And you think the 2009 TL will be below 30k? Just going with trend I look for the remodled 09 to be around 40k. Your better off going with the TSX

the 250 and 350 are the same in design. its the engine thats whats different. umm im not sure but that f is different from the current IS only in the front bumper. it has more of an audi rieger kit look with a new look in foglights. thats it

haha, i was thinking the same exact thing. does anyone even know if that is the new F for sure thats going to be introduced? lexus puts out a lot of pictures only as concept cars. i hope that is not the way theyre going to reintroduce the IS with that setup of a dual exhaust

miscommunication haha, if i were to wait for the 2010 TL/TSX, I'd save up 6000 and hoping to get 8000 on my 2004 Accord in 2009, using the 14000 as a down payment. It's still a long ways away, I just want to if the next gen TL and TSXs are worth the wait.

Even with SH-AWD, $39-40K for a TL/tech package will leave a bitter taste in many mouths. Of course, invoice at $36-37K will be a little more reasonable. Maybe the 2010 TL at invoice may be something to look forward to.

my cousin and i test drove the new TL-s and we were talkin to the sales man and he said 2009 they were for sure gunna come out wit a TL coupe, with over 300 horses, on a side note, that lex would be hott without the exhaust pipez, it looks really agressive with the redesigned front end IMO im not really feelin the back

The IS-F is a very nice looking car. Unfortunately, it belongs in Off Topic: Car Talk. Feel free to repost there.

I have cleaned up this thread. Let's stay on topic please.

BTW, there are already two threads on the '09 TL:
I'm not sure how this thread is any different from the first one. You'll end up with people making speculations and hopeful wish lists.

The last time we got word of the '07 Type-S through a news leak, but even then, some of the information was questionable.

I've posted in one of those threads but it got lost in all the talk of performance and specs. This is different in that I'd like to know how Acura usually announces new models.

Honda keeps hush hush until the very last moment. Hardly any info ever gets release unless they want to release it.

How the heck are you going to get a IS350 for under $30k? Let me know because I'd like that hook up. I was pricing out the IS350 before I got my TL and a fully loaded 350 was going to be in the upper 40's. I think even without options you'd be looking at upper 30's.

I believe from what he is saying, he only wants to have no more than a 30K finance on his car. He can put down $14K or so. So you've got about $48K there.

Shouldn't the new TSX be coming out at the end of this year? The TSX's 5 year cycle are up.

No one can know how Acura will announce the 2009 TL (which should be out in late 08), and I would imgaine that matters less than what the car will actually be like so you can see if you even like it, right?

If you want to keep it under 30k, you are not in the market for a new TL, or the Lexus IS350. Go to kbb.com (kelly blue book) and look up new car pricing for both, and you will see why. I work for a nonprofit consumer group and negotiate new cars for a living, so I know the low end of what dealers will give one up for, and I'm telling you it's not happening. And no, TLs aren't at 40k. Check kbb.com

You can consider the TSX, or maaaybe the IS250 (if you don't mind going over 30k after all state fees and taxes).

I'm sure the next TL will only be more expensive, but starts in the low 30s now (as does the IS350).

Now, you can always buy a used TL or IS, of course. Present TL body style goes back to 2004, Lexus IS goes back to 2006.

There's also a completely new Accord for 08, supposedly much sportier than the present one (check out the Accord coupe from the Detroit Auto Show last January as an indication)
http://www.leftlanenews.com/2008-hon...-unveiled.html

The next TSX (also the European Honda Accord) might also be a consideration, and more closely sized to a Lexus IS (concept) vs TL (mid-sized)
Here's a possible concept that it might turn into:
http://www.mobilemag.com/content/100/354/C11135/

FYI for those who asked, the present TSX came out in Feburary 03 as an 04 model. TL came out in October 03 as an 04 model, and Lexus IS came out Fall 05 as an 06 model.

Either way, I'd say to hold off and save up as much as you can as long as you can so you have more to use towards your next car (and maybe be able to go over 30k if need be).

09 Acura Lineup

I found this on the net, check out the new TL specs. Don't know how much of this is true or not..

"As a manager for an Acura dealer, I can confirm that ScottM123 is about right on! All the details are not yet confirmed as I think Acura has not completely decided on the complete lineup as of yet.

Here's what I do know: ALL 09' Acura's will have SH-AWD. There will be a TSX type-S with the 2.3L Turbo from the RDX. The TL will get the current 3.5L (from the Type-S) with standard SH-AWD as I said. The new TL-S will get the 3.7L potentially with variable intake and exhaust and should push 320-330hp and limited slip.

It sounds like initially there will not be a six speed manual for this car as their current driveline is already pushed to its limit in the Type-S. The current S's 6-speed has a restrictor in the hydrolic clutch to make the clutch slip with hard shifting to protect the transmission from breaking teeth in the gears. An AWD car with even more horsepower would require an exceptionally beefy driveline for those of us who would abuse the car chasing down S6's & M3's. Very cost prohibitive. Who knows, we may be surprised.

Acura will be offering a small V-8 for both the new larger RL and the MDX.

The Rumor as to a Flagship car (Legend) over the RL is still a rumor. No confirmation has made it my way yet. The dealers are certainly pushing hard for this.

Coupes? It has actually been hinted that there may be a TL (off the new Accord Coupe) and possible a retractable hardtop RL coupe which a prototype has been spotted in Japan with a Honda logo on it.(Type-S with V-8).

And of course the all new NSX...($125k-$130k) Ah, it is an exciting time to be selling Acura's. 2009 will be their best product line EVER! I look forward to many excited customers rushing in to see and drive these great new cars!"

The specs sound good, and should hopefully make the cars more competitive with Infiniti and Lexus.

It will make some of us yearn for the relatively "cheap" TLs on sale now, since the SH-AWD will have to bump prices up by 5K-10K.

But I hope the new TL looks better than the Advanced Sedan Concept they show on the Acura Website. That boxy design looks like one of Detriot's ugliest from the 1980s when the 70s were over and they wanted to do something different.

(In fact, more ugly cars like this from Japan might be the only way to save the domestic auto industry. )

This is great, some good info whether it is speculative or not! Something is better then nothing and it sounds very plausible! But lets remember that the mechanicals of honda's we all LIKE, it is the new styling that SCARES THE CRAP out of us! Take the MDX as an example.....

I really hope they dont screw up the TSX and TL's interior and exterior design!

What's wrong with the MDX? The only thing I don't like is the grille.

Somewhere on edmonds, IIRC

although I spoke to my acura dealer and they were doubtful of the NSX coming out in 09 - that a new sports car may come out in 09, but would not be called the NSX since it's not a mid-engine. But that is the word of another dealer, so who knows for sure?

I really like the idea of ending the RL and bringing back the Legend. Maybe it will actually sell.

My dream:

2009 TL coupe with a turbocharged 3.7L and SH-AWD. Or better still, a turbodiesel!
