so hit a little bump in the road. my CEL came on a little bit after the install. came up as p1078 = intake manifold runner high rpm malfunction.
so it seems as if the butterfly valve solenoid from the new 3.7 setup doesn't work right. We swapped the new one for the old one that was on it from factory and the code has went away. I did read one thread about this exact issue as well, so just a heads up for anyone in the future who does this install. Just take off your old solenoid from the 3.2 manifold and put it on.
its something to do with that butterfly valve thats inside the black top plate. its not opening I think. Gonna take apart the solenoid and see whats going on.
BUT prob wont get to that until next spring LOL. Car is off to the body shop for some things then into storage for the winter
^yup got 2 stock ones. both good to go. give ya them both on the cheap

what should I buy for the TL next?? LOL. Have any of you guys looked at the seat covers being offered by Bruce on Endless RPM? I like them. I know for sure I'm getting a roof spoiler for next year.

Are you lowered at all? If not do that ASAP! To me it makes the greatest difference in how the car looks, even more than the aspec kit imo
yea I think thats what ill be doing actually. Ive never owned a lowered car so I'm a bit hesitant on that as the streets around here are disgusting but then again my TL is only a summer car so I can prob get away with going fairly low
H&R Street Performance Coilovers.
If I were to do it all over again, I'd absolutely 1 billion percent go this route, even over the Tein. My S2000, for being pretty low...rides beautifully.
I only don't know the height limitations on the TL application.
i'm actually purchasing the tein street flex on monday to replace my tein super streets. everyone i talked to on other forums say this model is pretty amazing. it's better than the street advance in that it doesn't compress/decompress the spring when you change the ride height, so when i go lower the ride wont get worse (as it does with the super streets, street advance, or any other coilover that doesn't have a fully threaded body). the one j mentioned are fully threaded too so probably similar in performance
If you're referring to a shock that has separate preload (where you move entire body and not the perch the spring sits on)...
I've found that if you're looking for compliance and comfort, you will find it on the coils that DO Not have separate preload.
Sporty...go for the preload, but usually harsh ie f&f, megan...etc.
Comfort...keep it simple adjustment ie Tein, H&R (on the S2000 it is this way, at least).

i'm talking about being able to keep the full shock travel. i've talked to all our vendors and TEIN themselves and they all say this will provide a more comfortable ride because when you don't keep the full shock travel (for example loading/unloading the spring as you change your ride height) you get a harsher ride the lower you are. the tein street flex are "flexible" meaning that no matter how low you go, you don't impact the ride quality at all unlike most traditional coilovers. just because there is adjustability in the preload doesnt mean it's always harsher than non-preload adjusting coilovers...you can adjust it to be stiffer or softer than the non-adjusting ones.
from an email from TEIN:
"We would recommend the STREET FLEX coilover application for more of a comfortable ride quality. Since this coilover application would be full length adjustable, you would be able to adjust the ride height through the lower bracket without putting or removing tension from the spring.
With the STREET ADVANCE application the ride height would be adjusted through the spring which would lessen piston shaft travel making the coilover feel stiffer if set to low or to high."
Heeltoe:
"The Street Advance would definitely be an upgrade over the SS with their newer technology and wider dampening adjustment range. It's great to be able to re-use the OE upper mounts as well, because they basically never die, and do help to isolate the cabin from NVH. However, the length adjustability on the Street Flex is an important feature because you can retain the full stroke of the shock as you are aware, and this not only gives you best performance but best ride as well"
xlr8:
"The Flex provide the advantage of separately adjustable spring preload, ride height, and damping. With the 16 way damping and that separate preload you can really lower the car down without sacrificing too much comfort. Compared to the Advance, the Flex will be a nicer and more adjustable ride."
sorry for the thread jack OP but it's at least some good info for when you shop for coilovers haha
the flex sounds really good actually. and they already come with top hats right? Retaining comfort is def important to me as well. I dont want to be bouncing and rattling around everywhere lol

yea they come with top hats. i was worried about the comfort with their non-oem top hats but below is how some people addressed my concern. i'm not saying the street advance or other coilovers are bad, they are great actually, but to me it's about squeezing every bit of comfort out that i can (for my wife at least...i switch my car to much stiffer through my edfc when she gets out haha)
TL vendor:
"I wouldn't worry too much about the upper mounts on the Street Flex. They use a reinforced rubber upper mount to give the best of both worlds. More rigid than standard rubber bushings, but they retain some insulation qualities and have just a little bit of give to keep the NVH to a minimum. "
I got the car back from the body shop yesterday now everything is matched up nicely. They also fixed the orange peel on the driver front door. Looks good..However, I do have a lot of swirling in the paint it is still pretty fresh though. Im thinking that a good detailer will be able to get everything out with a correction. The paint was too fresh to wax ALL summer so it def took a little beating....Any of you guys have luck with getting swirls out??
Anyways today was the day for the TL to be stored for the winter today and heres some pics
crazy how the lighting in this pic makes it look half gloss and half matte lol

That's awesome you've been up there Steven! It is Beautiful, and right next door to Maine!
Car does Look Great! That's cool that you can store it for the Wintah!
Do you also put a car cover over it? Do you have access to it at any time?
Yes New Brunswick is indeed a nice place, especially in the fall as we have a lot of forestry here!
I do not have a car cover for the TL, I stored it in the same place last year and there was only a little layer of dust on it when I went to pick it up, nothing crazy...And I do not have access to it until april 30th lol but the place is heated and there are some pretty sweet rides in there. Quite a few corvettes in there and some BMW roadsters.
Behind me is a Range Rover, not sure why thats stored for the winter
it was garage kept its whole life but the lady still drove it all year around until 2012, then she pretty much stopped driving it after that and just kind of sat around as she bought a jeep then I bought it in 2014 and have put ALOT of care into car lol.
She was a younger lady, a teacher, she really loved the car and was sad to see it go...I have sent her some pics of the overhaul I've done so far and she said shes very jealous lol

LOL...I know it, just wasn't sure what your undercarriage looked like! If it was already rusty etc...I'd just enjoy that baby year round too...but I can see you wanting to make it last forever!
You've made some killer progress. I also don't know shit about salt and snow other than the fact that my silver S2000 came from up north and sucked absolute ass to work on because every damn bolt was rusty/seized or had been replaced by previous owner.
^^ My undercarraige looks great actually. you'd be pleasantly surprised. Ive had it on a hoist a few times poking around at it seeing if I can find anything...Its also been undercoated every year as well so that helps...Ive also replaced a lot of stuff under there and when I replace a part I also replace ALL the nuts and bolts with new OEM hardware.
More stuff will be getting replaced when I get coilovers. Im going to buy all new rear arms and all the hardware and what not. Camber kits and shiiiit lol
And yea salt and snow up here really can be devastating to a car. Its not worth it for me to drive it in the winter if I dont need to.
Which coils did you settle on finally? I swear, I wish I had researched more and gone with the H&R street performance coils...the S2000 rides like a damn dream...TL on the SS is great too, but the H&R are just really solid and smooth.
Sounds awesome, man...that's right, winter prep where you have it all sprayed down with oil or something similar, no?
I'd definitely not mind poking around your undercarriage, man. You seem really nice.
