Can't recall the last time I saw either on the road here.
I see them all the time around here, flabbergasted every time that someone walked in and said "yes, I want to spend my hard earned money on this car and not the far superior other car down the street".

Shocking for sure.
Just checked & there are only 4 Mitsu dealers in Houston. That alone would give me pause to buy one, since the closest dealer to me is 1/2 way across the city (25 miles, or at least 1/2 hour to 45 min) from me.
I like the interior if they could find a better grille design, it would make the front end look great. The designers need to stop making a specific grille part of their design language, especially when it hasn't ended up looking decent in a while now.
Agreed. The J series is over 2 decades old. It's not a bad motor by any means, but when you can get a Camry with more power, it's...sad.
The turbo V6 can't come fast enough (or, you know, four years ago).
At this point I'll take a turbo anything...
In all fairness, both of these renderings look really good. The MDX will for sure sell like hotcakes (if they finally get rid of that stupid double screen) and the TLX looks far better than ever before.
. Acura version with Premium fuel 310bhp and 10 speed auto will further improve performance.
This 310bhp and 6speed auto was started with RLX FWD in 2013. RLX FWD did not got 10 or 9 speed auto.

Send the power to the right fucking wheels, give it more than 300 hp and dump the ridiculous v6 from when @Majofo was still allowed to go to playgrounds.
And we know the final version is just going to look like a more bland Accord with funky lights.
Just a day after seeing the debut of the Acura Type S Concept, new spy shots confirm that the next-gen Acura TLX has a strong resemblance to it. This test mule is under heavy camouflage, but the similarity is hard to miss. There's even a view of the cabin in the gallery.

Looking for design details on this camouflaged test mule is futile because the engineers cover nearly the entire body in black and white covering. Only portions of the pillars and roof are exposed. However, the proportions of the test mule and Type S concept are practically identical. Both of them feature a fairly long hood and short rear deck. An arching roofline creates a coupe-like silhouette.
The single interior photo indicates that there is a portrait-oriented, tablet-style infotainment screen that integrates into the top of the dashboard. There appear to be analog gauges, at least for the tachometer, judging by this picture.
The standard version's powertrain is currently more of a mystery. However, it might share the latest RDX's 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 272 horsepower (203 kilowatts) and 280 pound-feet (380 Newton-meters) of torque. The powertrain would likely run through a 10-speed automatic. Sharing the setup with the crossover could mean the TLX would be available with front- or all-wheel drive.
The next-gen TLX could debut before the end of the year or in early 2020. Look for it to go on sale for the 2021 model year.
Just wondering where's the $55k price tag coming from?
The most expensive TLX is the TLX V6 SHAWD with the advance pkg with a MSRP of $46k.
Not sure how Acura will position the new TLX. I think what we will see is a TLX 2.0T that will replace the current TLX 2.4, and the TLX Type S replacing the TLX 3.5.
When Acura introduced the new 3g RDX, despite having a way better interior and a whole lot more features, the price wasn't increased by a whole lot. Granted, the new TLX will gain a 3.0T V6, so we might see a bigger jump. But I'd imagine if the $55k price tag that's being thrown around is true, that's probably the fully loaded TLX Type S model. A less loaded one will probably be below $50k?
For comparison, the M340i starts at $54k and can go up to $70k for a fully loaded one (not including accessories).

It is a standard Honda/Acura practice that the top-of-the-line trim (in this case the TLX Type-S trim) is almost always fully loaded. As such, we may only see the TLX Type-S price tag to be way above $50k, but not below.
A less loaded one, at below $50k, will likely just be a fully-loaded regular non-Type-S (or even FWD) trim.
On the other hand, a Type-R trim will be sparingly loaded, because racing drivers want them strip down to minimum weight for track use.
