Where are you getting this from Colin? I've been doing some searching around and have only been able to come up with this on potential 2011 offerings......

I don't see any reason to think the 6-speed will actually arrive on 2011s. This coule be just some slight styling changes before the true MMC like Honda did with the 2005 Accord.

I saw it on the IN, in the MOVE details... maybe a typo?

Hmmm, I doubt it's a typo. I would hope that some one wouldn't screw up how many gears the car will have on the MOVE. Adding the 6AT only to the HPT cars makes about as much sense to me as only having the power lift gate on the MDX available as part of the entertainment package.

I'm using a borrowed password and log on as I recently transferred to a new home. I don't even log on to the IN under my own store right now and I don't have all the access I used to.

At least you're seeing the same thing I am. The only "logic" I can see to this is that the only drivetrain the current 6AT is mated to is an AWD with the 3.7. Maybe it was an easy 'drop in' vs. getting the 3.5 certified for the rest of the lineup?

Agreed the 4th generation is a more luxurious and beautiful interior especially in umber. However the 3rd generation has more soft plastic areas especially in the door panels, the hard plastic has to go.

Are there any additional details at this moment? I'm very curious to see if there are other package levels offered. Acura seems to be really trying to save the TL, going out of its way to push new tech towards and and moving the mmc up.

I'm disappointed that acura didn't just put the 6 speed auto in during the 2010 model year. I feel a bit robbed since acura ALREADY had the technology in MY2010 and had put it in the ZDX and MDX.. but not the TL.
Considering you have the non SH_AWD model,I doubt Acura would put the 6 AT in your vehicle. Most likely it will be available first in SH_AWD model to help performance since MPG will be a minimal gain. Plus why are so many complaining about 1 more speed the 5 AT is so refined that Acura still remains competitive. I understand everyone else has at least 6 speed so it looks bad, but Honda builds their own product, if they went and slapped a ZF transmission in they would be just like everyone else. I think they should have invested on a reliable DSG type transmission, maybe it is coming with the next RL?

Go back and read the texts of the MMC coming "early". The MMC will be for 2012 MY, but appearing in Spring of 2011 in lieu of Fall. The 2011 run of TLs may only be 6 months or less. So, given that, I don't doubt the 2011s will still have only 5ATs and 6MTs.

I had the SHAWD model before, I would have gotten another SHAWD if there was the 6 speed auto since it would be more efficient and faster... but it didn't get it for 2010..

The Base model feels like it has more thrust than my SHAWD and gets 3mpg more than my SHAWD did. It's also lighter so it doesn't feel as heavy going into on/off ramps and such.

It's also quieter, rides better, has more trunk and interior space.. but if the 6 speed auto improved the mid range (like it did for the MDX) then I would have gotten the SHAWD again.

You might of missed what he was saying. He's talking about 2011 model cars that dealers are ordering this week. According to the information he received from Acura, the AWD cars with HPT are listed as having a 6AT. This may have been a typo on their part, we aren't sure. I haven't seen any posts from Colin saying that an actual human being from Acura has confirmed this. The dealers get their information (color restrictions, what % of TL's can be ordered with tech etc) about their next order online at a secret location called the iN.

Agreed! The 4G SH-AWD has the exact same cargo capacity (12.5') and interior volume is only 98.2' in the 4G compared to 97.9' in the 3G so there is no real increase in space

The 4G TL FWD model has 13.1 cu ft trunk space; the SH-AWD model has 12.5 cu ft trunk space due to the rear differentials intruding into the trunk.

After owning both base and SHAWD, and seeing that the base floormats are bigger (no drivetrain hump = slightly more foot/leg room front and back), the rear seat hump is a lot smaller, and that the base doesn't have that space robbing differential hump in the trunk.. i can safely say the base has more room than the SHAWD.

My bad, but regardless, there is actually less space in the AWD version then in the base version, in regards to the trunk that is, but some people will make the sacrifice for AWD!

MOVE came today, it was a typo. Sorry guys. I guess there's a reason they dumped the "Precision Crafted" slogan ... they don't even proof read the bulletins....

It's looking that way. I just checked the color charts and there are no new colors available at this point, however, I couldn't tell if they may have added a color combo that wasn't available before, it didn't look like it.

It looks like the typo on the dealers order sheet combined with TOV breaking the news that the 2012 will arrive in the spring of 2011, combined with the spy shots of a camo'd TL have caused a little wishful thinking on our part. It's looking like we will have a 2011 TL identical to the 2010 but it will only be built for about 6-8 months at which point we can expect the MMC 2012 TL.

