and if you look at the fogs, the ones on the camoed shot are angled for the more sportier tl look...and yes the whole body style looks different than the rl...that is our tl under there!!!

How COULDN'T you think it's ugly especially compared to the clean lines of the previous generation (though boring). Those wonky strange lines between the hood and the lights where it doesn't line up and that garrish ginormous block of matte silver hideousness hanging over the edge of the hood with the funky-placed Acura emblem?
*Shudder*
Everything else is sorta okay, with the exception of taking what looks like 2004 Acura TSX rims and making them 18s for the new RL.
Power of dreams? This one's a nightmare.
The only way to improve the front end of the 2009 RL would be to get into a full-frontal car accident and to get the option to select a new front end that ain't fugly.

I just got back from the Baltimore Auto Show. There was no new RL but I did talk to an Acura rep who seemed to know what he was saying. I asked him about the TL and he said that it will stay the same size at the current model. He also said there were no plans to show it at an auto show. They would just show up in showrooms. He also confirmed the AWD platform (I didn't even ask him about this). Anyway take this info as you want, it seems every Acura rep has a different inside scoop.

Bears Rule!(Well, kinda')
Just got back from the Chicago show and I'm stuck finding the right words....the TL generated very little attention, same for the TL-S. The RL, both new and old, were near each other so you can basically compare them 20 feet apart. The old lines were markedly better. I'm also shocked at how much nicer the old rear end was than the new one. I didn't even bother to look at the interiors in regards to compare item for item, but nothing jumped out as a major change. I really do like it's current interior, so at least they didn't f with that.
In regards to the new front grille, it really is just ugly. There's not much you can say than that. In total, the RL doesn't have any flow to it what-so-ever. It's very hard on the eyes when you're trying to follow the lines, per se.
Anywho, to those of you who hoped it would look better in person, I'm sorry I don't have better news.

Here's the first offical picture of the new TSX. The grill looks better on the TSX than the RL. The hood lines and headlights flow better with the grill. Hopefully the TL will be better.

The new TSX actually looks pretty good. Usually a lot of new designs take a while for me to get use to, but I instantly liked it.

And for the grille dilemna, it looks as if all three of the newly designed acuras have the same type of grille. I'm wondering if this grille is detachable from the bumper so someone will be able to make aftermarket grilles and sell them like hot cakes!!

It works better on the TSX because it blends better into the front light housings, and it's not as tall as the RLs....the TSX's also tapers up at the sides, making a huge difference.

It looks nice. It's a subtle evolution from the previous generation. That's what BMW and Audi does well but Honda usually bungles. Accords go through such radical but bland changes that older ones are dated. Both generation of TSX will look good and have a strong resale value. This probably bodes well for the TL. The RL on the other hand is just fugly.

Hmmm...just wondering why they're holding out on revealing the TL?? It would be nice if Acura went with a dual clutch system, i.e. Audi's DSG... Other car manufacturers are adopting this, e.g. new EVO Lancer...(faster than manual!)

ok I am not going to comment on the new tsx since all you guys are saying how nice it looks, aaah fuck that imma be outspoken, comparing it to the current model... WHAT ARE YOU NUTTS, ITS UGLY
the current tsx is like a baby tl, to the untrained eye they think I drive a tsx, what makes you guys think the tl will look better when its usually a relative of the 2 smashed in the middle
sh-awd and 286hp (current type s motor) won't sell that car and rumors are the price tag will jump by 5k, so until someone has a real picture I will just hope that my next car won't have to be a lexus

Judging by the TSX power numbers from the Euro Accord, and those of the RL I have mixed feelings about where we are going to sit for HP, either they are going to scamp out and it's going with 295hp, or 305. I'm becoming more nervous of the powertrain options and not the styling. I also hope they catch up with the tech options.

Yes... also notice that concept is show with drilled rotors with what appears to be a bbk... I wasn't in the acura family when the 04's were released but I'm positive these were not sold on showroom floors with these :o )
I'm anxious to see what the 08 TL has to offer...but...the spy shots make me sick to my stomach.. and even though it's going to have SH AWD it's going to need alot more to keep me in the family. I am considering upgrading to an 08 RL, however, I wouldn't stay in the family much longer anyway because the 09 is hiddeous.. Audi might just have a new customer

I;m not too keen on the looks of the new TSX, it reminds me of the Saturn too much.

So I'm not sure if this has been known for sure cause I've been outta the loop but I just got this email from my local Acura Dealer, I looked through the thread but didnt see anyone provide clear evidence that this will be an option.
So theres a 100% positive answer SH-AWD WILL BE an option in the TL
XXXXX,
As of now the only info that I have on the 2009 TL is that you will be able to get it with the Super Handling All Wheel Drive as an option. There are a few spy photos out there on various automotive magazine sites but most of them have alot of covering on them so you can't see much. We might be going to the New York Car Show in April, not sure yet, and possibly we will see the concept version that usually mirrors the real thing fairly much. Again, don't know for sure. I have quite a few customers that are requesting then same info and I am compiling a list of folks to send info to as soon as I have anything. I will add you to that list if you like. I do think that it will be a few months yet, at best, before we receive anything definite on the TL.
Give me a shout if I can do anything else for you and I appreciate the opportunity to work with you again.
Sincerely,
Mike
