does anyone have a DIY for this ??? I know its a fairly simple mod, but some install pix do help !!!
I just went through 14 pages in this thread and wanted to confirm couple things:
1> the hood clearance is like 1.75" ???
2> the IM with 2 spacers are like 2" ???
3> the IM with 1 spacers are like 1.8" ???
4> the IM is 1.6" ???
The reason I ask this is because I dont really want to cut my hood (not too good with cutting tools
.....damn good with drilling tools
).....and since I dont wanna cut the hood, dont feel like taking the heat/sound/noise/fire insulator off LOL

Is everyone else having as much fun with this mod as I am?! It has really changed the characteristics of my car. To be honor, I have to replace my front cv axles a couple of weeks after install. Not likely this is why the axles fail, but I'm sure they put them over the top.
Anyway I would not be surprise if I gained over 15 tq! Downshifts into 3rd gear at around 60 mph is crazy! Feels like the front end is trying to pull away from the rest of the car. I'm lovin it!!!!
Just thought I share.

It could have been from a combination of things: accelerating in turns, hitting big bumps/potholes, extra torque..... I'm getting them replaced today, so we'll see how it goes.
Does that sound like what you're experiencing?

Hate to keep dissin' the road in Va Beach but, I feel like I'm leaving parts behind every drive on these roads!
If it is your CV's, car will be very happy. Have them repack/replace the bearings while they're in there. Don't know how many miles but if your car makes standard worn in car noise at slow rolls, this cures that and helps it roll smoother.

I can feel grinding/metal rubbing through the floor during hard acceleration. Also when making left or right turns at an intersection. I took it to the dealers and the tech mention that I had a slight bent in my right cv axles. Got a second opinion from another shop. They agreed that it could be my axles.

Well, at this point here are my symptoms:
-When coming to stops at low speeds, I hear a slight rubbing from the driver side wheel well. It almost sounds like it could be the brakes but it is not. It is very faint the tone seems to be tied to "nose-dip". The more the car's nose is dipped during low speed braking, the louder it is. I can produce at will at the low speed rolls.
-Only when turning the wheel between 1/2 way of its right most position to it's max, I hear a very slight grinding and feel an accompanying shudder through the floor board. It doesn't occur when turning at speeds over 2-3mph.
-Yesterday, after this has been going on for about a week, I backed over a street curb with my wheels straight and there was as large POP. I continued driving and heard nothing more abnormal in my everyday drive.
Do you think it could be my upper control arm (it bushings) or the accompanying Ingall's camber kit ball joint?

I just dropped the car off, but I made sure that everything will be checked. The shop I use is good about calling if they see any other issues.

In my case after a second opinion between two different Honda/Acura shops, replacing the cv axles is the answer. Have you taken it to a shop yet? Try to find one that doesn't charge for diagnostic. I will let you know later if my car is fixed.

Ok, i just installed my rv-6 stb today and since doing im hearing this squeaky noise and its the rubber hose rubbing the stb(circled in yellow) surely others have run into this issue after doing this IM spacer? it was ten times worse with the factory stb. someone suggested to me getting a 90* elbow to resolve this... anyone know what the specs are of the hose? the inner and outer diameters?
p.s..... PLEASE disregard the snapped off cover bolt... i listened to some idiot(u know who u r
that told me torque on cover was 16lbs and of course it snapped the hell off. after checking myself the cover is in fact 8.7lbs! thats what i get for being too lazy to go check the tq specs myself!!

Yea I wouldn't put a washer under the strutbar, I'd just get the 90degree hose... to get the right size cut a little off the hose then headover to autozone... Should be able to get the correct size no biggie

That's classic. You've established this is just for sound even though I've read the literature that states it's for fire control. You need to call Acura corprate immediately and tell them the engineers are wrong.

without realizing when the engine sets on fire, it doesnt burn like a butane torch....this insulator falls on the engine giving enough time to get ur and ur families ass out of the car before the engine starts shooting pistons out !!!
people with kids in the rear child seat need that extra minute !!!
or if its a minor fire then shut if off....a butane torch just shoots flames out and does not burn like fire....if someone would have done this test but setting off a small to medium bonfire and throwing this insulator on top of it, then it would make a lot more sense !!!

I'm pretty confident that my engine is safe from catching fire. It stays pretty cool compared to the turbo engine in my old car. It's pretty refreshing.
Did not mean to piss anyone off.

when i read this i knew what they are getting into.....they took the insulator and lit it with a butane torch to see if it burns or not !!! ![Tomato](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/tomato.gif)

Okay, I ended up taking the engine cover off (despite the hard work I put into making it work). It rubbed ever so slightly.
I also spent $20 (can you believe it) on making the brake booster line avoid the strut bar. $12 of the $20 was due to a rubber hose that was bent and the rest was for a brass fitting (only could find 3/8" T) and a rubber PVC valve cover. I already had 3 SS mini clamps. All is good.

Ok. I stand corrected then. However I did notice sound difference when I took the insulator off. That's just me. I'm very sensitive to any difference in my cars behavior.

This was what I was referring to. But when you put is that way, it makes sense. I'm still not worried about engine fires.
