Type-S is almost here.

All Type-S wheels are 20", standard wheels come with Perilli All.Seasons it has been mentioned many times and is probably on Acura.com as well. I actually like the look of the multi spoke wheels, with the darker finish will be a PITA to keep clean though.

Did you watch the SG video review? He launched on an empty road. You can use your stopwatch and the HUD speed in the video to come to your own conclusion.

Using a stopwatch to time a video of a HUD of mph is terribly inaccurate when we're talking milliseconds.

My comparison is a S5 SB with sports exhaust, it has a rev limiter too (quoted to keep playback time)

I believe on Throttle it will sound way better. Let’s wait and see what the reviewers show us!! It sounds good so far and it’s headed in the right direction.

Had high hopes for Type S seeing the preliminary overview and 0-60 times of Aspec 6.2 is real world accurate. Depending on the street grade or wind gusts can make a difference lets say its 6 second car.
Acura made S-type chassis stiffer, with bigger 20" wheels better handling, 10 speed transmission shifts smoothly . Wish they used ZF- 9 speed or 8 speed, while their 10 speed transmission has shown no troubles with reliability and cost is factor time will tell if it can withstand the power output for tuners. Power of the 3.0 liter engine 350 hp and torque seems on par with C43 years ago and 340i yet still trail in performance within the 0-60 times i'm certain. Acura needs to develop small battery hybrid powered like Lexus and BMW do with m440i to get the competitive edge of speed and podium finishes with 0-60 times in low 4 second mark.
Will take Acura constant improvement to the S-type over the years unless they stop making them in short production run limiting capacity to have a false demand for this model. Every 14 years they come out with special edition to anticipate there performance roots keeping it as grand touring halo car that is affordable. In any case wish they made coupe version of this power plant rather than sedan. Since the older accord coupes were found to be less agile and performed worse than the sedans honda produced market share shrunk for coupe's making it instinct. Not financially profitable to manufacture or sell. Don't know how BMW or Benz keeping making coupes without losing their shirts.
Conclusion find often the grass isn't greener on the other side. Type S is fast will pull away any turbo 2.0Liter TLX stock from the factory. Once the warranty runs out tuners getting their hands on both turbo engines will make more HP then we can imagine. Reliability might be questioned or suspect on 3.0L Type S when boasted above factory specs 440 hp to rival M3, M4 cars will see how the future of the model hold up. Bet the 2.0 L turbo with tuned ECU and running higher boast will be on par with Tyoe S in many ways add brembo brakes and bigger tires two models Aspec and type S will be indistinguishable with the history of the two models.
It's all about bang for your buck. 3.0 liter engine looks nice but 2.0 liter might be more reliable and importantly better for your pocket book.

Can't wait for some sort of videos and info. These journalists are probably having a blast Look at here, the activity of this forum is insane in the last few days? MB or Audi owners, even if they moved away from Acura for years. Still they want to know about the TYPE S. It's doesn't matter that they point positive or negative things about the car. At the end of the day, it shows how important the Type S for the market. That's huge for Acura!

100% agreed with you. Also, I can tell you 90%+ of buyers will never care for -0-60 and even those who care will use it 1,2,3, 4 and will forget about 6.2 vs 5.95. Let's be real. Who buys a TLX 2.0 to race on streets and tests every day 0-60. This isn't C63 AMG with a price tag of $100K.

Drive-by(s) from Laguna Seca at 0:50 and 3:00 minute marks. They're not letting journalists rip individually, they're paced by NSX in the front. Boring.

Acura brought an Audi s4 to the launch event. I’m guessing the Type- S has the same 0-60 or faster than a s4. It wouldn’t make any sense for Acura to bring a s4 to the Type-S launch event if the s4 out performs the Type- S.

LOWS: Quiet, undramatic performance; tacked-on touchscreen; not much rear-seat space. LOL

If the new TLX-S breaks 12 seconds on the 1/4 mile, then I consider it a win for Acura. I don't really care about 0-60.

The S4 can do it in 4.3s, would be shocked if the Type-S is below 4.8s. The Audi's power is underrated and the TLX weighs like 200lbs more I think.

well considering I just got my ‘16 TLX V6 late last year... I won’t be doing no trades unless I miraculously come into a good bit of money this summer. And even then I would only buy it if i can get it for the MSRP or less. It’s not even worth the dealer markup price and barely worth the msrp price imo.

On one hand, enthusiasts likely care more about the total performance package and can forgive it if it's 0-60 number stink. As long as they give the journalists a lot of track time, I think th reviews will be solid. On the other hand, I'm not sure how many people will be tracking this car, and as a daily driver the ability to point-and-shoot and accelerate hard in a straight line is a more relevant performance feature. Methinks the long term reviews might be a little less rosy once the twists and turns of a track are replaced by freeway onramps and stoplights.

I think it's been a foregone conclusion that the Type S is not going to be able to beat the M340i when it comes to outright performance. Only the fanniest of fanboys are still taking the "wait and see, Acura is on fire, we don't know any facts yet!" stance. And that's OK; trying to beat BMW at performance is a fool's errand, and both Audi and Merc sells plenty of their cars without having to beat BMW at the track.

They always targeted the S4 and C43 with the Type S. The issue is they targeted where the competition were 5 yrs ago and they have all or will be all moving on. With that being said I fully expect the Type S to do 0-60 in 4.7 or quicker, anything else would be a complete fail. The HP is greater than Audi, but Torque lower, the elephant in the room is the lower gearing will it be longer to protect the SHAWD thus robbing launch performance.
