There is an 07 frame/trim/camera on eBay for sale.

Man, all that time that it took you to get that on and now you have to do it again! You think I might have my new 2011 Type-S before you get this one on? Hahahahahaha! (j/k)

PM SteveP66 and Buda for the answer to this if you are looking for the "black chrome" coloring on the trim pieces of the grille only. (vendor rules)

If you are looking to paint the whole grille one color, then PM Midnight_TL, as he is the only one I can think of off the top of my head that has done that mod.

What color are you planning on doing anyway? Good luck and don't forget to come back and post pics!!

LOL! What do you think of that Ethan?

It's funny you say that because I've mused about that from time to time what that mod job is like. At work they always say I should be a supervisor or a union rep because of my "vocal skills"...the ability to argue my point effectively. But the truth of the matter is, I love being the guy that gives the boss shit! LOL! When you are an employee, you can tell the boss what you are not going to do, or argue with them. But the supervisor can't tell the manager/owner that where I work (he can't have balls)! So I said to hell with that!! Hahahahahaha!

Nah, these guys (moderators) do a good job. I love this forum, it's in good hands already. We may have our differences of opinion on how that job could be most effectively done, but I do respect their positions. Besides...I like to give them shit! Keeps them on their toes and awake cuz I keep thinking that is one boring ass job! Hahahahaha!

And who's going to take care of Stella if I'm on this damn computer all day/night? See, she's calling me now! "Coming dear, I just have to grab the bucket..."

Darth, you need to invest in some of this:

Quick detailer spray by Meguiar's. Best $5.99 I've ever spent.

I got an email back from alex today. He said that he is working on a different coloring for Black chroming that gets rid of the blue and brown hues. He is working on it as there is some person that is getting their entire bike black chromed.

NBP Love!

It’s true I love to wash my car,
We get anal then smoke a cigar.

I rub her down over every inch
The rubbing works (in a pinch).

So to Stella I do say
You curb my urge until another day

Hey guys, I've been looking at the Black Chrome and have question for you on the grills. I've got the 07 TL-S and it has a chrome strip in the middle of the left and right side lower "valence" grills. On most of your cars, I believe this is black.

Is there a way to remove those 2 chrome strips and then replace them after having them blacked?

Yeah - they just snap into the grills. We don't have them on the 04-06's but have tried different add-ons to create the look.

I haven't had enough time to try to finish the pieces I did for it. But - if all else fails I'm going to paint that bar ASM.

It just needs something down there for an accent.

Anything other than matching it with your present grille color is not cool Steve! It won't look right. It will be too busy. If you aren't going to match it up, you'd be better off leaving it alone or just black I mean.

I've been thinking about going with a chrome paint, masked carefully, for that bar -- instead of those weak door edge guard trim tape things. I think I may have said that already. I think this might be the best approach, next to getting an actual rigid piece of chrome to attach to it, of course. I also haven't ruled out fabricating something that will be able to fit on there and then having it chromed.

Excellent. If they just snap on and off, then I shold be golden.

I need to carefully look at the all the chrome accents on the TL-S to make sure I know what's there. The bright chrome is OK, but if I Black the emblems, it's gonna have to be changed.

Sounds like I've already got an advantage on the strip above the license plate too.

I don't follow ya - it's all the same color chrome on the TLS.....license plate strip matches the grill trims. Emblems I'm not sure - could be regular chrome

Steve, I could be wrong, but am pretty sure all the chrome on the front grill is regular bright chrome. Same for the emblems (Front A, Back A, ACURA, TL-S); all bright chrome.

Reading this thread, I got the impression that the strip over the back licesne plate was black chrome (or otherwise "smoked"). I have not noticed this previously. I was just thinking this would save me 1 peice to send out.

I'll have a careful look when I get home Friday. Could be the WDP has bright chrome and other colors have dark chrome???

No, across the board, all TLs have the same chrome. The Type-S has different chrome which gives it a deeper coloring when Alex does it. As for the strip on the back, WE colored or painted it. I painted mine NBP. See on this close-up (shut up Brett!! ):
