2009 Acura TL/CL Type-S-Merged Threads-All 2009 topics will be merged here
We're all holding our breath and wondering what the new Acura will look like and will there be a CL coupe....
Some people have photochopped their speculation such as:
Well, the new generation Honda Accord Coupe was shown last week at the Detroit Auto Show. Often, the Accord will preceed the Acura and give some hints as to what the Acura will look like since they have been sharing the same platform.
Let's hope that something like this comes out with a V8 and SH-AWD:

If Acura releases a model that follows the bodylines of that photoshopped TL then i'll be one of their first consumers. haha.
...and i agree that person should move to California and work at their new design facility.

That photoshopped picture looks pretty sweet. It just kind of looks like a two-door version of a TL, though; it doesn't look like something radically new or anything, at least not to me. I wouldn't think that car would be a "next generation" model, because it's just too similar to the current. Looks more like an option to this generation.

The Accord Coupe isn't the greatest looking car I've seen, but it is a million times better than the current Accord Coupe.
I do like the PS above, but I've always preferred the other one that looks similar to the LF-A (although it was done before the LF-A sketches were released).
Anyway, a new CL would be cool. SH-AWD is a given on any new Acura model . However, I think Acura would be more likely to base it off of the TSX than the TL (unfortunately). Additionally, I doubt it would be a V8 as this is most likely what the RL will receive...that said, a high output six that has the ability to be turboed, similar to a VQ, would be completely reasonable and acceptable.

2008 Acura, 4th Gen?
Hi all, I'm new to the forum and don't know where else to post this but I do know this is the 3rd Gen forum, so please mind my ignorance. I am in the market for a new car and have always been an Acura fan, but I am looking for AWD on a sub $40k luxury car and therefore am interested in the TL. I've been hearing there will be a 'major redesign' for the 2008 version. I've also heard that there will be SH-AWD on it. Anyone know if this is what's going to happen? Also, what other things have any of you hearda bout the 08? Lastly, when does the TL usually come out (so when can I expect to hear about... see... or purchase an 08 TL)?
Thanks!

the 2009 TL will be the 4th gen, the 2008 will be another mid model refresh.

My vote goes to the Accord coupe. The photoshop TL coupe looks looks OK but reminds me of the the second generation Ford Thunderbird after they brought it back from the dead (and hopefully it will stay dead forever this time). Good effort though.

The photo above looks great with exception to the front lower spoiler piece. The way it slopes up towards the wheel well - to match the under-body skirt lines makes the front look like it's drooping.. I think the 07 type S bumper would look just right. It is a damn good chop though.
I for one am anxiously waiting for the 4th gen.

I'm waiting for the 4th Gen, but the 2nd yr. TL-S of the 4th Gen in particular. To me, that year will have all of the kinks out, and perfect the TL-S that came out the year before and everybody passed opinion on!
Timeline should be like this:
2009 - 4th Gen TL
2010 or 2011 - " TL-S w/Sh-AWD or RWD
2011 or 2012 - 2nd (and perfected year) of TL-S!!
Yes, I do see these things bearing fruit! (Hopefully not figs - LOL!)

Not that Motor Trend is the knower of all things, but they have the 2008 TL as being a new redesign, just water under the bridge you think or do you think maybe Acura will change their refresh system on the TL this time around? Furthermore, has Acura come out and said anything official about it? Because that would solve all things.

Except I'd trade in the wife's Accord and give her my RL.

MT is often wrong about these things, as are many other auto mags.

Keep in mind, this just gives hints about the new Acura CL. The 4th gen TL and CL (if there is one) will be as different in appearance as the current TL and Accord sedan.

I like the Accord and I expect the Acura will be even sweeter.
Even the Accord has beautiful lines..... and the rear view is stylistic and original.... unlike the new BMW 330i Coupe....
However, it does look like Chris Bangle had some input on the trunk lid....
Put a turbo 3.5 V6 in there with about 350 HP and AWD and they wouldn't be able to make them fast enough.

Anyways, with the new TL coming out after all those cars are released, they'll know exactly what they'll have to do to compete.

See how the Accord has bigger, rounder headlights? That's a change from the current 06/07 Accord. Similarly, I think the management gurus are going to want to change the lights on the TL to make them look more aggressive. Even if they keep a rectangular shape, I don't think it will look like the 3G headlights. Which is a shame, because I like the 3G ones.
Hopefully the 4G TL doesn't wind up looking like the Advanced Sedan Concept batmobile on their website either. On the other hand, I like that look better than the Chrysler 300 look that's so popular.
