So I got bored today and stripped my car, then went on a little test drive and OMG it feels amazing. Can't wait to go on a longer drive to c how it really feels, now all I need is rims and racing seats and I'll be set. Thanks inaccurate for helpful links and info on everything.

Pretty much everything but my front speaker, radio, front door panels and ebrake. Everything else is gone panels carpet etc. I plan on deleting the ebrake next weekend when I install my coils (if I get them in the mail by then). My car sits so much higher in the rear, and my front sits a little higher. When I delete my ac I'm sure it'll jump my front up.

Oh, I remember...........

-------- The TL Diet: Woo Hoo, What a Ride !!! --------

I recommend driving it in rush hour traffic. This will allow the Diet to prove itself even more !

Thanks for taking the plunge and giving us your feedback. I do appreciate the confirmation of the Diet's potential.

Wow, so tempting, if the TL is ever my 2nd car, rather than my daily and the car I'll probably tow my future babies to daycare in...I'll do the same. I noticed a difference just removing the sub box and amps for a bit...but I missed my music.

Innac...I bet you wish you could go back in time and feel the difference of driving your car stock, snapping your fingers and having it where it stands now. It would be so much more rewarding than the 20 pounds at a time you're at now.

but i just enjoy driving this car so much I'd be very sad if I had to leave my infants at the grocery store because I was annoyed with how much weight their baby seats and their little 15 pound bodies were adding to my car and ruining my driving experience.

That'll be the day, when inaccurate adds to his list
-135 lbs removed wife via divorce
-72 lbs removed children via divorce
-.001 lb removed cash from wallet to pay for alimony and child support...

So, after five years, people are just now figuring out what I have been talking about all of these years.....

But, at least finally the Diet is catching on. It is great seeing others extol the virtues of the Diet.

I bet that you are kicking yourself for not enjoying it sooner.

My car is so radical at this stage, especially with the coilovers set to full stiff, that I REALLY have to be careful when I drive any other car. When driving another car, I forget that it is not capable of stuff that my car can easily and effortlessly do. So, I can accidentally overdrive (ask too much from) another car if I am not careful to constantly remind myself that this ain't my car. When driving another car, I must remember things like not to yank on the steering to effortlessly change lanes, not to toss it into a corner without slowing down, not to wait to the last second to apply brakes.

Seriously, it can get scary and dangerous when switching cars too quickly. Many times, I get home after driving my car and then within minutes, I am driving the wife's 2003 Acura RL so that we can go out to eat. The stark difference in performance becomes apparent after I unconscientiously try driving her car like I would drive mine. "Oh shit...." pucker time and remind myself "you ain't in your car anymore!"

Do you get as many people looking at you like you are crazy and laughing at you like I do with gutted interior?

And everyone asks the same question " Did you do that to make the car faster?" followed by the you are crazy look. Don't think I ever get anything but negative comments.

^^^ Tim, i agree with Jer....go to the dealership and take a test drive of a 06 Base TL 5AT....i bet you will chuckle the entire drive....

@Jer....buddy its about removing unwanted/unused weight....Tim is a pioneer and he has done a lot and sacrificed a lot.....if you are not willing to sacrifice as much, you can just empty out the trunk, run racing seats upfront, braille battery, front and rear bumper....i mean just little things will easily save you ~200-250 lbs and you wont even notice that you lost all that weight.....

Once the oem airbag is removed from it, the oem steering wheel seems to be fairly lightweight. I have never taken the wheel off, but just looking at it in a naked state and turning it, it does seem light. I would further venture to say that once a person adds that adapter hub required by the aftermarket wheel, the aftermarket wheel would *not* be any lighter than the oem (with airbag removed).

^^^ you just saved me some $$$ baby !!!

if the weight difference is like 10-12lbs, i would go aftermarket but if its barely 2-3 lbs, i would rather stay stock....

am thinking of removing all the volume/cruise control/air bag off it and put the wheel back on....

