Does marketing really drive your purchase decision? Jon does seem a bit robotic, but it shouldn't disqualify the NSX as a car it it proves a capable performer.

Time will tell... maybe Acura is no longer targeting me, the guy who can afford an NSX but does his own timing belt changes?

Ps. Looks like they are after the "more money than brains club" lol.
Not sure why you'd throw that last comment in, it seems self serving at best.

I'm all for "less pedestrian" and custom ordering, but the interior styling theme overall seems to be too much of a mishmash of materials and lacks unity judging from just the pictures so far. And the top stack vents looks like I'm staring at the front of a camaro.

I'll continue to nitpick until I can drive one. Quite fond of the exterior styling so far with the proper wheels and minus the poorly designed afterthought off-color spoiler lip extension wing whachamacallit. Looking forward to the carbon grey exterior color option as that's the one I'm leaning to.

The delay at this point doesn't bother me as I wasn't going to buy one in December to park until Spring anyway. Let's just get the bugs and launch done correctly.

Its confidence in the brand that does it for me. A byproduct of marketing. Reason, a confident exec will drive his people to stand behind their product and service when things don't add up to $150k.

I don't think any reasonable enthusiast disputes that Acura as a brand has been a bit lost in recent years. But would "confidence" in the brand really be a prerequisite for you if you drive the NSX and like it? Or is it simply a marketing decision for you? The proof is in the product, not the marketing behind it IMO.

So a bunch of executives/designers etc... ALL with a good amount of time invested in the product showing confidence in the product is enough of a good reason for you? They could all be like deer in headlights with tunnel vision. If you are so focused on your product to not be truly objective, you can very easily lose sight of the real world thinking needed and believe that yours is best, thinking that the product is perfect where its at and there is no need to do better (many fanboys do this daily).

The only thing missing from that video are arms up the rear ends of these fellows. That was a very dry cue card reading. Not confidence inspiring. Acura should have picked someone that ACTUALLY knows the new NSX and is passionate about it, and can speak to it without reading a teleprompter.

Maybe by the time it finally comes out the interior won't look like it belongs in a TLX.

OK, looking at that blue has calmed me down somewhat. Holy moly, I must find a way to get one of these.

The delay from fall to spring is only six months.....but for the love of pete don't further repeat what happened with the RLX Sport Hybrid, and don't release a lesser (RLX PAWS) model first to ruin things. Please, Acura? Your whole rep is riding on this car.

PS if you put a twin turbo V6 into the RLX, in combination with the hybrid system, I WILL BUY IT. I will trade my Sport Hybrid tomorrow for that. Re-introducing it as a Legend would be icing on the cake.

Even if it had been tuned up more than say the RLX platform's hybrid drivetrain it wound not have been competitive in the current exotic marketplace. None the less it's good they went to the longitudinal dry sump twin turbo V6. Gives a solid platform with lots of power growth.
Here's my thought. In 2011/2012, when Honda decided to bring the 2G NSX to reality, the idea was to create a modern NSX that is similar to the 1G NSX. That means mid-engine, rear wheel drive, transverse NA V6 engine. To give it something unique, they were going to add the 3-motor setup.

I'd imagine the above was the idea from the Honda HQ, upper management. I think the engineering team knew that such set up wouldn't be competitive power-wise. The car might drive very well, but as we can see in this forum, power is very important, especially if Honda were to ask for $150k+. People naturally will make comparison. It's also well known that the likes of GT-R, R8, 458, 911, were going to be re-designed by the time the NSX is launched in 2015/2016. As such, bu by late 2012, early 2013, the transverse NA V6 plan was replaced by a longitudinal boosted V6. It gives Honda a much higher ceiling to boost output in the future too.

I think its a mistake... They should have targeted 70-90k price tag, made it an NA V6 with the hybrid in the 450-500 HP range, then have an R model with boost. Target the 911 Carrera, SL500 people, BMW M buyers with a supercar look, reliability, and fantasic handling...

I also think their marketing campaign should be 'Aggressively Smart Luxury'. or just 'Smart Luxury.' Cutting edge design like the 1g NSX, 3g TL, RSX... great tech, great value.

