Hey Evader, did you make it through the night? As much as I entertain the thought of a new baby in the driveway in '09, I know what would happen if I mentioned it already. My TL-S is only 6 weeks old, so it would go down something like:
ME: "Honey, I'm gonna buy a new TL in 2009"
Wifey:
And I can't afford to have her leave me with these kids!!! So my sales pitch waits a year or two.

Now all that being said, I will still dream about the new TL-S with all the new bells and whistles sexier body (if that's possible) and more HP. But for my own saftey, I wait.

If they bump the prices on the 09 TL's like they did with the all new MDX, then I don't think I'll be able to afford one, since I will be married with kids!

I would love to get another TL, but I think an Accord 6mt with Navi would be my next car when my TL gets older.

Hmm.. I wonder how much gas prices will be at that time with all these cars with 300HP?

why is everybody so happy, if they don't change their drivetrain comfiguration to a rwd platform then have sh-awd as an option it will be crap, they have to create a different drivetrain from their hondas counterpart like Infiniti or Lexus does.If not they will always be behind the competition Lexus, Ifiniti, Bmw,Mercedes etc. What good it will do to have a transverse mounted engine for the sportiness feel of the car. If they continue with the current layouts of fwd/sh-awd the cars will never be consider true sports sedan and they will never drive like a Bmw or Infiniti.

Part of the reason I like mine so much and I'm so happy is that I can drive it all year round. So to paraphrase your text, I would finish the last statement by saying: If they continue with the current layouts of fwd/sh-awd the cars will never be consider true sports sedan and they will never drive like a Bmw or Infiniti in the snow. Which I think is a good thing since I know many BMW/Lexus/Infiniti drivers who won't drive them if it snows. My car has to be able to go in all 4 seasons and be sporty and reliable too. Personally, I'm not looking for a Grand Prix car, but a daily driver that is a lot of fun.

I think this is one of the reasons people lease (besides not having $30K to drop on a new car).

That way, when the lease ends you can say, "I'd love to keep the '07, but it wouild be a lot of money to buy it at the end (and it would be a used car), so maybe I should lease the new 09".

And then after a few minutes of calculation....
Wifey:

Of course, I don't know if anyone does 24-month leases any more, because the payments are higher than the 48-month.

I hope Acura does something good. I have a friend who works for Nissan from what he told me (which wasen't much) the new Maxima in 2009 wil have a striking resemblence (sp?) of the MB CLS and be offered with a V-8. They saw some picture or a concept car or something at this meeting, I don't know he wouldn't tell me. But he did say it looks like nothing Nissan has done before and the WOW factor is in full effect.

I really hope they dont screw up the TSX and TL's interior and exterior design!

I agree, like they did with the Civic and that dig speedo ewww, my guess is you will see alot of the interior cues from the 2008 Honda Accord.

I would imagine that Acura is carefully looking at what the competition is doing now in their lineups. Lexus just refreshed their lineup, Infiniti is finishing their refresh and MB/BMW are always tweaking their lineup every few years...

Some might know that Acura is going global in 2008/2009, so the Honda nameplates for the Accord (TSX), Legends (RL), etc.. will and should vanish. I would imagine the interior will be an upgrade in quality of materials (the current RL is a nice indication) and the exterior should be an evolution of the current TSX, TL lines. Some of the leaked pics show the TSX getting a more round look and aggressive.

Current TL length is 189.3", RL is 193.6". I can see the '09 TL losing a few to maybe 184" to give the RL a little buffer for the sake of sales.

BMW 3 is 178.2" while the BMW 5 is 191.1"...Just a thought.

Buy now or wait for 2009?

Hey first time here and I got a question...
Should I buy a 2007 Type-S right now, wait like a month or so when the 2008 model comes out or wait till late next year for the 2009 model?

Let me know,
Thanks.

You're 20...and I assume like many our age you want the latest and best you can get...that being said if you NEED a new car right now, then go and get a really good deal on an 07 (as the 08s are coming out)...if you can manage to drive your current car for another year, then do it...the next generation TL will probably be worth the wait

Get a Civic Si to hold you off for a year or so then sell it and get the 09 TL.

For what it's worth, I'm considering selling my '06 TL with 16,500 miles with the intent on saving for the '09. I'd hate to see how bad the used prices will drop once the new model year comes out.

i say wait until the 4GTL comes out and if you don't like it, pick up a deeply discounted 08---IMHO of course.

Personally, I wouldn't get the first year of a new model because of all the bugs and fixes that you would be getting, but that is just my . Whatever you get, good luck and enjoy the car.

I bought an '04 fairly early into the third generation and have had zero problems although I have extremely low miles (13k). I suggest that you wait for an '09 fourth generation which is what I plan to do. I'll sell my '04 outright just before they come out and then shop for my best deal on an all new '09.

Get a 2007 at or below invoice. Dont drive the TL-S a tremendous amount of miles and then trade it for a 2009. You will be in a good situation. As long as you can buy the car at or below invoice, you dont feel the effects of depreciation as much. Hell most new car depreciation is profit anyway.

I don't think it's a good idea to wait for newer version TL (2009) because new model car always have some kind of issues. If you want to wait for 2009, i suggest you wait for 2010.

You're joking right? If I was 20 and had a TL-S, I'd be driving it everywhere....

When I was 20 I had a 85 Celica Supra, sports model, with a 5-spd, dark red. Loved that car and drove it everywhere....

KBP paint and a automatic and the trade in should be really high if you keep the miles below 15,000

I wonder how concrete the 09 debut in fall of 09 is? My E90 325 lease is up in jan I am starting to look at cars. 335, Tl-S, GS350 or maybe an RL. I loved my 2003 Tl-S I had, but I also love my BMW. However, the TL is such a better deal $$ wise especially if they are running deals.

I got an '04 and I had to replace the tranny, out of warranty, a couple months ago. The replacement tranny just got stuck in 2nd gear yesterday, but supposedly the dealership can't find anything wrong with it, so I'm stuck doing my long-a$$ commute with a car whose transmission might fail at any minute.

Bottom line: NEVER buy the 1st year of a new design. That's a lesson I learned the hard way.

That would do it. I'm on the other end of the spectrum - I've got nearly 73k miles on mine.

Let me know when you're ready to sell. Seriously, you have an 04 with only 13K? My 07 TL-S has just over 12k and bought it with 3 miles back in March. although the mileage will even out eventually as I'm not driving it 120 miles to work each day anymore... What can i say, I was a little obsessed with driving her when I got her.

Seriously I'll have someone looking for a great conditioned TL around the time the new gen tl's will be coming out and with your mileage this would be a great fit. Obviously it's a little early to plan but you can always keep me in the back of your mind.

lucky

<-- unlucky

Just seems like there's a lot greater chance of getting a lemon, or at least a car with a lot of little flaws, if you buy the 1st year. Personally, I'd take a bunch of little things that would be fixed under warranty, vs a serious tranny problem @ 70k miles. Just my luck.

Out of curiosity, how many miles do you have on your '99?
