Ditto that. I also went to the Chi Auto Show this w/e. The refreshed RL is much FUGLIER in person. It was like staring at a train wreck.

On the other hand, no photograph does justice to the Audi S5 in person. Love at first sight!

I have to admit though, I drove home extremely contented in my 06 TL

yeah its hard to say if he meant it will be an option and you have to choose it or if its on standard, I mean, every other model its standard so one would only assume it will be on the TL as well.

The Audi A5 and S5 is simply MONSTROUSLY beatiful.
In photos it gives you nothing, live is amazing as the R8...The interior is perfect, the quality of the last Audis models is simply stunning. The new Audi A4 too.
I drove this summer in Italy, in Monza, during the F1 Grand Prix a 3.0 TDI Audi A5...
It is simply fantastic. But for 55.000 euro, sorry, I prefer buying a new TL...

Option IMO is the best way to go. Both TL and TSX in it's current shape and form (w/o AWD) sell several 1000 cars a month. I don't see why Acura should completely do away with the customer group that prefer FWD by standardizing gas-sucking, power-draining, more complex SH-AWD. Personally, I would go for AWD

FWD would limit the HP/engine in these cars as the torque steer would be too great. I wouldnt want to bastardize the engine for a fwd option.

It's simpler for them to have one simple across the board drivetrain...then optimize/advance it so it isnt as gas-sucking/power-draining.

New TSX:

Doesn't look as angled as the RL, maybe the TL will have a nice balance of the two.. curvey but bold and aggressive ?

Do you think the 09 TL will get a similar interior to the Euro Accord / NA TSX?

[repost of pic above but bigger]

I hope that won't be the case...I think the type-S version with bigger more powerful engine will have SH-AWD. From the business standpoint it just doesn't not make sense to get rid of FWD and offer only AWD.

Read the thread title!

I know you're hungry for info and so are we. But, when you clutter up this thread with extraneous posts it makes it hard for others who are checking in every day for updates. Stick to the topic at hand.

I dont give a shit what the mitsu or anything else looks like.

Now you made me stop this car!

You guys have earned a collective Time Out.

I'm freezing this thread for 48 hours.

Many members are checking in once a day or so to look for new info on the 4G TL/CL and have to wade through posts about TSX, RL, Audis, Mitsus, etc.

There's a little wiggle room for comparisons but we're getting way off track in our desperate desire for intelligence on the new TLs.

So, take a deep breath. Before you post.... remind yourself what the topic of this thread is.

I'll see you here Wednesday night.

Whoa, what? High Performance TL?

So I was watching this, and he brings it up after introducing the RL and TSX...anyone know about this? Or is he just talking about the new 4G?......OR he may be an idiot and just talking about the TLS

I think the numbnuts is just referring to the 4G TL. He probably meant to say a new TL with higher performance...

I don't understand what you're confused about. He says a new TL will be coming out. The picture shows the current TL because there's no picture for the new TL.

A new high performance version of the TL is different than new TL. I just thought maybe it was a more fine tuned 3G, but now that I think about it, it's probably just the 4G

Yeah, he's definitely talking about the 4G. These people are usually on point. The thing is they get the info from the same places we do, so he's probably going by the same rumors we are.

I'm coming in right in the middle of this thread. I was going over the Web site for the 2008 Chicago Auto show, and if you Click on either the Acura name in the cars displayed or click on the Debut of the 2009 RL, there IS a statement in that piece where a new high performance TL is mentioned. I have a feeling it will be the long awaited 4G TL.

Going to the Toronto International Auto show this weekend. Will see what Acura puts on display for the run up here, and if there is anything outstanding to report, will post it on the boards

One minor feature I wanted in Acura is "remote start button". I did not find it on the RL that they displace at Chicago Auto Shows. The main reason I think "we" deserve this minor feature is because both "Lexus" and "Infinite" has them even with the cheaper car (i am not sure if G35 couple has it on it's 2008 version or not). Come on, we are going to play like $40 grand for TL and perhaps $50 grand for RL, how come other Japanese upper scale auto maker can afford such minor thing and Acura does not.

The new RL is quite disappointing, I guess they didn't want to put too much into a car that doesn't even sell 10,000 units/yr. It reminds me of 1G Infiniti M.
On the TL side, along with the creature comforts the competitors provide, I would really like to see this car assembled elsewhere. To me it seems that Honda vehicles assembled in the US have a sub-par fit/finish compared to vehicles assembled in Japan.

Well.... you really can't ask a manufacturer to put EVERYTHING available on the market, on every car they sell... The Acura's have a bunch of goodies that other cars dont, but at this point, the technology and "gadgets" is almost getting ridiculous....

While it would be nice I agree!

I have had this feature on several lower priced rental cars.

I never used it. I never had a need for it. It seems kind of gimmicky to me.

I have had it before too and found it to be a novelty. But then again I have a garage to park my car in and I would think most potential RL owners would have a garage as well.

I paid a ton of money to have a remote start put on my car. It is a GREAT thing to have in a car in cold-climate areas (such as Chicago winters)...It also gives a lot more incentive to let the engine warm up properly, rather than impatiently getting in the car and driving before you really should.

However, i think the difference between Acura and the other auto-makers is range. There would be no point for Acura to put a remote-start on its cars becuase by the time you get within range, you might as well just walk the extra 10 feet to start it yourself. A couple of my friends have Lexus IS models and the range is definately 10x that of my stock TL fob.

For push button start I hope the engineers placed it on the shift knob like on my moms CLK, it is so comfortable! even moving from park to drive feels so nice. Other car makes like Infiniti and Lexus puts it on the dash but the Benz placment is so much better!

Hope Acura already thought of this

Push button start can be handy, but also not really a necessity...

Especially in the BMW 3-series cars that DONT have the invisible key... you still have to stick the key in a square slot and THEN push start! lol
