Doesn't look as angled as the RL, maybe the TL will have a nice balance of the two.. curvey but bold and aggressive ?

Don’t know if this has been posted yet, but there’s been a leak of the features in the new TSX. This may be a sign of what’s to come in the 4g TL.
The article is too long to post but you can see it here:

I'm totally understand what do you mean. However, how much do you think those minor feature gona cost? What i mean is not telling Acura to put "everything", but put the at least put the same/smiliar feature with additional options if they want to retained their "Advance" in tech.

So, take a deep breath. Before you post.... remind yourself what the topic of this thread is.

In regards to the new TL possible options, remote start would be a nice thing if they ever offered a "snow package" or something like that. And yeah, we park 'em tight in Chicago because we have to if you're without cover. That 1/2 inch....that's what bumpers are for.

I think its next to impossible to not go a bit off topic. So Ill be a little more lenient on this.
Just keep the discussion about how and what you want and would expect.
Keep in mind that we have members who arent here all day and they dont want to have to sift through pages of blah blah about what the new bimmer looks like

Forcasting results of the 09 TL vs. ours
Guys, curious as to what you all think- I know we are all anticipating the release the 09, from the hp to the style that Acura is going after- all of it. My question is if indeed the TL is not well recieved like the RL, as far as curb appeal..the way the car looks, how will it effect our body style and residual value within the market? No doubt it will have more HP- but I just cant imagine it really being as appealing as our body style- the front of the car to be more exact. Will it help add value to ours, or do you think it really even matters?

I don't think that the new generation TL will look better than this current one. Our body style is a classic that will have that timeless look. I still see Legends on the streets every once in a while and still think, damn, that's a good looking car.
As for our resale value, I think like all Honda products, it will be robust but I don't think it would be necessarily artificially increased if the new one is a clunker like the RL. I have a feeling that it's gonna be along the same lines as the new TSX. It will be decent looking with probably incremental improvement in interior goodies.

I think the 09 TL will be great. Better styling then our car? Probably, just because our car is starting look a little dated due to the fact that it has been out for almost 5 years. (what car doesn't?). Even the most classic cars still have a dated look. I think that they will put out all the stops for this car. The new Acura RL is a total joke. The Lexus ES outclasses that car. The tsx is more of the same..
But BOTTOM LINE is, the 09 TL will be the car that either saves Acura from extinction or the FINAL nail in the head.![2 Cents](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/2cents.gif)

NO TYPE-S for '09
I was @ my dealer the other day and they told me the acura rep had stopped by to discuss the '09s. They told me that there will NOT be a type-s for '09. Please don't lynch me if I'm wrong, but they had NO reason to lie to me b/c i wasn't even buying or looking to buy. In fact after I heard that I went to my other dealer and bought an '08 tl type-s.
I mean, with all the screw ups to the RL and the new TSX (which won't be ShAWD, only a diesel in a year - info from the same source), I don't know what kind of let down the '09 TL might be.

I see conflicting reports on the net about the 09 TSX type S---is it going to have a 260hp turbo engine, manual and AWD or not ?
That would certainly make me look hard at the TSX. With no TL-s I wonder if that means no AWD either.

Im not a fan of the new grille but if the car had a 6 speed manual and SH-AWD I would buy it in a heartbeat. The grille is not THAT bad...its not like its a maxima !
Now THAT is an ugly grille.

The fact that there won't be a TL-S can't be that much of a surprise, can it? Isn't Acura's usual methodology to introduce the TL and let it sell for a few years, then introduce the TL-S a few years later? That's what resides in my memory bank anyway.
As for the AWD vs. FWD my suspicion would be one drivetrain like the rest of their lineup. There's no option in the RL or MDX to do one or the other, so I would expect the same for the TL. Acura has never been a company to give a laundry list of options.
Manual vs. only auto, we'll have to wait and see what they do here too, I sure hope they have a manual, if there isn't it's definitely a dealbreaker for me. But then again, I'm still very happy with my TL-S 6-spd.

I defn. want the USB adapter interface from 09, and those cameras instead of the mirrors is also a great innovation, but I 99% certain that I will continue to enjoy my 08TLS, its a sexy beast of a car, I luv it!

06 Anthracite TL
I was just looking at the pics of the 'Spied 2009 TL' which is the one under the covers. If you look closely, it will have a similar grille to the 09 RL, so I hope Acura doesn't ugly it up too much:

The back of the car resembles a G35 sedan.

IMO For you guys that consider not having an M/T a deal breaker, you're going to have to adjust in the near future. The trend is to provide M/T's on "purist" sports cars, of which the TL is not. I would guess that if the TL becomes SH-AWD, it would take alot of engineering dollars to make an M/T work.
SH-AWD also saps power and gas mileage. I wouldn't want my '07 TL-S to get any less gas mileage or have any less power than what it does already

considering the RL is an accord 4 door with some uglier features, I wouldnt expect the TL to look too pretty. this is by far my favorite style of the TL family.

In regards to there being no Type-S -- of course. There never is straight out of the gate. Same for the M at BMW, F at Lexus, etc. (not that they're in the same league, but I digress). Expect it by year 3-4 or so.
In regards to the new car being absolutely heinous and what it would do with the value of our current TLs, I'd venture very damn little. We'd have an outgoing model. We'd have the smaller engine. We'd have less gadgets. Etc. Etc. Etc. Doesn't matter if it's not that pretty. The TL is a commodity car in this segment, not a "rare" find in the least. Since there's 12.6 kajillion of them on the road, very little will happen to our car's worth after the new model comes out beyond it dropping even further with each mile.

Whether or not the new TL will come in manual remains to be seen. But I don't buy a car for "when I sell it". I buy it for when I own it. While I own it, I want to enjoy it. So I will always buy MT, if that's what I want to drive. And I damn well do!
