290hp isn't a sexy number, but when has acura ever had best in class power? maybe there will be a type-s!

to be fair, this comparison started here:

So exactly what kind of values are you talking about?

Against 3G, it has less power but cost the same
Against competitors, it is likely to be cheaper but it also has less.

Value = same or better product at the cheaper price (Hyundai)
If you offer less everything for cheaper price, that is just CHEAPER, not value. (Acura)

Agreed. Who would brag about a 2015 vehicle being better than its 2006 equivalent? That's like those people who say crap like "I take care of my kids! I'm a real man!". You're supposed to do that!

Why anyone responds to him is the question I keep asking.

Just pretend its an ad you usually ignore and keep scrolling.

Considering that the current TSX has had the same 201-hp rating since its introduction as a 2009 model, I hardly think a 5-7% power increase is asking for too much.
Correction. HP numbers haven't really changed much since the TSX debuted in 2003. 11 years later and it's still the same.

2004 - 200 HP
2006 - 205 HP
2009 - 201 HP
2015 - 206 HP

Numbers don't matter as much as the performance of the car. It seems as though everyone is ignoring the fact that the TLX should be 1.5 seconds faster than the TSX which is what really matters.

Let's not forget the TLX will utilize an 8 speed DCT.

For many (most?) potential buyers, I'd say the numbers on paper matter a lot, especially when they'll be comparing it against others makes/models. They'll equate what they see on paper to performance even though that's not accurate.

That's how people tend to shop.... by comparing what's on paper. Most potential buyers don't pull out their copy of Car and Driver or Motortrend to see how the car performs in real life vs other makes/models.

so does a lower weight number matter? what about a lower 0-60 number? or a higher mpg number?

It seems the apologists are ignoring the "numbers" on the competitions cars in the same class as the TLX.

you do realize that 2G TSX is larger car than 1G TSX and TLX is larger than 2G TSX and it will still deliver real world better fuel economic, handling and performance.
1G TSX was designed for 215 size tire. 2G TSX for 225. so there is no shrinkage of width of tire to get better fuel economic.
I expect TLX 4cylinder to be closer to 2 second faster than 1G TSX at 0-60. and atleast 5 second difference at 0-120mph.
TLX is designed for ground up for SH-AWD. that system will be very effective even with all season skinny tire setup. not need 275 size tire.

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/..._awd_update_1/

The biggest difference in performance was in our figure eight testing. The RDX ran the course in 27.8 seconds with a max lateral acceleration of 0.77 g (avg), while the bigger and heavier MDX ran the course in 26.5 seconds with a max lat of 0.85 g (avg). A difference of more than a second is a lifetime on a track, especially one as short as our figure eight course. It seems the SH-AWD system really does make a significant difference

With the recent (and good) changes in Acura's leadership, expect to see some Type S models, particularly the TLX. More power, turbo and a possible manual option as well!

Peeps been hoping, praying, claiming, stating that for years.

Acura has a ton of work to do to change their track record.

Believe it when you see it, when it comes to Acura.

I'm hoping the current TLX is more of the "past" Acura, than the Future "changed" Acura.

The NA 4 cyl, mixed with the not best in class numbers for the old 3.5 V6 are not encouraging.

Let's hope in a few more years (MMC) they make a significant change.

I'll partly agree with you. But remember CAFE standards are priority #1 for manufacturers. The TLX is the bread and butter for Acura and needs to bring up the average.

Some of the performance options R&D has cooked up will now be fast-tracked for approval and production. Here's to a GOOD Type S option.

And a TLX Type-S with anything less then 400 hp would be another half measure because they clearly don't take anything seriously.

0-60 time
hp numbers
mpg number
ring lap time

These ALL matter A LOT for marketing, if you know anything about marketing.

Please, now you are getting ridiculous.

Type-S has never been on par with M, AMG, S, or even F.

I'd assume at best 25-35 additional horses courtesy of a 3.7 motor?, suspension upgrades, wheels, trim pieces...."maybe" a six speed manual option....maybe.

...and that's pretty darn good IMHO.

Type-S never was, and never will be an M or AMG.
...and that's ok......so long as Acura delivers a Type-S that is more than just window dressing trim bits and wheels.....which I think they can/will do.

Turbo V6 is just not in the cards.
