thanks guys. i was crossing my fingers that i would break 270+

well, to be honest.. it was 272.6... but thats 273 to me

im throwing my car back on the lift tomorrow for my teins, so ill check the clearance issues. my mechanic said he had some kind of special heat wrap/sheild he was gonna put over the pipe, just to ensure its not heating up my oil.

the run conditions were VERY similar to my last pull.. last time i was January, but their dyno is kind of indoors, so i dunno if weather really played a factor in it.. but 273... i couldnt be happier.... i think im good with the performance things for a while

Also, my car went NUTS after the dyno. I got VSA:16 and VSA:18 codes thrown.. but they went away 30 seconds after i started driving it. probably something to do with the speed sensors...

OE IM gaskets'

Outlaw Engineering Thermoblok Intake Manifold Gaskets... they were like $101 shipped. it also came with a TB gasket, but i have the P2R , so i didnt install it

honestly.. i think i could have spent my $100 better. i bet these gaskets didnt do anything for my #'s... waste of money

We've prototyped the pipe with less clearance than the final version, driving and stationary which didn't produce any problems with the oil heating up. Even with stop and go traffic there was no increase of heat outside the normal range of the oil temp. We did increase the gap between the oil pan and the pipe to assure even more clearance and also help in dispersing any direct heat.

I will check the clearance on mine tomorrow.... if its too close, would heat wrap/shielding be a good idea?

Yeah, but I honestly doubt you will need it. It's not much closer than stock, it just looks bigger because it hangs lower.

I'm happy for you, BLACK. those are some good-a$$ numbers you put down, the TL'S is an under-rated beast!!! 286 HP at the crank, my ass!!! More like 300 HP!!!!! I'm jealous...Those are practically numbers for forced induction, you "naturally-aspirated" mo'-flo"!!! hahaha. good job man.

its pretty straight forward. you can use one of the following

1) Megan 03-07 Accord V6 Test pipe
2) Richie Test Pipe
3) ATLP Test Pipe (once mike creates it)

its basically just a hollow metal pipe about 10-12" long

I am sure if ATLP makes one, they will use nice SS flanges

Those numbers ARE INSANE ALLON! jeez 270whp+ mg i am speechless....i need to dyno mine as well lol

but yeah, jpipe install went smoothly as long as you buy a test pipe, bolts on the cat wont budge....install took nearly 1hr for me....this is my first time doing it as well....pretty straight foward

soundwise, the exhaust really opens up at 4000RPMs, gives out a roar no one will ever forget.....very nice!!!

Mike have i told you i love you? haha ok just making sure :gheylaugh:

^^ just realized, if the pipe is touching the oil pan, oil temp is raised... that might explain why my dynos went down by the 3rd pull. ill dig deep into this tomorrow. I have been contemplating adding an oil temp guage anyways....

usually, the power increases with runs and i always get my best numbers on the 2nd or 3rd run. today my first pull was the best, then the #s dropped on the next 2 pulls

can somebody PLEASE snap a picture of the OEM Jpipe and Oil pan clearance. mainly where the 2 primary cat pipe downpipes wrap around the oil pan

if clearance is the same, this pipe shouldnt be an issue

i wouldnt get megan or richie's the inlet would be a bottle neck with the ATLP jpipe. The ATLP jpipe is 2.5 outlet megan test pipe is 2.25 inlet

Yeah, but you're eliminating the cat simultaneously, so you should still come out marginally ahead.

And 273 is pretty sick, Blackura. When are you going to get a time slip for that car and show Dave B on the R&C forum that an N/A 5AT TL can in fact break into the 13's??

So who's gonna' be the first Type-S 6MT to match the car's factory crank rating at the wheels???

Just a thought guys....

Blackura is running the 3.5L and has noticed the J Pipe touching the oil pan slightly...
KenTL has a 2007 (type S???), and he too is running in to clearance issues with the oil pan and J pipe...
However, ib18c1 is running the 3.2L and has no issues along with Mike, who is running the a 3.2L...

(Did not the transmissions (automatics) change in 2007 also?, so maybe everything post 2006 sits a little differently?)

Maybe? the fitment is the same dimensionally amongst the two engines, however, either.
1. the 3.5L has a bigger oil pan?
2. the 3.5L has all exhaust pipes translated "x" inches closer to the oil pan?\
3. If in fact the trannies changed post 2007, Acura adjusted the way everything is placed, thereby moving the J-Pipe closer to the oil pan?

I apologize in advance if some of the stuff comes off as ignorant...not to intimately familar with our engines just yet.

no thats ignorant at all, its a smart theory. i believe all the R&D was done on a 3.2L TL...

like i said, shes gonna go up on the lift tomorrow... i will check out everything tomorrow and take some good photos while my car is on the lift... but i took some photos in the dark tonight, and its a TIIGGHHT squeeze

Actually I have a Base.

Looks like the '07 + Base and Type S use a different oil pan than 04-06 TLs.

04-06 TL:11200-RDA-A00
07+ Base and Type S: 11200-RYE-A00.

How Many Poeple With A Type- S Installed The Jpipe So Far? How Many People Ran Into Clearance Issues? I Am Curious As Well Mines Is Suppose To Come Soon As Well As Many Other Type-S Guys... I Hope There Is No Issue That Means Production Will Take Even Longer To Make Any Clearance Issue Adjustments For The Type-S Guys, And Those Who Have Them Already Will Have To Shippem Them Back =(

DID U SAY REDUCE DRONE??!?!?! (even though u have magnaflow)

anyone with Greddy EVO2 put this thing on yet? if it does reduce the drone then... YAY no need to figure out the resonator and piping to resonate my EVO2... still waiting for my j-pipe come on!!!!

Clearance looks pretty damn good. This pipe is a work of art! Gains are definetly there. Sound is a bit more throaty, but no rasp. This is all with the blower, procats and greddy evoII. ALL STOCK EXHAUST PARTS ARE NOW GONE!!! HAHAHA. Thanks Mike!!!
BIG QUESTION!!! hows the drone now?

Not to certain to what products are really out there for wrapping exhaust piping, but a quick google search gave me this

http://www.jscspeed.com/universal/th...eader_wrap.htm

Seems like for those that live in wintry climates, the exhaust wrap should be done with extreme care. I dont think 400 class steel is bulletproof against corrosion, but is far more superior than normal carbon steel. The thing that worries me about the wrap is that, since the J Pipe is exposed to much of the elements, salty road grime can see its way past the wrap and then get "stuck" behind it where any water (salty or not) will have difficulty draining. Basically then, it will just sit there, eating away at the pipe.

There is a spray option that they have also. Almost like a rubber coat. I would think sumthing like that would be a better solution as it can insulate the pipe and allow for an inpenetrable seal.

The other thing that came to mind was to only wrap the portion of the pipe by "gluing" some wrap on the contact area. For example, when looking down at the pipe thru its circular cross section, the "right side" will have some wrap glued on it, while the left side of the same cross sectional view, will not. This is probably the most of the solutions.

I, perosnally, would opt for a spray application. Something rubberized that can coat up to 1/8" or so.

Hope this helps!
