Dude. I have a 3G tl and love it BUT you are overdoseing on the 3G Kool aid if you think it has a better interior than the 4G tl. It's not even close---saying the interior of the 3G tl is better than the 4G is like saying Heather Lockleer is hotter than Denise Richards. Sure Lockleer was hot in her day--and still looks good, but she cant compare with the new model. Ask Richie Sambora.

FYI the 11 TL will be here this September. The mid model change will happen on the 12 model. The 12 will be here in April of 2011.

Love the analogy. Having had both the 3g and 4g, no contest. 4G wins by a significant margin. It's not even a race.

How do you know this is true? That seems really early for Acura to come out with their MMC in the spring.

Says the nameless faceless internet source. Got any facts to back up the statement? The NSX will actually be coming out this fall also with it's v10 powerplant for only $50k, I can't wait to get mine.

+1. Acura would be shooting itself in the foot to come out with a freshened version of a car only a few months after introduction. I'm thinking the 2012 won't be available until Sept-Oct of 2011.

Calm down guys. I'm usually the first one to call BS on this stuff. But I was actually on this conference call with Acura when they told us last week.

So this information came as an unofficial announcement from Acura corporate?

Now if they would just tell you if there will be a type-S for 2012.

Haha I was hoping for that announcement, but no details so far. Just time frame discussion for upcoming product launches.

Acura did this, when they changed the TL for 2002 , which came out in I believe April 2001. The new styling and several new changes and features made the 2002 a much nicer vehicle. I know the 2001 owners were pissed.

Totally plausible. I was actually guessing an unexpected MMC for the '11 release, but an early '12 MMC fits the bill.

It's been a while since i posted on here but IMHO.
I feel the same way about my 4g tl as i did with my 2005 bmw 5 series.
I did not like my 5 series design at first but bought it for other reasons. After a while i ended up loving the design and re-leased a 08 550. I remember when I first got my 05 many critics and magazines said very negative things about the design of the new 5 series pretty much like this new 4G TL. In the end I think the 5 series changed the way cars look and many auto makers copied the design to some degree.

I hope Acura gives the 4g TL a full cycle to see what people think of it. I think people will end up loving the design in a coulple of years and Acura designers would have created the new automobile design trend as bmw did with the 5 series. I am proud Acura has taken this approach to the new TL and am happy I can be a part of the change. IMHO.

I'm sure we have all seen the 2012 thread by now with this link:

http://www.vtec.net/news/news-item?news_item_id=909715

Just a few days ago we received a tip that Acura's mid-cycle refresh (MMC) of the TL was operating on an accelerated timeframe. In fact, the word is that the MMC 2012 TL will be hitting showrooms in April 2011, or nearly a half year ahead of the typical fall date.

No worries! I probably should have said that in my post.

Your TL is my favorite on here by the way. I wish I were brave enough to go black next time.

Fugly trunk

If Acura changed the look of the ugly TL trunk then they would easily improve the TL sales. The front grill is the least of their problems.

Actually I didnt; mind the silve, what always seemed "low rent" to me was the center button cluster and the main controller knob. I think they coudl have done that better, I love the way Hyundai does it on the Genesis, seems so nice and substantial, the new M does the button cluster very tastefully as does Audi, although the Audi mmc switches feel flimsy.

I own both a 3rd gen 07 TL-S and a 09 TL w/tech. I love them both. I personally like the way my 3rd gen drives over the electric steering of the 09. But the interiors, I like our 09 better. Though the instrument cluster is a bit more confusing than mine. I will say the door handle area interior wise, the 09 feels cheaper than my 07 due to the plastic there.

But for looks...the 3rd gen by a small margin.

Thanks I do spend a lot of time keeping it clean, but honestly after spending a weekend buffing with my Flex it stays pretty clean all year. A layer of sealant with wax throughout the summer keeps it nice and shiny.

But this will probably be my last black car - Its my DD I plan on keeping for a very, very long time, but I've got my eye on a weekend/summer car - that will probably be white.

Thanks for the compliments on the garage. It took a while to complete and glad it's done. Was not liking the 95+ degree days doing that. Yep, the Honda gets the shaft usually.

hahaha, lol!! Yeah, when it comes down to luxury cars vs mainstream cars, you've always got to give the luxury ones the baby treatment!!!

^Thanks for info Colin and is the 6AT just for the SH w/HPT package model? Does this mean we see a 6AT (for the SH) for 11' but an MMC for 12'?

hey colin i also commented on your post on TOV.

Are there any additional details at this moment? I'm very curious to see if there are other package levels offered. Acura seems to be really trying to save the TL, going out of its way to push new tech towards and and moving the mmc up.

I'm disappointed that acura didn't just put the 6 speed auto in during the 2010 model year. I feel a bit robbed since acura ALREADY had the technology in MY2010 and had put it in the ZDX and MDX.. but not the TL.