The OEM steering wheel w/o air bag is very light. I would say no more than 3-4 lbs, if that... I took mine off not too long ago to replace it with an a-spec one. Come to think of it, I should have weighed both of them, shame on me.

Duly noted, sir...I'm sure there are a lot of things I could remove, I have a fear of getting stranded with no spare or jack or anything. I guess if I ever get serious with weight loss, I'd probably start by removing the 100 lbs worth of sound system I got going on and the heavier than oem 19" wheels...

When I removed it for doing some modification I noticed the difference in just that...so I can only imagine. But the bare bones looks will probably not ever be for me. I wouldn't mind doing a weight reduction on a dedicated, "fun" car though.

Again Inaccurate who is a true pioneer has taken the weight loss to a whole new level and he sacrifices on many counts.....when i look at my thread, i am more like ohh i dont wanna get rid of my stock sounds system....whereas this morning while driving to work i turned the radio off coz it was "annoying" as it was not letting me hear my exhaust.....this kinda indicated how "addicting" this weight loss can be.....

I only wanted to lose around 300lbs but am pretty close to (will be) around 450-500lbs lost by the next few weeks....but I will not have sacrificed anything....i will still have my sound system, sun roof (love to tilted it open), air bags, etc....

my 2 cents to you is, if you dont feel it is for you, dont do it....its not worth kicking yourself in the head everytime you sit in your car....on the other hand, if you feel you can go for it, DO IT....you wont regret it !!!

damn...

well here i am guys 9 months into the first day i purchased this car and learned stick on this car.. for people who don't know.

2004 base nbp manual tl. rv6 v3 pcds/rv6 jpipe/ custom exhaust/p2r throttle body spacer/fujita cai

after speaking with SWOOSH and reading all the threads about the DIET. i have decided to do it. after talking to my wife about it all the no don't mess up the car! don't remove the seats don't remove the trunk. i got confirmation ! the last time i drove someone in the back seats were 4 months ago. her first question is why do this to a luxury car. my response its a luxury SPORTS SEDAN <--- LOL and i told her from the get go im going to be driving this car until it dies. i want to enjoy this car

so starting this Sunday. i will be removing all trunk components. all rear seats speakers door panels.trim panels.rear trunk lid all trunk liners. so it wont be as hard core as innacurate but i will remove WHATEVER i can that doesn't effect the front seats. so will be reading over and over innacurates thread

if i find out how to post pics on here i will definitely do it.

When I removed it for doing some modification I noticed the difference in just that...so I can only imagine. But the bare bones looks will probably not ever be for me. I wouldn't mind doing a weight reduction on a dedicated, "fun" car though.
i just removed around probably 80-95 pounds in my sound system saturday. sold it to my friend. 35lb amp and i would probably say the sub was roughly 45-50 lbs with the box. going to be removing the rear speakers.and utilizing the stock sub woofer space and maybe get a small jl/kicker sub

Rooster likes going by a different name...if you know what I mean.

LOL...nicely done, sir...sounds like I'd lose about the same weight if I got rid of my sound system, but honestly, I THOROUGHLY enjoy mine on almost a daily basis...I'd lose 100 that I added to the car, plus an addition 10 pounds for the heavier wheels (2.5 lbs each over the aspecs). Maybe down the line I'll give this a go...but I doubt it...I'm driving like an old lady since my ticket...and have been getting 26 mpg lately...

so thought I would share this, not sure if some of you guys already looked into it

it was based off of mindless thought and this site

http://www.hotrod.com/techarticles/l...ndows_install/

I actually looked around locally and also online but the one place that use to do it is now closed/owned (Percy) by new ownership.. they might pick it up again, who knows

the other one is in the article, Pro Glass, and when I reached out to them they said they can make any window but just need originals to work from... I havent followed up on it yet.. still hoping for someplace local.. or within a couple of hours

but thought I would share for the folks who havent known about this
