Poor sales?

Im from Jersey but currently in the Fort Myers area and have seen a few 2G TLXs around here, Estero and Cape Coral. But in general, I see very few Acuras in this area. (In my travels, the dropoff in the number of observable newer Acuras is substantial once leaving the northeast.)

I finally saw a 2G TLX on the street tonight, in the Haight of all places no less.

I've seen zero outside of the dealership, here in the Cleveland area. But RDXs are EVERYWHERE.

We have a Buick Enclave SUV in our driveway doing Mommymobile duty, so your comment hits hard...I tried to convince my wife to let me buy her a MDX...she wasn't having any of that... It's our road trip warrior.

I FINALLY saw a new tlx on the road. I was pissed because I had to stop at the red light, but then I saw this car coming off the highway and was like what is that? I kept looking at it and realized it was the tlx after i looked in the mirror and saw the tail lights. I was like oh shoot that was the TLX! It was dark but I think it was a black one.

What would cause the big jump in IS sales? Is +128% a typo?

Wow, didn't realize all luxury small sedans are taking that much a drop in sales. Know it's a SUV/CUV market these days but even the 3 series is not that impressive.
Gotta look at GCBC to see how much of this is the chip shortage impact and how much is SUV/CUV impact

But I thought Audi is the bestest car evar?!!? How could all mighty A4 sell less than the crappiest vehicle in its class, TLX?

Second only to the C8 Corvette, the refreshed IS 350 was the fastest selling vehicle in February 2021, spending only an average of 14.5 days on the dealer lots. IS 300 is selling quickly too. Obviously, this doesn't tell the whole story, as Lexus likely isn't producing a whole lot (for good reason), but I think it has a lot to do with Lexus underestimating how much of a hit this vehicle would be.

Easy, high inventory at Acura dealerships plus increased discounts. Unless things are different in the US, inventory is very low for A4/A5, and even less for S'.

I still can't find any sales data for Mercedes...so no C Class data.
Lexus IS had its worse quarter in well over a decade for 2020 Q1. In fact, the whole first half of 2020 was terrible for the IS, a lot worse than previous years. I'm not sure what was the issue for 2020. But there was a huge jump for Dec 2020, even compared to Nov 2020:
Aug 2020: 1212
Sep 2020: 1531
Oct 2020: 1362
Nov 2020: 2289
Right now, Lexus and Acura are running a lease deal where you can pay $369/month for 36 months for a IS350 F Sport (MSRP $44k) and a base TLX 2.0T FWD (MSRP ($38.5k). Down for both is just under $4k. IMO, Lexus' offer is a bit more aggressive. I'd imagine most cars in this segment have money on the hood. I mean there are folks here who bought M340i with $10k off.

These numbers are fake lol! Secretly A4 outsold all of these cars. What you will hear now is the following:
- Acura is offering high discounts
- Lower rate
- Inventory issue
- TLX got good reviews
- and the list goes on...
All of the above are not true as Q5 had an amazing quarter and doing super well.

Hope Acura continues providing good discounts...They got a great lineup but need to be careful with their pricing. At the end of the day, people won't pay the same price for a TLX as 3Series.

We all know Germans are always been aggrieves with discounts and low lease rates. Acura and Lexus were horrible historically. I think they are changing now. I have to say infiniti is copying more the German brands. I always see $8-$10K off on Q50 Red Sport and $4-$6K on Q50.

Acura needs continued success from MDX/RDX in order to subsidize and support sales of the sedans. If the MDX were to lose its 3-row luxury crown, it's probably game over...

The problem for Acura is they can only imitate so much. Acura is a true small-market car company that only serves the US and Canadian market. Volkswagen/Audi is the 2nd largest car maker in the world and can afford to have many little paper cuts while Acura cannot.

But I am sure Acura offer discounts and rebates. It doesn't need to be like infiniti by offering $10K off but something to attract customers. Lexus can afford but as you said Acura cannot afford to offer these heavy discounts 12 months a year.

100% agreed! if you see I always say that. It's unfair to compare Acura to Audi. Audi is giant.

Today was the first time I saw an a-spec TLX (blue) with the body kit. I think Acura should make the side underbody spoiler standard on the a-spec and type-s. I got a picture from the back, but it’s very low quality and it doesn’t show the side underbody spoiler.

2019 China Acura sales = 14,781

"As the entire auto industry continues to rebound from the challenge of a global pandemic, Honda and Acura are gaining both momentum and market share," said Dave Gardner, executive vice president of Automobile Sales for American Honda Motor Co., Inc. "We're excited to have significant all-new products on the way in the form of the 2022 Honda Civic and 2021 Acura TLX Type S, but it's the strength of our existing product lineup that is driving our record sales."

So all the doom and gloom about TLX sales seems premature, another strong month in April-2,848 following March which was 3,041.
As we can see from the new buyers posting here the car seems to be gaining traction. As those of us who drive it already know it may not be for everybody but it has many positive attributes and is the best Acura sedan I have ever driven.
