Do you know what a 3 angle valve job is or how porting the heads might cause more harm that good? Has anyone ever done tested the heads to verify they're actually a legit restriction or is everyone going off the wrong assumption that OEM does flow well? Is there a thread on the details for the 3.7 camshafts versus the base 3.2s?

I think I said somewhere earlier in the post... someone ported the heads on a J32A2 (CL Type S) and lost power on a dyno... I mean it COULD have been a bad porting job, but I followed the guys modifications and testing and I highly doubt it was a bad job. The shop was pretty legit confirmed by other members. My opinion is that Honda heads flow just fine and no reason to touch them. Heck, guys laid down 400+whp on turbo applications without touching the motor.

I ordered all the parts from Delray Acura, and this is the Email I just got:

17108-RDJ-A00 IS ON BACKORDER UNTIL 9-3-2009

Anyone else have them in stock?

I'm waiting to hear from HondaAcuraWorld. I called my local Chicagoland dealers and no one has it. Heck, I even fiddled with "popping" my hood and after several variations, I carefully cut the underside of the hood. I popped it also with 2 washers on each screw, and decided to do a better job on the hood. Now, the hood has no washers - back to stock and there is a nice cut out/clearance and painted section to retain the clean look as another member on here gave me the idea. Damn, itching to do this mod, just waiting now for the actual spacer.

Stock TL heads are awesome. I was very surprised when I saw the flow numbers. These things flow close to 340CFM on the intake side. That was pure race engine flow 10 years ago. That's why I predicted they would make over 500whp with less than 15psi and it happened.

I think the term "3 angle valve job" gets thrown around too much. Some come from the factory with 3 or 5 angles on the valve.

Forgot, no one takes their TL to the track, we don't want numbers, we want feelings lol.

IMO cutting the hood for a couple hp is retarded. The TL responds poorly to small mods. Go turbo or go home.

you guys r incredibly lame. Who the heck explicitly sees the underside of a hood and CARES to look for a minor cut? good god! Responds poorly my ass! 10ft lbs is better than nothin bud....and who said a turbo wasn't in the future for people who do this mod? I was #3 on the turbo waiting list till it got taken down by mods. Do what you prefer, end of story. Whats the point in criticizing? ...The idiocity these days.

Idiocity is cutting your car for a worthless mod. The TL responds poorly compared to pretty much every other car out there. Take a step out of your little world and look at what other cars do for the money and time invested.

the honda engineers did a very good job at getting power out of the TL in a cost effective, yet efficient manner. I don't understand why people are cutting their hoods or popping their hoods when they can easily get it milled down by any machining shop for around 20 dollars, hell take a belt sander to it if you wanted!

Exactly. The fact that it doens't respond well to aftermarket parts shows how well the stock parts are engineered. It also explains why the turbo kit produces so much power with so little boost.

The TL is a nice luxury car, these types of mods are something you would do to a 90s Mustang when you're in highschool, not a TL as an adult.

There's a middle ground, I suppose. I keep my car very clean and luxurious inside but after 2 years driving around with just a CAI well, it got dull.
You know how it goes, slap one part on here and one there, results make you smile. I feel so in tune with her now and was pretty impressed with the response this mod netted.
The pop wasn't a keeper for me. Don't hate it, it was just a little to cut and paste with the washers, flimsy feeling. I'm going to shave a little off the spacer, adjust the latch and disco.

I believe any little bit counts AND would like to remain clean/stealth.

The "cut" done on my car based upon Gerzand's original post. IMO - it doesn't look too bad. I'll get some OEM color paint and spray it when I can.

"Troll feeding grounds" - never heard of that terminology before.

I'm tired of people slamming or giving their opinion on how this mod is negative to do when torque is added to the car by doing it.

Things have gotten' out of hand!

I'll shutup now.

Normally, I enjoy your posts. That being said, right now, you are the troll.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet-Troll

In Internet slang, a troll is someone who posts controversial, inflammatory, irrelevant, or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum or chat room, with the primary intent of provoking other users into an emotional response[1] or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.
Now, back on topic!

If you guyz don't want to show the cut under the hood...you can order the "hood heat shield" that comes with the 07-08 TL-S....It will hide whatever cuts that has been made as far as hood goes.

This mod is not for everyone....

So to all those who took the plunge....Congrats

& those who are just on here to judge other what others do with their OWN rides...just chill...if its something you wouldn't do, fine....but stop judging others because they did.

Disagreeing with someone does not make me a troll. The negatives don't outweigh the positives on this one. You're cutting into the main spine of the hood. You think that's not going to show up as fatigue in the sheetmetal in the years to come? As someone who's cut on hoods before, I can tell you it will.

Go ahead and do ricer mods you your TL, I could care less but don't question my integrity because you have a different opinion.

First paragraph was nice. Second paragraph was troll worthy.

It seems like your word choice is to incite a negative response from others. This is the definition of trolling.

Just saying ...

Quit being a girl and get over it. Whether you like it or not, cutting your hood for <10lbs of torque is dumb. Why sugar coat it.

K after Alex's reasoning of the cut not being visible... You're right... But still after you remove that rug you need to get some of the self adhesive gold foil... The hood will fade overtime from the underhood temps....

Gold foil underneath wuld render that cut invisible

Good point on the paint.

I'm still telling you guys that you're going to eventually see cracking in the paint from losing the rigidity of that spine. That rug is also a fire retardant, why would you remove it?

Hahaha, some of the 3G guys really crack me up. It's funny how people just talk out of their ass in order to make themselves sound like they know everything... those beams are not for support... their designed to crumple the hood on impacts, hence the indentations. Ever seen a front end collision? Think about it. I will lay down a $20 bet that if people come back to this thread in 2-3 years and ask the original posters if their paint cracked, they will say no. Also don't let people fool you, that mat is not for heat to protect your paint, it's in case your engine goes on fire, the mat falls on top of your motor to prevent spreading the fire. Your paint will be fine people.
