Yup, correct. Unless he's brake torquing the hell out of it on an incline, no idea how.

Great review by my favourite Alex! Regardless of his opinion. I respect Alex and I can’t stop laughing how many times he said it’s a lot of fun!

you want fun! That’s it. Well done acura.

Check the comments for the video, minus the exterior not many are praising it. Acura has a problem.

Geeze his post drive thoughts were not kind. He's usually pretty positive. Guess he drank some of that Acura marketing koolaid too. I’m surprised he went off on the interior; from the pictures it actually looks pretty good, but maybe like a lot of Hyundai/Kia interiors they photograph better than they actually are.

So, sounds like driving dynamics is good and it’s fun, like I predicted, but the numbers are going to be rough. Steady yourselves gang, we’re going to be seeing some really lousy test results in the coming weeks/months...

We need actual footage of someone doin 0-60 and 30-120... Can't just listen to all these different opinions. And he said the tranny was great with quick downshifts?! While we saw what Straightpipes got... uggggh... I want them to do well, I really do. But I want facts.

We do have 0-60 footage. I even pulled the video to get a more precise 0-60 time from the frame numbers

So thus far, Alex and TSP have been pretty ho-hum (and downright negative) about this car. I'm curious to see what Sofyan says, as these three (ok four if you count Jakob and Yuri as two people) are distinguished members of the stay-positive-and-find-the-silver-lining club.

I'm scared to see what Mark is going to say.

From Alex, regarding metal is imitation:
It's not real in the A-Spec trim. The wood in the Advance is real and its assumed Type S will get real aluminum, but this was plastic. We checked.
That price increase is not fully justified, Acura is not being honest. They clearly said if it looks like metal, it's metal.

Well, we’ve been having a lot of wild fires out here. Maybe with all the smoke he misread a 6 as a 5...

Where might you have gotten this quote and what piece is being referenced? Just curious.

I believe Alex was mentioning speaker grill in video and said it was plastic. Someone told him in comments that it should be real, he confirmed it was plastic.

I think when he was talking about the trim by the ambient lights, I was thrown off by that too, and the faux leather part as they said anything that looks like leather is real leather, wood, metal...

that's a pretty big difference lol, and he said the tranny drops gears pretty quick... and we saw what happened when TSP did it.

Well excuse me ... Acura clearly said all of it should be real. Any piece should NOT be plastic if silver/metallic. It caught me off guard too since there should be no fake touch points.

Could be that some of the cars perform well, while others stunk. Kind of like how some 1G ZF9 transmissions were hot garbage, while others were merely kind of bad.

Are you freakin serious, Acura lies and it's my fault. Just go buy the car already ... still a good value right with some fake pieces

I kind of expected the stitched leather on the dash and console to be faux leather given the price point, but did Acura say that it was supposed to be real leather?

Man that leather, or imitation leather really isn't holding up well on that passenger seat. Probably a lot of testers in that car, but this thing had less than 500 miles on it.

Also I'm trying to figure out how they managed to put in the electric servo brake system from the NSX, but yet came in at worst in class braking performance. What gives.

Unhappy 2021 TLX-2.0T Straight-Pipe Review

I heard ...

0-60 acceleration is only FAIR

30-70 acceleration and down-shifting (like for passing or getting on highway) is POOR
SH-AWD feels "wormy" ? Sounds like FAIR/POOR
Wrong ($1000) tires for curves and SH-AWD = FAIR/POOR
- Add this to lame rims
TouchPad interface is DEAL-BREAKER = POOR
Production looks vs Concept (blah-blah - who cares)

And I didn't want to Drift it, but I liked the idea that it could be ... in a legit way.

At least the 3 reviews I have watched so far are consistent. I'm kinda sad. Not sure Tech/SH-AWD is worth $45,000 usd.
Dealer emailed this morning. They are un-loading first ones off truck.

The Brembo system is only in Type S but yea the Electro servo system from NSX shoulda helped! Can't trust shit these days... I dont want a more complicated system if it isn't helping, that's for damn sure

Couple of issues: First, Acura and Hondas tend to use smaller clampers than most other cars, probably to reduce cost and unsprung weight. But secondly, and most importantly, the tires are probably holding it back. Just listen to them howl even with some moderately aggressive driving.

In any case, I think the electro servo brake system is meant to be for better braking feel and maybe better brake vectoring (or as Acura calls it, AHA, not to be confused with the Aha internet streaming then they also include with the car), not necessarily a shorter stopping distance.

Damn I was enjoying the review until the end. I am actually happy he re-recorded his thoughts a day after driving it and sleeping on it. He actually talked value, which is most important. Very critical at the end.

I don't believe that 5.7 0-60 lol It would be great if its really that.

Make sure you guys watch the video until the end to get his after conflicting thoughts on the car

I really think its very nice inside.

Truthfully, maybe because of the higher price, its now truly being compared to superior cars/ interiors. Acura shouldn't be trying to compare this car with A6/BMW 5/Benz

" Maybe my expectations weren't realistic " AMEN. Acura is the one who raised our expectations to the roof ha

Yea Topher's video surprised the hell out of me as he wasn't even going that hard in the on/off ramp.

This is basically the 1G TLX tire debacle all over again. How bad were the stock tires? Bad enough that I took them off after just 2000 miles. They're currently sitting in my garage as spares that might be better suited turning into a tire swing.

It's almost like Acura is pushing the enthusiasts towards the Type-S on purpose.

And the sad truth is, the Type-S could be all kinds of mediocrity as well based on Acura's history. It would be unfair to say that Ikeda isn't doing a good job turning the brand around, but there's some kind of baggage that's tied to the brand that they just can't shed.

I can't help but to wonder if some reviewers got a car built on a Tuesday morning, while they got a car built the afternoon after everyone found out the Ohio State football season was being postponed by the Big Ten...

Alex's review really nails it in my opinion. Always seem like an unbiased truthful guy. This car would have been great had it been priced slightly lower. But the fact the decided to bump it up and play with the big boys, yet did not bring their A game (more like a B- game) is disappointing. When you are priced very closely to some of the more established competition, be expected to compared harshly. I am glad that SH-AWD is fun to drive though. That and the audio is something Acura really excels at.

To early to say. I've gone this far down the rabbit-hole, so I might as well as well see it though ... and at least test-drive the deposited TLX.

But let me ask you ... did you watch it? Did I hear all that right or am I getting something wrong ?

I watched it. It's by far the most critical I've ever seen them be towards a car. Jarringly so.

I wonder if they're salty about not being part of the first batch of reviewers? I seem to recall that the Youtubers weren't part of the initial batch.
