Back to the OP; look for the aerodynamic mods thread to try and get some ideas. Decreasing your drag may help marginally improve highway gas mileage, but there aren't many ways to do that without spending some cash. I would suggest lowering your car on aftermarket springs if you aren't concerned with performance.

You could also try some free weight reduction to improve city mileage, but again it will only reap marginal increases to your fuel efficiency.

IMO the TL already gets good mileage. I have a 6 speed type-s and i'm getting 27mpg average tank after tank

 

For other readers,

I back-up this statement that weight reduction will "only reap marginal increases to your fuel efficiency". This is true.

Many times people ask me how much my gas mileage has improved from my car being 800-1000 Lbs lighter. The sad answer is nowhere near what a person would expect for that amount of weight reduction. I have great mileage compared to others on the forum, but it has not improved by a crazy amount. And as mentioned by lumyeinjun above, I feel the biggest improvement would be City versus Highway mileage.

I only drive in rush hour traffic. So, I have areas of crawling stop-and-go. If I had to guess, I would call it "50% Hwy/50% City". I get 28-29 MPG on cold days and 30 MPG in the summer.

One interesting thing that I have noticed is that my mileage does not vary at all based on how hard I drive. I drive like grandma some days and others days like a crazy person racing everything that gets in my way. The mileage seems to always be the same. And, I check my gas mileage daily.

Honda Motor's are already tuned for efficiency and performance which might explain why there are no cheap chips on the market.

As others pointed out the TL's gas mileage is heavily determined by average speed. With my work commute I get 19 miles per gallon, but my average speed is only 26 mph. Highway mileage is great- cruise at 75 and you get 32 miles per gallon.

Keep Mobile One in it, keep the tire pressure up, and drive like there's an egg under the gas pedal. Use the highway whenever you can. Also consider a J-pipe to reduce exhaust restriction. Thats about it.....I'm getting 27-31 that way in mixed driving.

Btw there is a few diff tunes for a VW. N/A. VR6, nice gains especially on the R32

I guess I'll just stick with the mild exhaust option and intake
