car's hardware in the next-generation CR-Z.

Even us Honda haters can't imagine Honda would be dumb enough not to offer this engine in NA at some point. And I'd expect to see it in more than one vehicle. TLX and a Civic of some sort at least.

It's 2014 for crying out loud!!!

Honda should have been putting a turbo 4 into their NA vehicles for over 10 years now.....but nope.

S2k should always be N/A. no amount of torque can replace the scream at 8k+ rpm.

You can't have high rev and low end torque at the same time. For s2k, i'd take high rev over torque any day.

Other cars might be different.

Mostly true, but like I said, I'd like to rock some low end torque in a next gen S2k.

I think its a moot point. The mere fact that the 2.0T exists is an indication that we'll never see an 8K+ redline NA 4 banger from Honda again. The 2.4 in the Si is more proof of that.

If this was the honda 20 years ago.

They might put a small turbo for low end and then boost will be cut off at 5k rpm and N/A all the way to 9k RPM. talking about engineering.

I'm really curious to learn more about this VTEC turbo engine. It seems if they can integrate the two technologies then there's no reason why they can't push more than 300hp easily. I guess the limit isn't the engine itself but rather how much power the chassis, suspension, drivetrain can handle. Hopefully since it's still got VTEC it'll be more rev-happy than these these turbocharged torque monsters we have nowadays.

Put down the Bong. Honda will never bring this state side, and even if they did it would be so dumbed down it wouldnt be worth getting. Typical Honda.

Supposedly (my source has been pretty accurate over many years) we'll get a lot of the tech in the next CR-Z

DCT, turbo I-4
