Man, don't really know how I haven't kept watching this thread, but I just realized you are local to me! I'm up in Algonquin, where are you at? We have something else in common too...

He has a sidekick...

One thing I certainly don't have is a camera, or photography skills for that matter. We should get together sometime for a shoot, I would love some nice shots of the TL-S finally.

Oh nice! How old is he?

I'm out west, in the St. Charles area. Would love to get some locals together. Unfortunately though, my TL has been dead for a few months

Yeah, I haven't gotten to that point in your thread yet, but I unfortunately figured out your TL is no longer with us, sorry to hear that.

It would be sweet to get a few local TLs together at some point. I know user name AcuraCake has a nice silver TL in Geneva, but not sure of any others.

Oh yea, and the German Shepards name is Gunter, and he is 4. The pug is Fred, and he just turned 3.

Weird, Holly is 4 herself!

I didn't know AcuraCake is in geneva...I have a local (non forum) buddy with an RBP. We could set something up I'm sure.

ALRIGHT DUDES. That event I talked about. Well here's some pics from it. Some I did mess up a tad...but fuck is it hard to focus when you have NO light.

Messed the focus up on this one. But most of these cats are super close friends.

And this dude... man, he spits hot fire when it comes to rhymes.

AWESOME shots Sean

What are you using for lighting? Stock flash or do you have a speed light?

Speedlight, set at a 30 degree upward angle, and set at the lowest setting of -3 with the diffuser down as well. Any brighter and it would make everyone (who was sweating) look greasy and too much glow off the highlights.

Thanks guys. I was nervous about it. Still prefer natural light shots.

Obviously but there's so much space wasted. Gotta have something to look at besides one strand of grass.

Well the other photo guys can spot it, I promise. But i've been touching them up a little bit. Adding some contrast to get some 'pop' to them. I've also gotten another like 30 likes on my photo page since then, so I'm starting to get more serious. Trying to take less pictures, and make them 'count' more.

oh, and one more.

I know exactly what you mean, that's why I take so little photos. Not much has meaning and I have little interest in the area where I live.

Since I went to NC and shot mountains from sunrise to sunset that's what I've had my heart set on and I can't get to them so it's disappointing when I take pics here.

I'm just going to have to adjust and practice my city/street photo skills.

Yes indeed. You're dealing with what you have though, which is good.

I need to adjust soon so I can start taking more pics. Highly considering going out tonight to take pics.

Oh. And today me and my family decided we would give my Dad a canvas print of Holly for Christmas. He used to have one of his childhood shepherd hanging up in his room when my parents met. So they voted, and chose that photo of her (#1 in that post)

I view it as a challenge. To try and turn something bland into something most people can appreciate. And like you're getting at...when you do that, you have an edge over those who have a perfect canvas to shoot. So you get to those awesome locations, and can put that edge to use!!!

I was gonna say something about better go out and shoot now before winter...but you don't have that lmao. I have to start temp adjusting soon to keep condensation away! That's never much fun.

However, I'm hoping I can find some stuff like this to shoot this winter!

That'd be awesome. Definitely in to see pics like that.

I wish FL got like that. It's not even noticeable in pics when it gets cold. I can still go to the beach and snap a pic, you'd think it was still 90F out.

Like Sean said, I think that having to be creative to find places that are interesting makes you a better photographer overall. Kinda like working with a 3 incher your whole life then one day waking up with an 11 incher. You're gonna DOMINATE and knock em all dead because you'll appreciate what others have seen the whole time and start to lack seeing the beauty in it.

Well, I didn't work today so that was cool. And well, I've been worried since I was a kid I've had a heart problem...well yesterday I had tests run and now that's a non issue. So I feel like a ten year weight lifted off my shoulders.

and this beer is fucking delish
