Acura: TLX News

You got the Laser light, didn't you
We had seen what Acura did to TLX during the first 2 years... they thought they had the best thing ever, thus, little to no discount was given and leasing rate sucked balls. The result was the sales was never as good as expected.
I dont see why they will do any differently this time around... especially now they have Type-S with Turbooo
So i would not be surprised that TLX-S will cost about the same as a M340i to buy and probably more expensive to lease than M340i. Especially considering that When TLX-S is released, M340i is not going to be new anymore. So even more discount could be had vs. a car with markup...

Audi builds S4, BMW builds 340i, Mercedes makes create. But most of the time we see a4 2.0t, 330i, or c300. Likewise I would see a normal q50 2.0t or 3.0t more often than a red sport. Based on that, I would expect to see the TLX 2.0t more often than the type s.

My C300 had a sticker price of $50k. Bought it 3 years old with 16k miles on it, CPO, at 46% depreciation.
My grandmother had an '07 S550, with 40k miles on it, sold private party in 2013 for $35k. IIRC, it had an MSRP around $115k.

You should ask Acura to make a $120k Sedan and see how fast it depreciates
Actually nevermind, even if they did, you would never know since no one would buy it.

There are plenty of RLX Tech models in the low $20k range with sub 30k miles. For a car that started at ~$55k-$60k new, that's some epic depreciation too.

Gotta look at percentages, not just the $ amount lost.
$125K BMW selling used for $72k - that's 43% depreciation
$55k RLX selling used for $25k - that's 55% depreciation
Funny how numbers work.

and the 5 years old underperforming i8 with only 3 cylinders and weak ass battery and more expensive still somehow have better sales # than a relatively new NSX? matter of fact, it outsold RLX in some months
What? are you gonna go back to resale value again and do a full circle in this conversation

its the resale value after than 6 or 7 year CPO warranty expires.
10 year old Acura NSX have much higher value than what ever 10 year old BMW.

I can sure you that if Acura creates $120k sedan. 10 years later its resale value will be higher than what ever BMW 7 resale value. $120K Acura sedan will triple turbo hybrid or full electric like Tesla. producing some where 1000bhp.

So those were not stored? I am sure they were driven daily.... 348 miles/15 years... 23 miles a year daily commuter.
what is next? its AC Vents are more ideally located?

An auction of epic proportions just wrapped up in Tokyo, Japan and one of 23 auction lots is getting media attention worldwide for the amount of money dropped. As per lot listing 13, a 2005 NSX R in iconic Championship white and with only 348 miles on the clock sold for 48,400,000 YEN which converts to $445,376.80.

Like a house you make the money when you buy it...
I purchased a loaded 2019 A Spec V6 SHAWD recently. The sticker on it was 46,000 but I was able to use the Honcker app to get the price down to $32,000. Since everyone wants RDXs nowadays they were willing to do it to move the inventory. 4 months later and I can trade it back in for the same $32,000 if not a little bit more. I am a fan of buying the thing that is out of fashion if it saves you a ton of money.

A day after Acura unveiled its Type S Concept with its angular face, long hood, sloping roof, and short rear deck, spy photos of the next-generation TLX surfaced. While heavily camouflage and cladding hid much of the sedan’s design details, there’s no doubt it features Type S Concept styling underneath. The first photos also gave us a look inside, albeit a small peek at the top of the dashboard. Today’s new Acura TLXspy photos show us much more of the interior than before along with a bit more of the exterior.
We see the same infotainment display atop the dash and analog tach gauge as before. But we also see the steering wheel and one of the column stalks that has what appears to be a “Camera” button at the end with an overhead silhouette of the vehicle, possibly hinting at some sort of 360-degree camera feature. The photos also show the instrument panel and a bit of the center console. There’s a good chance it could look similar to the RDX’s IP as we can see the True Touchpad Interface and volume controls on the center console.
Much of the car is still covered under heavily camouflage; however, we do see a hint of the front daytime running lights that look nearly identical to those on the Type S Concept as do the rear taillights; however, they are not as angular as the ones on the concept. Customers should expect the TLX to grow over the current offering with the new iteration receiving a longer wheelbase.
12 Photos
We don’t know what will power the TLX; however, there is a good chance it could use the RDX’s turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that makes 272 horsepower (203 kilowatts) and 280 pound-feet (380 Newton-meters) of torque. It’ll power the front or all four wheels through the rumored 10-speed automatic. The TLX Type S could receive the turbocharged V6 engine Acura is developing along with torque-vectoring Super Handling All-Wheel Drive.
The 2021 Acura TLX will debut late this year or early next before going on sale.

It's likely to be cheaper to use a digital screen for the gauges rather than having a digital screen and then some analogue gauges which are also fed by digital signals. The pointers, bezels, different units and translation, structures for holding the gauges, all cost extra $$. The 992 911 still uses an actual physical gauge for its tachometer for instance.
For me, I thought having actual gauges feel a bit more sporty rather one giant screen.

Those motors/controller and the needles/plastic assembly (all very cheap) for them are probably still much cheaper than a TFTLCD display which are replacing them.
Old article but in 2014, a auto electronics analyst put the cost of the 7" 800x480 LCD diplay at $40-50 not including the uP and S/W development cost to drive it, it's probably come down some.
The advantage? Many new buyers love the modern displays and it makes it very easy to modify the display for any function.
