For some reason, Honda is going for the "stick-on" look. I have the spoiler kit on my accord and it has that same look.

In other words, it's easy to add luxury type features to mainstream cars, it's hard to sell them for the same price as the other 'luxury' brands.
The industry definition used to be fairly clear:

Tier 1 - luxury - The grand marques
Tier 2 - Prestige - Ze Chermans - mostly
Tier 3 - premium - Alfa (don't laugh) Acura, Volvo, other wa(ta)nabes.
Tier 4 - volume - the big volume stuff no-one really aspires to any more.
Tier 5 - value - Skoda, the Koreans, etc.

Conflating the top 3 is therefore very unhelpful.

The problem seems to be the portion that comes up the side of the bumper and around the top of the lower air intake. That just feel wholly unnecessary. If they cut it off right around the height of where the side skirt starts, the whole thing would look a whole lot less tacky.

With any luck at all, RonJon will have a viable solution

I think the piece in order to look proper and not just slapped on it would almost have to be 1 big piece that went along the bottom lip to connect both sides, and went up to the edge of the bumper/fender and followed that body line down and under the grille.

Better yet, just offer the damn bumper already molded like that!

"IF" (and i use that term loosely) i were to buy one, one of the first things i would do would be to plastic weld and smooth the transition of that kit to my bumpers.

It is so stupid that they have a beautiful prototype and yet they have to "design" a horrendous accessory kit like this. Why can't we just have the design from the prototype?

Agree. At least make the bumpers an add on option that those that want that could at least purchase.

yup...accessory body pieces are a little out of style now aren't they? especially if you are trying be portray yourself as an upscale brand.

If you want to have the aggressive look as an option, do it right and NOT something that gets taped over the top of the body.

Sadly Acura hasn't followed the lead of their Japanese competitors. The Q50S has a different bumper as does the Lexus's F-Sport series to show that the car is at least somewhat different.

I disagree, there's tons of add-on lip options for the current/outgoing m3.

The front is ok, I have not seen the rear other than the spoiler on the trunk while the trunk was open in the picture up above. I agree, why not just make the prototype style an option instead of this stuff? However, I do like this look better than base 4 cylinder and I'm not a fan of rims either. Waaay to busy for me. The fewer the spokes/blades the better. Like the proto type rims.

The rear piece can't be as fugly as the one for the 4G MMC.. Those were horrible, especially on the light colored cars.

What's with the insanely huge wheel gap?! The car may as well be a buick. Hopefully they come out with some kind of sport package with a lower suspension that's just ridiculous.

Surely the gap is easy to fix with a set of Teins or H&R springs.

That is my car/color right there.

It seems that most all of the cars these days have that wide gap. I am going to hold judgement until I can walk around one in person

Take it from someone who has seen it in person (and with the 19-inch wheels no less), it is pretty bad. No worse than any Acura in the last decade, but you would think they would be able to get this right by now...

lame.. I'm guessing the stick-on look is just meant to be a cost-savings thing over an entirely separate bumper.

That chop fsttyms1 did makes it so much cleaner.

THIS. The car still looks pretty good, don't get me wrong, but the prototype looked AWESOME at first glance. I just don't see why they had to dumb the edges down.

BMW seems to get ride height right most of the time. This is simply what Acura does. I'm used to it. Don't worry, I'm sure there will be lowering springs for this car in fairly short order.

The GS350 F-Sport has a huge gap as well. I guess 95% of buyers pay no attention to those details

I am happy with the stock ride height on my MB C300. Gap is just about perfect.
