Hey ttliang, what was the air temp and humidity when they ran the car on the dyno?? That plays a huge part in the output. Colder air means more power. I live down here in the south, I don't get to see cold temps all the time. I do enjoy the TL in the cold air!!!!! I talked to Mike early last week (2-15-06), I will be ordering a set of these. Very helpful on the phone, now I just have to get the $$$$ together to order them. I will try to get some before and after dyno's from a local shop down here.

Reguardless of the temp or humidity both before and after dynos are taken on the same day and same dyno. they show a 20 hp increase. i dont think that has much to do with it. I think if it was hotter, then the initial dyno would show lower as well . correct me if im wrong!

I dont see where Black_05_TL_6SP was trying to down play someones hard work. Sounded like a ligitimate question to me.

I dont think he was downplaying NItro. He is buying them himself. I just think he wants to make sure he is getting the same gains as everyone else. i can understand that! He prob didnt know the dynos were done on the same day!

dyno results are only for reference for that day. It's kinda stupid to tell people how many "whp" i have on my car. it's all relative. we have to focus on "gain" only within a close enough time window after a mod is done.

it was a pretty cool day here in NJ. but the before and after were done within a few hours. temp & humidity changes weren't noticible.

Like i mentioned, only ONE mod was done that day. all gains I saw should be all Pro-Cats. i was really impressed it gained as much as 18whp "ON TOP!!!" of AEM CAI. it even gained a few more whp as the intake was running hotter and hotter. the ECU was learning to optimize A/F ratio and other stuff.

you can feel the tq/hp on 6mt that's most important thing. you know you used to tap on the gas a bit to backout, now you just let go the clutch slowly. hope this helps.

Ok....stopped by the house for lunch today when the mailman was going to be coming by.....met him at the door. Cats showed up today. Box was in great shape overall and I dont expect any suprises at all (dents, ect) as they appear to be very well packed. I unpacked them enough to give em a basic once over, but havent unwrapped em from the bubble overwraps yet(time issue right now). Here is where I am at right now....all look good from the outset (closer inspection later) with new bolts, ect included and was packed in foam peanuts in box with bubble overwraps and I can see they are clearly labeled as to which one goes where. All looks A-OK from here so far....more later...

I called E-Shift Saturday and looks like I'll have to wait 3 to 4 weeks to order mine! Can't wait though.

Got the Procats installed today. I baselined at 220.3 HP and 196.5 TQ. After the cats i got 237.7 HP and 214.1 TQ. It feeels great throughout and iam definitly satisfied. BTW this is on a 5AT with only a AEM CAI going into the install. I think im gonna get the comptech exhaust to open up the breathing alittle more and i ordered to spacers..for a 100 bucks u cant go wrong.

BTW thanks nitro for getting this done

IMO the Comptech exhaust is not as powerful as the Magnaflow everyone is using.

Just curious....what brings you to that conclusion? Any figures to back up the claim? I would think the comptech unit would be about the same or better than the magnaflow setup?? Not doubting you or arguing with you....just wondering what you are basing this statement on?

It includes the procats and the CAI...my future mods are the spacers, and either the comptech or magnaflow exhaust.....it sucks how much power the 5AT looses compared to the 6MT

Ok, i am being a lazy bum and dont want to read 26 pages of posts.. Can someone sum up whats going on with these headers/Cats? I have a few specific questions also:

1) Whats the cost
2) Are they a simple bolt on? Do they require custom work/parts.
3) Do the throw codes after being installed.
4) Whats the lead time on geting them shipped once ordered.

Thanks.

J.

The first words were- "IMO". No one with Comptech has yet to talk about power gains-only the sound is not loud enough. I know can spin my tires at 1/2 throttle and into the 2nd gear shift ( and yes I have an AT). That was before my AEM. Again this is my OPINION only. Not hating anyone. Going to find a dyno around me to see where I'm at. Wish I could afford the S/C, but with a wife, ex-wife and kids, it's highly improbable.

Glad to stimulate our minds.

Sweet! Just wondering if anyone was planning on doing a full review on these? I'd like to know a few things about em, noise increase, etc. I just bought a spare y-pipe, and I was planning on getting a custom set done w/o cats and a highflow y-pipe altogther.

That is correct. All the Naturally Aspirated TLs seem to be running fine with no CEL.

However, I'm waiting to hear a review from a Forced Induction TL before I grab my set. I am wondering how the Comptech Advanced Control Module will compensate for the extra airflow.

You lost 15% of power through your drivetrain. I really don't get what there is to complain about. That is perfectly normal for any car. The only real difference between the two is gearing.

My baseline was with an intake, exhaust, pulley and I baselined 244. I think that is what he was showing you!
