2011 new generation TL

From the spy shots, it appears that they reworked the grill (less polarizing) and rear bumper (less openness). I wouldn't be surprised to see the 6 speed auto and possible a new package as well.

Both, according to TOV. The 2012 release has been pushed up by about 6 months.

My dealer called me back over the weekend and wants to negotiate further on a 2010. We were about $40 a month apart on the 1st go-around. I'm very tempted but I think I'm going to wait for the MMC.

“…this grill designed by pro people which include Psychoanalysis specialist and I am sure by the time the people will like it much more."

The grill never grew on me, I'm still getting the RJ A-bar.

More than likely, but with bumper replacement, and possibly hood replacement. Reasr bumper seems to be interchangeable granted you have the trim piece to fit.

I knew something was up. The Gen 2 can fit 3 large suitcases at 14.3 cubic ft! Gen 4 looks pretty tiny in comparison. Interior for Gen 2 is 96.5 just for comparison.

I haven't seen any posts from Colin saying that an actual human being from Acura has confirmed this. The dealers get their information (color restrictions, what % of TL's can be ordered with tech etc) about their next order online at a secret location called the iN.

I wonder if Acura might make the 6AT available on the SH-AWD only just as they are making it available initially only on the high-end Odyssey (Elite or Elite Touring)?

I'm still voting typo. If there was a change, there most likely would have been a "2011 TL technical data" release on hondanews.com. We have already started to receive 2011 TL's so I think we would have heard some official word at this point.

no no, i'm talking about the actual size (interior and exterior) of the car in reference to the "i like big cars." line of the last poster.

A new TL? Well, I told my wife 10 years or 100k miles before I can consider a new car, so i've got to wait until then.
But I doubt there are any additional features that will be a must have for me to move to a new TL.

A V8, cooled seats, and little lady for that pops out of the center console for those "lonely" drives.... that will make me get a new TL.

Sounds like an SNL skit with Peyton Manning. (Add some hams in the trunk, and let me drive with my pants off)

I've already figured out based on my equity, if we get bought for 50-100mil (Shelby GT500). Over 100mil - Porsche GT3 (booyea! )

I'm waiting for a 2012 MMC with a type-S, if any. If not, I'll trade-in for a 6MT and plan to keep it as long as it works great. The TL fits nicely in my budget and I can't see myself spending 15-25k $CDN more for an S4 or S5. I might in a few years though since my salary is rising quickly each year...

My next car choice seems to be all over the place, and i can honestly justify each one. Here are my next few choices depending on what happens in 2 years:
2012 TL SHAWD MMC - fix the looks, make the suspension less jittery/firm, add cooled seats, 6 spd auto, 0-60 in mid-to-low 5's and i'll forgive acura for the size/utility factor and get it.
FMC RDX - I realized that moving from the civic to the TL, the main item that increased was interior width and rear leg room. Arguable, the TL is less comfortable and I didn't see much increase in room overall. A perfect way to fix that, would simply be to move to an SUV. From what I've read, it handles at least as well as my base, but will definitely have better traction, which is great. It's actually smaller than the TL in terms of length so that's also great. I don't yet need something as large as the MDX.
FMC Lexus IS/GS - I've wanted a lexus GS for YEARS and have wanted an IS since the recent generation came out. However, the GS jumped nearly $10k in price with the most recent generation, effectively putting it out of my range, and the IS has ridiculously unaccomodating rear seating spaces. When i sit in my friensd IS250, I could not move my legs around, they had to be in an awkward position the whole time. Another thing is, the lexus salesman are horrible to deal with. Piss poor customer service everytime i go there. I'm hoping that the FMC for the IS/GS are as significant as the last one, I may finally be able to get into one after all these years.
Coupes (disreguard storage capabilities):
Audi A5/S5 - This has been one of my favorite cars ever since it came out. It's just much more that I'd like to spend, but in order to make myself happy, I could see myself dishing out the extra cash for this. The only problem I see now is that it sells as much as the G37 coupe, so the exclusivity level that my gf got when she got her 08 would be gone. I now regularly see A/S5's everywhere and they aren't as appealing anymore.
MB E350 coupe - an extremely nice coupe that has nearly everything I could want in a car. though I can't see myself paying extra for the E550 coupe, too expensive.
Acura or Lexus coupe - One could only wish
Anyways, whichever car i get next will need to last be 6-8 years. So i'll make sure it's a good one.

What helped the TL outsell the TSX was the price. When the V6 was put in the TSX, you could buy a TL Tech for less in most cases. I've owned 7 Acura's, 4 of them TL's and I've yet had one person comment on the ugly grill, only jaw drops.

I've convinced myself that while I don't hate the styling as much as I did when it first came out, the 4G is probably not for me based upon "wants" alone. If my 3G dies or I have to buy a car "now", it would probably still be the 4G based upon the way they're being discounted and the value that presents. Outside of that, I think the current TL offers everything I pretty much would like in a car, but I would love to see better mileage somehow. I am even currently leaning toward possibly purchasing electric/electric-hybrid cars. Who knows. I hope my current 3G TL continues to be fairly troublefree for the next couple of years so I can see what the 5G re-design may look like.

AS for 2012 MMC AWD I love the current suspension. To me the only changes the car needs is node and tail and maybe some interior tweaks. If you think the TL AWD is jittery you won't like the RDX I find it more bouncy and less compliant. (gf just got a 2010 RDX last month) The AWD TL is far superior to an RDX in ride and comfort. As far as traction goes I woud guess the AWD RDX would have better traction than the base TL, but it is a SUV ride so it rides top heavy, and if you get the FWD RDX it will have less traction as I find the FWD RDX tires break free easily when the turbo comes on strong.
I also wouldn't mind the higher ride mainly so i don't need to slow down to a crawl or go intro driveways sideways anymore. The front tip of the TL has been scratched so many times due to my driveway being steep and at a high angle, and with high side barriers. The TL's long front overhang doesn't help either lol
I'm just fascinated by the RDX because it seems like a pretty efficient use of space. Have you seen the lockable expandable armrest storage? It's cavernous!

^ agree with you guys!!
Both RDX and TSX have a much more firm/jarring ride; current TL (both FWD and AWD) has a much more comfortable suspension then both those vehicles.

FWIW, the RDX ride is VERY different if you're in the front seats vs. the rear. Because the rear seats are right over the rear tires, (and its pretty a short wheelbase) there is a LOT of vertical movement in the back. It is shocking how different it is.

Additionally; Spring & damper rates on the RDX were softened from '08 and on due to driver complaints about the first model year.

Any news about the possible 6AT...
For 2012 I'd like to see the "advance package" CBMS, ACC, and adaptive springs. Something needs to be done to boost power and the 6AT should be here without a doubt. 6MT should stay, and an upgraded HPT with a true A-spec and sport spring package.
