Seriously? Uhh, yeah. Most of us have been in (and owned) both.

Sigh. Call me when we have a TLX-S. Lots of nice tech, and the interior is pretty good, but they dulled the exterior somewhat from the concept car. I'm sure it will grow on me eventually, but I don't think I'll be a buyer.

Meanwhile, RLXs with Navi, used, less than 10k miles, are going for $35k, yes, $35k, at multiple dealers. That is the luxury steal of the year. And yes, I'm the nitwit who actually likes the RLX, especially with a decent set of wheels.

I'm not even sure they need "radical". Lets start with using real aluminum, real wood and upgraded user interface/graphics on navi (for example).

And I agree with Ken, hands down the best value in HondAcura's line up right now is the Accord Touring. According to carsdirect, I can scoop up one for 31k right now and probably could negotiate better.

Delusions of grandeur.

Come on now, be serious.

Acura is definitely Honda+. They weren't alone for a long time (my 2008 A4 was really close to a Passat), but now nearly every other luxury brand has escaped their more pedestrian brethren.

I disagree, the interior design cannot look like Honda with some frosting on top.

They need their own unique design language, inside and out.

Honda + has been a drag on the brand for a decade +

I've owned my fair share of both.

The difference isn't THAT great. It's not like the leather a night/day difference or Acura uses deep lamb's wool carpeting or handcrafted wood.

It's exactly what you expect in a higher price bracket, just another step up

It's not an insult nor a compliment really.

You are not allowed to harbor this sentiment and own a CTS-Vagon at the same time. The two cannot exist within the same human. Therefore, you must now forfeit your CTS-Vagon for no compensation.

This.

And it's why I'm hoping the new reshuffled management will be a good thing and lead to exactly this. It may be 4 or 5 years though until we see such an improvement though..

I'm going to go out on a limb and say Acura will not have great success with this car. While they may hit the 45K target in year one (may). They will not do it in subsequent years. Not without some significant improvements.

You and me both.

Let's hope you are right.

Who would have thought it would take nearly 2 decades to turn the brand around.........wow.

I'll change that slightly the best value in the line is the Accord Sport 6MT, $19K new in MD today. Any color you like as long as it's black or gray

No limb.....many (including myself) said as such quite a ways back.

The brand needed a home run. What they got is a single.....but the guy did round first and got halfway to second....then turned around when he knew he couldn't get the double.

Nice effort

Could have been worse....could have got caught looking on a 3rd strike call.

If they are not going to deliver, then just shutter the brand, put the MDX, RLX under the Honda badge (ala Hyundai Genesis, Equus) and be done with it.

You hittin' the bong pretty hard these days again?

They are perfectly capable of building great cars again. They can start by firing their wacky SoCal design team and putting the Power Plenum to pasture. Then they can redirect investments from HondaJet and ASSIMO back to their core strength.

When Acura was selling 80K/yr 3G TL's, that's not a drag.
And a 3G TL was not a frosted up Accord either, quite individual in many ways from driving/styling/components/...
The last 5 years yeah, but a decade +?
No the mid 2000's was when Acura was on the right track from both the car and SUV point of view. Then the cars got lost, while the SUV's continued on

Yes, but you need to fire the wacky red carpet athletes in SoCal first, they've been staring at too many fake boobies for too long.

If you dare, turn back the thread about 20 pages for peeps getting butthurt because I dared asked the question: Is it really that much of a let down?

I see a bunch of incremental improvements with less chrome and no side skirts. Net/net a mild positive and a step forward.

Totally disagree, it's when Acura actually got a reasonable product family and was selling alot of cars and SUV's. Today they're still ahead of Audi despite their cars.

Count me a fan of this car. The 2.4L competes with the IS250 and the 3.5L competes with the IS350. The TLX offers better performance and better MPGs than the IS, and I'm sure the 2.4L I4 with 8 speed DCT is way more exciting than the Lexus 2.5L V6. Throw in Honda reliability which can't be said for any of the German cars and this car is smart buy. I'm not sure what more people expected?

ok.....

...but I know, the apologists will always point to the sales numbers to deflect from the topics at hand.

It's an old tactic.

...but keep running with it if you think it works.
