Acura: Development and Technology News

i just realized they said..
"Acura will also use the 2013 updated to swap out the car’s 3.7L V6 for a new 3.5L V6. The new mill will feature fuel saving technology like cylinder deactivation and automatic stop/start, and a hybrid option will also be available."
If both the 3.5 and 3.7 are replaced with a 3.5 with VCM, then no more acuras for me. I HATE vcm.

1.) lol...well...may be he WAS talking about the upcoming BMW FWD cars. Here's an article on that:
http://www.leftlanenews.com/bmw-defe...offerings.html
i'd laugh at every FWD BMW on the road if they are really going to offer FWD cars under BMW Brand. offer more cars with Mini brand if they want a piece of the FWD market.
2.) Ok, you take the 2.3L turbo that gets 17/22mpg...I will take the hybrid that will probably get 30/28mpg
From the articles, it says 2.5L and a hybrid option, not necessarily mean 2.5L Hybrid. You can have your 30mpg if it uses the same hybrid engine from the civic.
3.) Huh? If they are designing a new 3.5L, then I'd imagine it will be more than 270hp, since the current J35 is already making more than that. For comparison, the 1st gen RL had a C35 that was making 210hp. The 2nd gen RL however got a J35 that made 300hp. That's 90hp difference despite having the same displacement. Not saying the new V6 will again make that big leap, but I'd imagine it will get more than just 10hp. If the difference is only 10hp, then the mpg would probably go way up.
"new 3.5L" we will see how new is Honda's "new" There is a limit to 3.5L, especially for cars like TL/RL. I would guess it is not going to be much more than what TL-S is having now, regardless how NEW that 3.5L is.

It's pretty much the same article from the same source(automotive news) re-worded again and again.
We don't know how legit the original article is though so I would say it's just rumors for now.

1.) Here's a spy pic of the FWD BMW:
http://www.worldcarfans.com/11106023...the-first-time
2.) Yea. It's all speculation. Just stating one of the possibilities and how I don't mind it too much if it's a 2.5L hybrid that makes around 240hp/240lbft of torque while getting around 30mpg. Again, not saying this will happen.
3.) The thing is, the current J35 is old. It doesn't have the newest tech. There's no DI, it uses SOHC. There's no i-VTEC..no A-VTEC....and the list goes on. Nonetheless, it still has a pretty high bsfc for such low tech engine. Unless DI, turbo/supercharger, DOHC, etc, are useless, I'd imagine the gain should be more than enough.

Really, I am not trying to give you a hard time or be some kind of stickler but sometimes people express this type of attitude for the wrong reasons and/or it comes from the wrong places and while I am not suggesting that in this case, I think you would agree that a real answer would not only add substance to the discussion but also help others better relate and understand where you are coming from.
I think I will add to this question as well, if that is something you would be willing to discuss. What is the vehicle out of any brand that is the closest to being exactly what you would like in a car that you are actually able to buy and would definately purchase?
Would you like to see Acura produce a comparable product and how much would you be willing to pay for it? Which one would you then prefer to buy and for what reasons over the other?

V8's aren't that important when you don't carry a true sports car.
Flagship? The RL is coming through the pipeline (or so i've heard)
Supercar, I agree with you here. I want the NSX back (maybe it can have your V8)
New grill, why? Acura wants to stand apart, that bling beak does it.
Coupe, rumor mill is saying a 2 door accord (tsx variant) is around the corner or possibly the return of the RSX
Lower suspension, really? I mean really? And risk putting Tein out of business?
New wheels, I personally like Acuras wheel choice with the only exception being the tsx.
MT option, I can understand this
V6 tsx wagon, I agree here as well
K24T, I wish.
I like acuras current lineup, I just wish they would jump to DSG/6AT (or 7AT) and maybe pick up cooled seats as well (not just heated). I'm looking at possibly a 4g TLSHAWD but I'm waiting to see the 2012 changes to the tsx first.

RWD is not necessary, they have AWD for performance and FWD for economy

WRX goes out of hole like a crazy bat for sure. Put about 1.5-2 car lengths on my car instantly. I start to reel them in pretty damn fast from the beginning of 3rd gear. By the time I'm almost done with 4th gear, I'm in front of my friend's 2011 WRX and put more lengths as the race goes on further. This happens every time we try it. And it was the pretty much the same thing when I only had my motor mount and intake.
On a sushi race, he has no chance whatsoever.
AWD cars are not fast without several bolt-ons at least. They need more power to keep up with the same powered FWD or RWD. It just feels VERY fast as it launches like a crazy monkey.
It's just funny how some people with STi and EVO always think their cars are the fastest cars on the road. Yes, they are BRUTALLY fast when modded right , that's for sure.

First Photos! 2014 Acura RSX Sedan!
We just spied the newest Acura: An upscale sedan riding on the Civic platform and due to arrive for the 2014 model year!
RSX? That's right! Sources are speculating that the TSX will be discontinued after the 2013 model year and the slot in the lineup will be replaced with the familiar RSX name.
The sedan, as shown here in pre-production prototype form, will arrive in the first half of 2013, with a coupe and possible convertible to follow a year later.
Although riding on the Civic platform, this is no rebadged Honda. The RSX will be larger than its Civic cousin and, therefore, have unique styling and sheetmetal.
Brenda Priddy & Company
Just a quick note, but given the finished, "production-ready" look of this test car, and based up on what we have heard all along, I'm still thinking this "Sub-TSX" car will go on sale in 2012 as a '13 model. Also, I'm not sure this car will be badged as the RSX yet.

Acura needs a smaller sized sedan. The current sedan line-up has only grown bigger and heavier for every newer generations, despite the tightening CAFE requirements.

The grille is not offensive if its similar to the one on the TSX and 2012 TL. The beak grill of the 09-11 TL would kill it. I think Acura learned its lesson with that one. Let's hope.