Everything about this is extremely optimistic.

Reminiscent of the whole "Tier 1", V8 + RWD speculation we had a few years back.

Smart Luxury is a good angle. Unfortunately they go overboard with how "advanced" and "thrilling" they are.

Post Arriving As 2017 Model

More tidbits from here: Acura NSX Starting Production Next Spring, Arriving As 2017 Model

If you’ve been eagerly awaiting the arrival of the new NSX supercar, be prepared to wait a little longer. Acura has confirmed that production of its hybrid supercar has been pushed back until the spring of 2016, with the main cause of the delay being the decision to switch the layout of the V-6 engine and add turbochargers.

Production was originally slated to start this fall, with the first cars due in showrooms early next year. Acura isn’t saying when sales will actually start, though the automaker has confirmed that the new NSX will arrive as a 2017 model. Pricing is expected to fall around the $150k mark, which is pretty much in line with pricing of rivals such as the Audi R8 V10 and BMW i8.

The latest delay is sure to ire fans that have been waiting almost a decade for the car. Recall that Acura originally confirmed plans for a new NSX back in 2007. However, the original design, which called for a front-mounted V-10, was dropped following the global financial crisis. Plans for a mid-engine, hybrid NSX was devised shortly after and in 2012 we saw a concept of the car. At the time, the production version was said to be coming in three years, but now it looks like the wait will end up being considerably longer.

Compared to its rivals, the new NSX is unique in that it will combine a twin-turbocharged V-6 engine with a nine-speed dual-clutch transmission and trio of electric motors, a setup Acura says will provide “on-the-rails-cornering” performance and a peak output somewhere close to 550 horsepower. To cut down on weight, some carbon fiber will be used in the construction, for example for the roof, engine cover and even the brake rotors.

There will still be plenty of luxuries, with Acura confirming some of the features during this past weekend’s Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. Some of the niceties will include leather and Alcantara trim, a nine-speaker premium audio system from ELS, a navigation system, SiriusXM satellite radio, and parking sensors.

That probably wasn't worthy of the NSX nameplate. When the 1G NSX was launched, it was an exotic that made Ferrari and Porsche went back to the drawing board. It made the world rethink what an exotic car should be like. It was not in the mould of a luxury GT coupe like the SL500, or ultra high performance coupe, like the M3. The NSX was a purebred exotic.

My understanding is that fter launching this 2G NSX, there's supposed to be a Type R version that is substantially more expensive with even higher performance. This NSX is just the beginning.

Another rumour, and I think some of us have seen renderings already, is that there's supposed to be a baby NSX. That car is probably similar to what you described above, probably with a bit less power, in the 350-400hp range. That's supposed to be in the 50-60k range.

My NSX v2.0 decision is going to be based 100% on quality of service, i.e. What I wrote before about confidence in the brand. If the Acura brass fails to dispose of the traditional honda stealership mentality (I have been exposed to that, numerous examples over the past 20 years), and doesn't inflict change in this department then the NSXv2 will be a $150k civic with trunk rattles and windshield whistles. Honda hates me, please Acura love me lol

But just in case, I'll skip the 2017 NSX model and go for the 2018. Beta tester I am not!

PS. I too want a cbr1000rr so much, but my significant other has some objections!!

These Supercars Have All Debuted While the World Waits for the Acura NSX

Sad but this does bring the wait into context, hopefully the 2G NSX will be worth it.

So what the fuck was the the NSX powered by when they revealed the car back in January? It sounded badass, but if what Ikeda is saying is true, there apparently wasn't even a fucking engine in that car. Probably just a few speakers on the outside playing Ferrari engine sounds

Also, what the fuck has been propelling the cars across the US? This whole situation smells like a massive pile of shit. There's more deception here than from all federal governments put together from around the world

But just in case, I'll skip the 2017 NSX model and go for the 2018. Beta tester I am not!

PS. I too want a cbr1000rr so much, but my significant other has some objections!!
honda stealership lol, you really need to try lexus, bmw, mercedes service if you think honda service is stealing. those guys try to get away with murder.
