^^^ ohh no you are not being a dick, just an asshole

I agree with you....no point getting a DSLR if you dont know what you going to do with it....but if you dont have one how do you practice and get around those plateaus???

the only reason I would want 1, is so I can mess around with the manual setting, read up on how to do's and other stuff so i cant take decent pix

Yeah, if you're willing to branch away from the auto settings and start more advanced editing, get the DSLR, but if you're gonna shoot auto 24/7 and use basic editing, you're spending like $400 more than you need to.

Thing is Anil, you'll get one, and be so impressed you'll just leave it in auto. But if you notice, you all love my pics a LOT more now that I got out of that mindset. I know how to trick auto mode into looking how I want, but you can't really be 'artistic' without going manual.

You have to really commit to it.

Get a D40 or canon equivalent. Its what stickers uses, its pretty barebones so it'll force you to use M. But its the same sensor as my camera, same mount, etc. Then you can get some lens swag with the savings.

Used on Amazon is around $300, for an XS.

Canon stopped making the XS, the T3 is now the entry level.

Sorry, just caught this, T3i is the updated T3.

Lol. Isn't there something annoying about cannons where you have to use a button and dial to change aperture?

Not aperture, metering.

Idk if its all Canon's or not.

I wouldn't say its annoying.

AHH. I would not like that, I'm so used to my 2 dials and easy to reach buttons. I grew up on Nikon film cameras so its probably why I love the setup. Weirdly, I love how sturdy and heavy Nikon bodies are as well.

^^^ Me too. I just bought the new Canon T4i. I don't have it right now. Mine was one where the grips had some stuff on it that they're replacing free of charge. Something about white stuff can rub off on your hands.

I'm not saying its a bad thing at all. It's just that people get one camera, and geet gear gear ggear. then suddenly its 10 years later and they are basically locked in.

When I hold canons it feels like I'm holding a toy. I bet when you hold a Nikon you feel like you're holding a brick. Just different sides to the same coin.

I'm in the same boat. I'm constantly taking pictures but usually delete them once they are uploaded and I can check them out more closely.

Nice shots, Sean. Did you tweak the white balance on those? They seem to be on the warm side. Not sure if that was intentional.

I was shooting in the 'shadow' WB mode on the camera to try and simulate a sunset light effect since it was mid afternoon

yeah. I also really need new glasses. I can't seem to get anything in good focus anymore.
