It's alot of factors that I could have kept the spacer in, but it was more annoying than anything. Some might think they wish they had my problem, so I'm sharing the wealth.

RV6 - please consider offering a milled-down IM spacer. Milled down to fit with no hood modifications required.
You could also offer a version of it with pre-fitted direct-port NOS Foggers (6 foggers) already installed in the spacer and plumbed with the metal tubing.![Ponder](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/ponder.gif)

I actually picked up 2 of these a few months back. One for my car and one for a friend. I know a place that would do the milling but I haven't had time to stop by yet. I will try to work out some type of group deal and get back to you guys. How is the back order on these? I had to wait a few weeks to get mine.

My spacer is at the machine shop now, I am having them take half an inch off of it. I prefer not to cut my hood, but I do plan on raising it up a tad with washers to make up for the difference. Now I shouldn't have to worry about stretching any wires or the brake hose vibrating on the strut bar. I also do plan on using the p2r gasket and oem gasket. I will let you guys know the difference I feel in tq after I get it on, will probably be around the 2nd or so.

Exactly, I won't cut my hood because it devalues the vehicle, I won't buy another hood. Some people do and that's fine. I just cant justify the expense vs. the price tag.

Ok first off the section is about 8 inches and how would you be able to see it if you put the black cloth fire safety thing back on here. Who checks under that?
I have had the popped hood look..it was cool for about a week
Then I just cut a 8 inch portion out removed the washers and then that was it.
CSCHELL...how much are you being charged to take off 1 inch and what is the turn around time?
Its not life or death fellas and really how much does this decrease the value....if they can see it

They are taking off 1/2 of an inch. They quoted me $85, which to me is steep. I probably could have looked around and found a shop that would be cheaper but i want to get this mod done before i have to go back up to school on the 3rd or 4th. I brought it to them on the 18th or 19th and they said it wont be ready until after the first, but assured me I would have it before the 3rd.

FIXED
Nothing against CSCHELL but from post 1 this was and "inexpensive" mod and yes there are slight drawbacks but for the TQ ratings of a full MDX spacer i wouldn't wanna spend more and not know what gains I would be making.

I'll be sure to let you guys know when i get it in back and installed. I did just replace my primary cats with gutted ones a week ago; so not sure how much if any that will interfere with judging the increase in TQ but I would assume my gutted primaries would have reached their full potential by then.
#745
hey guys, the spacer was done early. Just finished installing a little while ago. The car drives and accelerates like it is lighter. I ended up raising the the hood latch all the way up and putting 2 millimeters of washers under the hood. I did not have to take off the insulating mat under the hood and I was also able to leave that plastic engine cover on but is only connected through the two pegs on the back side of it. After milling 1/2 of an inch off of the spacer the brake booster or rubber hose is no longer an issue and I have the stock strut bar. I am also using 1 p2r and 2 oem gaskets.
#746
I'm thinking of trying a different length on my TL. Instead of 7 mm, I want to try ~10 mm. I have the stock strut bar and want the extra clearance for the rubber hoses. I'll probably cut the hood braces but keep the liner for the stealth look.
Anyone know where I can get shorter bolts and studs? I already have the stock bolts but after milling, I don't think they will fit.

^^^ why wud u mill down the spacer more if 7mm shaved spacer fits !!! ??? the brake booster line clears stock struct bar as well....
#748
Does it clear the stock strut bar with 7mm shaved? Black_05_TL_6SP shaved 7 mm but had Richies strut bar. I just want an easy install.
I still need to buy the shorter bolts and studs. I'll try ace hardware tomorrow.

All these millimeters.
What are you a drag racer trying to get every tenth off of your quarter mile? Just shave it to fit and That's It!

It might not fit, that's the problem! I don't want to hassle with moving rubber hoses around the strut bar and worrying about rubbing when the engine bounces.
In my book, this mod is only worth doing since it is pretty cheap. From the way it sounds, it provides a similar gain as the crank pulley, which I doubt even improves quarter mile times or whatever by 0.1 seconds.

Local Honda dealer doesn't have bolts in stock
Bumping an older thread, but needed some help; thanks Black_05_TL_6SP for posting the required parts and their part numbers for everyone's benefit.
I'm situated in Oman, a small country in the Middle East, and we don't have many of the models that are local to the US here.
I checked with the Local Honda dealer, who can arrange all but the 7 bolts {8M x 105mm - 95701-08105-08} since they have never come into their parts inventory.
I know the BMW ones are also listed as an alternative, but even if those aren't available, what would be the best course of action?
Thanks for all the help this forum provides.![Thumbs Up](https://acurazine.com/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

For those that don't feel like reading the whole thread. I have compiled the list of parts needed and what they are. I looked up the correct studs and added that part #.
Factory Intake Manifold Spacer (1 Required) - 17108-RDJ-A00
Bolts 8M x 105mm (7 Required) - 95701-08105-08/ BMW part for the 8M x 105mm Bolt 07-11-9-904-532
Studs - 8M x 100mm (2 required) - 92900-08100-1B
Intake Manifold gasket (1 required) - 17105-RCA-A01
Hope this helps. I am getting the order in so I can mill it and see if I can get enough clearance.

Hello welcome from the Middle East. I would just check the BMW dealerships. That is where I got mine from and they were about 3.45 per bolt.

Can you tell me your own full name and full father's name, as appearing your local IDs, since the only mode of money transfer I can do from here is via Western Union. Will check for bank transfer, but we are quite backwards in that respect down here!
Can you find out about sending all this to me via courier, and then send me a total amount so I can send across to you immediately?

Alright. Spacers are installed and I've put a few hundred miles on them. In all honesty, the power (bump in torque) is definitely there. Am I now swatting ferraris left and right? Absolutely...not. I decided NOT to cut the hood, but instead installed a total of 10 washers (split into both sides). One in the front of the latch, and four in the rear. There's a little bit of lift and it doesn't look all that bad...at all! I was relatively surprised to see the outcome. Car does look a tad bit more aggressive, and when driving, it's something that I don't even notice. I'll post pictures tomorrow. Oh and on a side note, everything (hoses, etc) seem to be doing just fine. I adjusted the hoses, lines and my cai. Perfect!

I got the spacer and was doing some measurements !!!
the MDX spacer with the Thermoblock spacer is roughly ~40 mm....
the space between the brake booster line and stock strut bar is again ~40mm (a tough fit)....
i put the spacer on top of my engine and closed the hood....guess what....the hood closed !!! even with the liner in place !!!
So i think if you take the liner out the spacer should fit even without cutting the hood....the only question that comes in is brake booster line !!!

Dear RonJonTL757, I'm very serious about getting this mod done! In this regard, will need you to procure all the items required (if that is ok with you of course). BMW this end has also refused having the bolts - visited them this morning.

You of course need to receive the money before you go out and do some purchases for me. If you still think you don't feel like doing it, then I'll try asking someone else, or maybe go to one of the vendors etc.