More info will be posted when we get it

Thanks. Although i just bought a 2010 Base TL (an SHAWD i bought prior was totaled) I already want another car.

Something about this acura, although it's a competent car, just doesn't make it special or appeal much to me. I hope acura has something big for the MMC or has nice new vehicles coming out or i may deflect to other brands as i'm making more $ now than before and (for my next vehicle) wouldn't mind paying more to get exactly what i want.

Hey guys what do you think about this site, is there any chance the 2011 could be the mid-cycle refresh.

Don't be fooled into thinking this car is a 2011. Look at the rear Picture, it shows the Spoiler on the rear, but also shows the Single Exhaust Port not the dual you find on the SH-AWD. It was my understanding that the spoiler was only standard on the SH-WAD with Tech? As far as we know they could be testing the Navigation system. We will know for sure in a few months!

I haven't checked the factory configuration to confirm or deny it but during a recent test drive my salesman told me that the rear spoiler is also standard on the base/tech. If that is the case then the car could be a 2011. That would be good news for me with an early spring lease termination date on my 08. However, a better bet is that it is a 2012 to be released this Spring as TOV reported.

You are correct as the TECH gives you the Rear Camera and that uses the spoiler. I only looked at SH-AWD with Tech when I was shopping. Some spy pictures do show the License plate on the rear as being higher up, and if that is the case then the back and front do get a slightly different plastic part. This could be good or bad, one will have to wait and see them side by side, then it becomes individual taste. May draw in more 2nd and 3rd gen customers, good for Acura. But if the car all of a sudden becomes REAL POPULAR, say goodbye to the $6k discounts many of us got when we purchased ours...

Indeed!

One of the biggest reasons i bought my TL (Twice) was because of the HUGE INCENTIVES they gave me.

I got between $6800-7000 off both my TLs. (the first one was hit and totaled) $6800 off the base tech, $7000 off the SHAWD tech.

Without incentives, i would have gone straight to lexus, audi, or benz. So lets see how that plays out..

That's the only thing that concerns me about waiting. Given the choice of a 2010 with huge incentives vs 2011-2012 with little incentive I would go for the former regardless of the changes. Hopefully the competition and the economy force Acura to continue to offer the same level of incentives for the forseeable future.

Acura should have 2011 TL around Early September. I think you see what it is like then decide to go for it or a 2010 on a Closeout Special. Should be able to get a good deal on a End of year model. But I think your widow of opportunity is 2 weeks to go with a 2010 or 2011. However the selection of Color and options may be low at the time.I think if they make changes to the front and rear, and the initial reports from people on the WEB and those that rate cars like Edmund's, Motor-trend or others is a WOW factor, then Acura would most likely STOP all incentives and see how sales go with the new looking model. I save $6500 on my SH-AWD Tech in February! Love the Style "As It Is" and if they Tone Down the front and Rear and make it look more Aged and Normal, it could be that the 2009-2010 owners are the real winners... I have always said that my 2005 Honda pilot is a sharper looking SUV compared to the 2006 Model when they changed the front grill and made the rear light clear white transparent, looked Odd..

I have a feeling that all the little changes will make the car look more "normal" This can be a good or bad thing. Good if they actually balanced the way the car looks, bad if they made the car completely bland. I'm hoping it will be more balanced.

Either way, unless there's something significant, (like an advanced package), I will sit it out until they debut the new V6's.

Agreed on the timing and possible scenario. My problem is that my dealership of choice currently considers me upside-down on my lease turn-in and that probably will not change until the lease is closer to expiration. This limits my bargaining leverage with them. I can always try another dealer (and may) but the next closest is 45 minutes further away and I'm 3 hours away from the closest as it is (living on an Island can have its disadvantages). Fortunately my 08 is a beautiful, low mileage vehicle that I wouldn't mind keeping longer if the numbers aren't working in my favor.

Just got the new Style Magazine from Acura, page 52-55 discusses the 2011 Model Lineup. Appears only the TSX and RL is getting a grille redesign.

That makes sense since the TL is getting a MMC in the spring. Did they have any photos in the magazine?

New issue of Car and Driver says the TL is unchanged for 2011 as well so I guess the only questions now are if the 2012 will get an early release or not AND what changes besides a grill revamp will come with it.
