When do you think the next gen TL (TLX) will be released?

Yes, lots of 2nd gen IS250's in LA and almost all of them are driven by chicks. The 2IS was a big seller to women based on anecdotal evidence. I always found it to be a feminine looking car. The 3IS is very masculine, imo.
The 3IS by accident or purposely was designed to be an 350 Fsport or nothing. It is not luxury enough to be a luxury car i.e. the interior is quirky and designed to wrap around a driver so the regular 250 and 350 versions are out. Can't imagine anyone buying that car for the luxury aspect. But it all comes together and makes sense as the Fsport. Just enough luxury. Great tech but not too much. The quirky interior fits the driver just right when the driver is focused on -- driving. All the money that you don't see in interior bells and whistles is felt and used when the car is put into Sport mode, etc.
I'd tell anyone -- you want luxury -- get another car but if you really have to get a Lexus IS -- get the 350 Fsport. Hope this post makes sense.

Actually, I now see more GS's and IS's on the road than the ES, that was never the case in the past.

The whole design package exterior and interior screams that it has to be an Fsport to me. It sure doesn't look elegant luxury imo.

What I learned there is that there are 2 types of Lexus owners. The 1st type apparently sits in the car while parked in the driveway, caresses the supposedly superior plastics, opens and closes the ashtrays, turns on the butt coolers, and is not concerned in the least that the car rides/handles like a Hyundai. It's all about the illusion of affluence and luxury for them.
As stated above the 2nd type is all about the driving experience 1st and foremost and it never occurs to them to compare plastics and they are willing to do without some luxury as long as it’s clear the money went into the handling.
The 2IS trolls would go out of their way to ruin the new car experience of the 3IS owners because the Fsport is missing some features from the luxury realm. The problem was this -- everyone is entitled to an opinion bit when the same guys month after month show up on a range of threads to slam the 3IS -- well, it gets tiring.
Since I own a business and am in marketing I thought I could get them to chill by explaining and providing evidence in support of my surmise that Lexus knows exactly what it's doing, that they know the target they're trying to hit, that they know they can't sell an IS for over 50K because they spent years branding it as an entry level (read 45K) car, that they chose to eliminate some features because they made big investments in the chassis, etc.
Businesses today have access to data that blows my mind and I'm in an internet business. They can buy data from companies that track your every move online and can track the magazines you get in the mail, the foods you buy (because you probably use a discount card) -- they are able to create recursive and predictive proofs about what a large majority of a market will buy/not buy, respond/not respond. They know the micro-cent what it costs to build a car. Car manufacturers are really smart people. So, I'd explain why I think Lexus made the decisions it made -- that it's not personal -- its a business and vision decision to include all of the advanced tech they put into the suspension instead of into butt coolers while keeping the car under 50K.

Is this considered overspray or underspray? But hey, car is under 50k. That's all that matters!

Don't bring that here to this forum. How dare you. A number of 3IS owners at Club Lexus have asked you to leave because all you do is spread negativity. Now you're running around over there telling everyone the Q50 is a better car for some reason.
#1488
You're now removing parts from the car to find reasons to slam it? Why would they paint an area that's going to be covered by plastic all of the time? Paint costs money. Car manufacturers have maybe an 8% margin. As a digital business owner I know they can track costs down to the nanocent. Every manufacturer of everything made does this. Aston Martin uses a TomTom navigation system.
#1489
Only because it was better than that tired Volvo system that was severely hampering their technological appeal. AM is for old guys who don't want to admit they are old... an old, clunky tech system will make them seem older.

But isn't using a Tom Tom kind of old and clunky and cost cutting on a 200K car?

Man. I keep checking back here every month or so thinking Acura may release SOMETHING about the TLX. Nada. I am beginning to think my beloved 6 Speed TL-S will be my last Acura. The only new Acura I like the styling on is the departing TSX(too little power) and the new RDX(not a sports sedan).
I'm not sure why I would even get my hopes up with Acura at this point. The days of them offering a 6 speed in their TL/TLX for under 28-32,000 are probably long gone. I don't really ever want to pay much more than that for a new car, I certainly could but don't want to.
I'm sure they will bundle it with all the other shit you don't want/need and you will have to pay like 40,000 plus just to get a six speed manual.

Would someone like to have extra paint in a covered area or not enough paint? Some people are pretty anal about some things. They are just cars.
Also some of the harshest critics of some cars seem to be those who also say "I would never pay that much for any car". Wonder why that is?

I check back often myself. For me, a car is a HUGE investment so I'm very cautious about buying anything. There is a lot of great info from people on this forum although not everyone will agree about everything (obviously). While I may end up going to a 2015 Accord hybrid or a IS350 hybrid (if they make it to the US). I just hope someone manages to snag info on the 2015 TLX soon.
IS300H CVT loses out to 6MT 320d (in US 328d) in fuel economic 60mpg vs 47mpg. these are imperial gallons but you get idea where real fuel economic stands.

new IS in general have gained alot of weight. so it is slow and less efficient. Honda 4 cylinder Hybrid techology is better from Accord. this despite the fact that Honda cars are more safer than Toyota.

I'm hoping (although I know it unlikely) that Acura will have a surprise debut soon.
http://t.autos.msn.com/shows/sema/ac...-custom-cars-1 I'll be honest, I think these custom jobs are uglier than the factory default. I hope Acura doesn't take any styling tips from these. I've seen some very nice as well as some very simple mods on this forum that I'd like Acura to consider.

The colors are washed out in those pics. It's more of a gold color, I think. I kind of like it :

Those RLX's aren't doing it for me. They seem to be trying too hard to turn it into a pimpmobile. lol.

That ILX resembles a Camry with the wrapped shield! I love the stance on both the RLX and ILX though.

They would definitely sell them, it makes me wonder if Acura even has any car enthusiasts working there who understand what their market wants...

I don’t think you can define over paying at all except in a direct comparison to what is purchased. Who overpaid a TL buyer at MSRP for $45K or a Porsche buyer at dealer cost for $120K? My personal drop dead line would be going into principal to buy a depreciating asset.
When I stopped driving the grandkids to school bought the 335is. I have always liked performance cars & will pay more for one than for a 4 door sedan. My youngest daughter has always liked 4X4’s since her teenage Jeep days. She just bought a Porsche Cayenne while my personal top for any SUV is the Expedition EL Limited, big box mover, which MSRP’ around $55K.
The 335is will get replace by a Porsche, M4 or Stingray. Pretty big price spread within the group, about $60K, but what specifically appeals to me at the time I buy will be the determining factor not the price per pound or price per seat.
There are a lot of old sayings around, "There's no status in overpaying, A fool and his money are soon parted, Money can't buy happiness" & so on down the line. Nice pithy homespun logic that I suspect was make up by the well off to keep the masses happy & out of rebellion.
An Aston Martin was mentioned above. I expect that someone picking out the color of his new Vantage is a lot happier overall than a working stiff worrying if his paycheck is going to stretch till next payday.

There's a reason you never see a Hearse with a trailer hitch and a luggage rack.
In my experience; a high standard of living doesn't necessary equate into a high quality of life.

I would cut them some slack till you get bit. Lots of the cammo is padded out with false shape changers & other dead end hints.

Was that the camouflaged 4G TL ? That picture could have been taken 5 years ago.
The reason is that it is well expected that the TLX will be shrank considerably in size compared to the 4G TL, but the one in the pic still looks big in size.
